Help. I'm laying a stair and hall runner. I am leaving about 3 inches on each side because I have nice hard wood floors underneath. (have to lay it because of the dog), anyway, I pretty much understand how to lay the stair carpet, however, I don't know how to affix the carpet to the hallway. You can't put the tackless strips all down the hall, you'd feel them when you walked wouldn't you?
Are you saying you want to use double sided carpet tape instead of the tackstrips?
Properly padded with the sides rolled under should work. You might want to check with some carpet stores to ask how it is installed with hard floors running down the sides in a hallway.
Don't know. I don't know what I'm doing. The carpet is bound on the edges. I guess I could use tackstrips. Do I put them the same direction as the carpet and on the edges? Cause if I put them perpindicular to the carpet we would feel them when we walk - right?
Right, in the hallway the attachment needs to be along the carpet, not across it. If the stairs are to have a continuous run of carpet, you will have to attach it to the riser, so there you will have to place attachment across the stairs.
