There are literally thousands and thousands of plants that will survive winters in zone 9--can you give a little more info on what sort of plants you're looking for? Otherwise it's going to be very hard for people to suggest anything. Are you looking for perennials, shrubs, trees? Are you looking for plants for sunny or shady areas? Are you going for a particular look in your garden (tropical jungle, cottage garden, something formal?) Do you like things with big bold flowers, or are you more into foliage? Etc. The more info you can give, the more likely people are to come up with suggestions that you'll like and that'll be appropriate for your yard.

Good answer. I seldom think about googling anything. Shows how unuse to a computer I am. Showed the picture of the clematis to Jo and she loves it. Will definitly be looking for it next spring.

I can look for seeds from mine, or maybe even find a small one creeping up out there. Happy to share with you. I know i have pulled up two or three this year already. It is not terribly invasive if ya just keep an eye on it...grin (kind of like relatives, lol)

Know what you mean. I would love to have either the seed or plants. Where I want to put it it can go wild. If it would get to looking like the one in the photo, I'd have to buy another coffee pot to keep up with the visitors.

Let me know about the postage. I'll be glad to pay for overnight if it's plants. I'm waiting to see what this black day lily looks like my niece sent me. If it is special I'll share with you when it propagates.

We'll work that out. I have a day-lily called Dragonlore that is advertised as "nearly Black" you are welcome to a start of it also.

That is the darkest day lily I have. I thought it was similar to yours until I put them side by side. I guess day lilys are my favorite since I quit fooling with tulips.

In actuality, the Dragon lore is darker than it films. the camera can't quite catch the depth of color. One of my favorite things about it is that it is a large evergreen plant with tall bloom spikes that produce keikis freely, and it is a re-blooming day-lily so they are always popping out spots of color. very disease resistant also.

I don't have any rebloomers. Well take that back, got one reblooming now. Never has before. Save me one.

Story behind the one I posted is that someone gave it to Jo. We planted it beside the road. Can in to tend our yard one week and someone had dug it up. Madder than a wet hen. Guess they left a part of the rood, because the next year we were surprised to see it blooming. Moved that joker away from the road. I'll give a person almost anything I have, but don't like a thief even if it's just a day lily.
