Aloha all!

I was researching mochi recipes, when I saw a reference to kudzu. I thought, Could this be the same plant that is a weed in the South? Turns out it is. Good news is that the root has been used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It relieves tension, alleviates symptoms of high blood pressure, purifies the blood.

In desserts, it is used as a flour, as in this Kudzu Mochi recipe: (Several recipes, scroll down) http://www.geocities.com/scocasso/mochi/mochi01/mochi01.htm#...

I would love to be able to grow it here, but there is no way- I am already dealing with enough vines gone wild. I guess I will have to buy it.

Now, if I was you folks, I would start drying the roots, grind them up into flour, package and sell to people. Create the market for it there, there is already a market for it in Asia and the health food trade.

Make the mochi, which most people in mainland haven't tried yet, and create a sensation. (Regular mochi is made with sweet rice flour, and it is something that the more you chew it, the better it keeps tasting. Interesting.) I haven't tried the kudzu mochi, but I'm guessing it will be tasty.

Just some thoughts...good luck!
