I (long time ago) tried one with orange/pinapple juice with slow gin and put in freezer until it was like a freezie and munched with a spoon. Was good. So hope this explains what I ment before when I said I needed one. Nothing bad here.

It took me awhile too. Forums are the big catagories. Seed trading, Brugmansia, Aroids. Once you get on the forum you click to add to your list. Then when you go to one forum like Brugmansia and click on the Brug sprout thread and it comes up you click to watch the thread. Everytime there's a new post in that thread it shows up. Everytime I post a reply I go back to home and if someone answers it shows up in my thread box on top of the forum box.

Is there another way?

If you have a dollar store close go there and buy a couple packs of the Dixie cups and use those for starter plants. They are great fro things like that and you can get them for a 1.00 a pkge and there is about 40 to 50 in a pack. They make good seed starter pots too. Just poke a hole in the bottoms for drainage.

Oh I don't know LOL I know they grow here.. I'll send you some anyway and try and see if they will , nothing lost if they don't.

There are 2 different kinds and they are both planted on one trellis so you would probably get two different ones as I don't know which one is which at this point.

Hi ladies! Boy am I having a tough time choosing a winner in my auction! According to DG, the time is 6:14 pm and my time here in TN is 7:14.. So I will be going off of DG time and closing my auction at 8:00 tonight. I would like to do the next auction, but have a lot going on this week, so would like to ask if there is anyone out there who could chip in and do an auction for us this week. We would really appreciate it, ad love to see this keep going. If absolutely no one can, then I will but any takers would be welcome.

Had an interesting day.. went to a baby shower in another little town not too far from where I live and noticed some beautiful cannas at 2 different houses. I felt the need to leave the shower as quickly as possible so i could go knock on doors and ask for some! See what this addiction does to you? lol Anyway, the first lady was super nice and ended up giving me an orange canna I didn't have, along with this variegated monkey grass I have been wanting and she had beautiful tall (like 3 ft) Irises with yellow flowers. Then I stopped at the 2nd house and this elderly man came out and let me have 2 big canna bulbs of his gorgeous yellow & reddish orange cannas, 2 giant seed pods from his Magnolia tree and a plastic bag full of fresh chestnuts from his tree that he had in a bucket of salt. LOL So I thought what the heck, I'm having a good day- I saw this huge greenhouse frame that I thought might be up for sale since there was a for sale sign on the property and met this nice lady who ended up being a Master Gardener. She had a lot of really neat plants, but she didn't offer and I didn't ask. I told her about DG and to look at what I have and if she wanted to trade to let me know. We talked for about an hour and she ended up inviting me to a Master Gardener meeting tomorrow where they are making hypertoofa (I think I spelled that right) pots. So what the heck, I'm going! They say that everything happens for a reason, so I'm digging in with both heels!!

That way if you have heirloom bid them and if not any kind will do so all can get in on it, just a suggestion, but it's your call. It's your auction again this week. Just thinking about the newbies just starting out may not have those and might want to get included in the bids, and might be easier to get other seeds to bid.

Good Morning! Sorry I missed visiting much yesterday. Had to work and then had a going away party to go to, and got to spend some time with DD, ,DSIL, and new baby! What a busy day! Lord, I even slept past 7 this morning! FF, those clems are beautiful! If you have extra seeds, I would love a couple, have never tried starting clems from seed, but think that it is a slow process. But I would love to try it anyway. I'll send cuttings back to you if I can get them to grow! LOL!
I wonder if gourds take a little cooler climate? I've never had any luck with them either Robin, but haven't tried them for years. Maybe next spring?
Debra, I have a blue MG today! First time I've had one, have no idea what it is, but it is huge! Twice the size of the others I have! Will have to try to collect seeds from that one for sure!
FF, have already received requests for passing forward some of the glads and lilies, when they get that big! How cool is that! Silly people are assuming I can get them to grow and stay alive! LOL!
Get to spend some time today working in the yard! Everyone have a great Day!!

Edited to say: Wow Mechelle! What a great day you had! And met new friends also! Doesn't get any better than that!

Flower, when I grow gourds, usually leave them till the vine starts to wither away, but if you want to pick them first, just watch for the stem to the gourd to start to turn yellowish color and pick, wait a week or so and break open for seeds, or leave the seeds in until you want to use them. They can dry inside the gourds. I only planted the little snake gourds this year, thought they might be pretty for fall decorations. Planted late and don't have any yet though.

Hi All this to good..

'Dear Lord:

A man was sick and tired of going to work every day
while his wife stayed home.
He wanted her to see what he went through so he prayed:
'Dear Lord:
I go to work every day and put in 8 hours while my wife
merely stays at home.
I want her to know what I go through.
So, please allow her body to switch with mine for a day.
God, in his infinite wisdom,
granted the man's wish.
The next morning, sure enough, the man awoke as a woman...
He arose, cooked breakfast for his mate,
Awakened the kids,
Set out their school clothes,
Fed them breakfast,
Packed their lunches,
Drove them to school,
Came home and picked up the dry cleaning,
Took it to the cleaners
And stopped at the bank to make a deposit,
Went grocery shopping,
Then drove home to put away the groceries,
Paid the bills and balanced the check book.
He cleaned the cat's litter box and bathed the dog..
Then, it was already 1 P.M.
And he hurried to make the beds,
Do the laundry, vacuum,
Dust, And sweep and mop the kitchen floor.
Ran to the school to pick up the kids and got into an argument
with them on the way home.
Set out milk and cookies and got the kids organized to do their homework.
Then, set up the ironing board and watched TV while he did the ironing.
At 4:30 he began peeling potatoes and washing vegetables for salad,
breaded the pork chops and snapped fresh beans for supper.
After supper, He cleaned the kitchen,
Ran the dishwasher,
Folded laundry,
Bathed the kids, and put them to bed.
At 9 P.M. He was exhausted and, though his daily chores
weren't finished, he went to bed where he was expected to
make love, which he managed to get through without complaint.
The next morning, he awoke and immediately knelt by the bed and said: -
Lord, I don't know what I was thinking.
I was so wrong to envy my wife's being able to stay home all day.
Please, Oh! Please, let us trade back.. Amen!'
The Lord, in his infinite wisdom, replied:
'My son, I feel you have learned your lesson and
I will be happy to change things back to the way they were.
You'll just have to wait nine months, though.
You got pregnant last night.'

Tubby I've had a few friends and sisters in law wish that last one on their husbands after they smarted off that being pregnant wasn't a big deal.
Need prayers for two little babies. Miles, 2 months has viral mengitis and Caleb 2 years has a bacterial infection and both are in the hospital right now. So far Miles seems to be doing well still waitinig to find out what kind of bacterial infection Caleb has but he was up and eating breakfast this morning. Both boys are great nephews of mine.

Mindy, of course our prayers are with your little ones! Praying for them everyday for a speedy and complete recovery. There is nothing worse, I don't think, than watching sick little ones. Makes you feel so helpless when you can't make them all better. Be sure and keep us posted as to how they are doing, please.

Mindy, so sorry about the boys, I was out packing up trades. I will be praying for them and hope they are well SOON!
No, Seray, didn't plant the fescue seeds yet. these should be something else. I planted several and moved the containers before getting the name stickers on them.-but does look like grass right now. My puya sprouted and SOoooooo many hibiscus seeds that Faye sent me and I can't remember her DG name to tell her her package is on it's way to her as well. BUT FAYE THEY ARE.
Flower, waiting for your list, so I don't forget half of them.
OH Seray, Almost forgot, the purple/blue cup flower seeds are sprouting. Very tiny green poking out.

Hey you guys, just got on here this morning, got to go get in the shower, now and off for a while. All my buddies shoud know by now, as soon as me gets blooms, me buds will all get seeds. Me not forget ye. Just sowed the last of my seeds a few days ago and they are sprouting now. My venusta and metalicblue puya is also sprouting along with white kaka beak, many hardy hibiscus-different colors, My Jade vine is growing up a storm, it is putting on clusters of leaves all over. It made a Y shape and has 2 vines going up. it's the emerald color, of blue/green, can't wait for blooms. I think my ylang ylang vine has sprouted. Here is a picture of my baby brug. She is growing SOooooo fast. My princess and her earring tree right behind her to the right in the black pot and some flame vine sprouted in the orange striped pot and pink jasmine at the right edge of the picture, my jade vine running up a stand by the big4x4 post on the left side. I have about 50 pots out there sprouting. (Might be big enough to survive santa's big bag around Christmas.) Have to think about that one- maybe a christmas themed auction LATER on. Lots of goodies out there. Well, back later.

Miles has to go through 2 more tests today they think one test was contaiminated so making sure on him. Daddy says he's doing well though and just happy as can be loves to "talk" to every nurse who comes by his bed.
Well tried to do the paperwork this morning for mail delivery. NO GO. Postmaster was either busy or about to leave for lunch and must have told my SIL to deal with it. SHE says have to look into it even though lady at the window told her it was ready to go just needed the paperwork. GRRR Lady at window said Postmaster will call us today about it I'm giving him until 3 to do so then if he's not called by then I'm calling him. That particular SIL is not one of my favorite people at any time though I adore my niece from her.

Ah ha, I filled mine with goat manure. Hehehe Have bunches of it since I have several goats. However with the scraps of food I threw in, I now have cantelopes, tomatoes and peppers all sprouting in there,Along with an earthworm snake, and my lasagna bed is for flowers. The earthworm snake was evicted, but the vegies keep coming back. Mostly tomatoes and jalepenyo peppers.(probably didn't spell that correct.) As soon as I get the 3-4 inches of top soil on there, I'm going to cover it with plastic to kill off any left over seeds or weeds or germs, until spring.

And still collecting seeds, of course, and will have to go thru them all and see what I can put together for a list of haves to trade too! Mekos, so glad your friend is doing well and home! And Mindy, so happy to hear the boys are doing much better too! Sending prayers for their Mom now! BBL

Flower the cutting is the blue and white lisianthus. I sent it as a lark. I don't know if it'll root but it did have a seed pod on it. I figured if anyone could get it to root you could.

The other is the purple crepe myrtle. Hope it makes it. It's gorgeous when it's blooming. :) I wonder what I did with the plant tags I made to send with them. LOL

Hello everyone. Good to see you with us Ride. We don't fuss at anyone here, the ones out there are the rule enforcers (mostly their own rules). Our rules are to HAVE FUN AND help out your fellow man or WOman. We just got these new "digs" and some haven't found us just yet. We got booted for talking too much too, by the same crowd. I just realized how mislead I was by WHO runs this place. I always THOUGHT it was DG team. Well, it seems to be self appointed police. How ever we try to keep peace.
I do think your flower is purple hyacinth bean mine had bloomed for long it was filling with seed pods. I have it in white also. A bird could have dropped the seed and they will grow just about anywhere.
there is a pea vine that it could be as well. Can you show the leaf of yours again? Is it heart shaped, green with maybe purple veins around it.

Hello everyone.. Hope your day is going good so far!

Hi Cue! we were wonderin' 'bout 'ya.. glad you had a good time.. Good to see you here. We decided to do the next auction starting next Sunday night. Veggie auction, same rules as last time but Surprises for Heirloom Seeds.. Me as the auctioneer! I always wanted to be an auctioneer.. It's amazing to watch them, lol!

Ride, welocome and looks like you're going to fit in just fine here. We do and say what we want to here and have fun.. we are like a big gardening family here and we look out for each other.. We share knowledge, plants, seeds, chit- chat, whatever and whenever we want to. So make yourself at home and grab a Mojito. We've always got plenty of those too!
Mekos, you need to tell me more about the heat pad thing.. I have a problem with "losing" my seeds and having to unbury the little buggers. How can I fix that little problem? I am happy to report that I have 1 Hardy Hibiscus sprout and 3 Rose of Sharon Blue Satin Sprouts! I can't wait for those- they are sooo pretty! I had a very generous DG'er send me a nice variety of Hollyhock seeds, so I am going to start them. I think I will make a lasagna bed for just Hollyhocks. I like the idea of having them all together and being able to find a home for them later. I also need to start some purple coneflower. I was bummed when I learned they bloom the 2nd year, but oh well. They're worth the wait.

Listen- we started talking about something in the Lasagna Bed Brigade yesterday and I just want to bring it up again. If ya'll think I'm completely crazy, I understand! You guys were joking about coming to my house.. after I finished roflmao, I thought "Hey, that might be fun" What do you guys think about having an "Annual DG Flower Fest" where we all get together late spring? I am completely serious and would love to host it. We could switch it up and go to each others place of choice each year, or have it here every year. I don't care either way. Let's talk about it some more. These kind of things are my forte, so I would absolutely love it if we did it. I'm a good planner and organizer and could do some awesome things with this idea. And from what I can see, not many of us would have to travel too far. Lemme know!

TTYS, gotta go get boxes packed for PO today! Mechelle

Great idea Mechelle on the flower get together. I'd love it if I'm able to go at that time.
Keep in mind also that hollyhocks bloom the second year.
OH MAN, I want a blue satin, I have pink, white, blueish/purple colors-rose of sharon and a double rosy wine color and blushing bride color of Althea. Blue satin is my favorite color.
Maybe I will be able to grow some.
Mojitos and Turkey sammiches, everyone. Dinner is served!!!!! Pull up a chair and sit down beside it.

It did catch me right in the middle of planting some daylilies and came a downpour.. DH isnt crazy about me putting flowers in the veggie garden, he is ready to plant his turnip greens...But till Its dry enough to prepare another LB he will have to deal with it...We dont eat turnip greens any way just grow them to give away and watch something growing in the garden... ha so we can watch those daylilies and irises grow that I planted...Hope you all have a great day..

I gotta shampoo my carpet while DH is off work to help..TTYL Trish

DH does frown me me swiping cuttings though there's a bush at the PO that has the most beautiful pink flowers a camellia I think. He told if I snitched a piece he wasn't going to bail me out. I told him he would cause I take care of all those little details that make his life so comfortable LOL. But he does collect seeds from his friends places and his boss's wife's flowers.

How about a central place with a Botanical Gardens close by. Someplace we could all fly into. Warm in the dead of winter for our northern friends. Say Miami next to Fairchild tropical gardens. It'd take Robin 2 days to get to TN. Loca you would probably be the same. Skellogg would have to start a week in advance. :) Fly in -quick, easy, home to water the garden Monday! If we use our credit cards with the milage over Christmas (do they still have that option) maybe we could have enough to pay for the flight. I can get us a corp rate at a hotel with a pool of course. We could go to South Beach. ROTFL Let someone else make the margaritas and drive us home.

Good Morning Everyone,
Wow this is turning into one of those big families you use to hear about, Welcome Grannie and Redmule...It is nice to have you. You have all again been busy, busy, Bees. Thank You Seray for pointing out the lack of easily accessed flights from Maine to anywhere... I do get to Tampa on occasion... So Miami is only across the State. I have been through Miami but never stopped...One time I wanted to go to AroostookCounty, here in Maine, I was in a hurry as it takes 5 hrs to drive there I thought Ill fly in do what I need to do and fly home. I had been on the road for weeks. I found a flight it took 5.5 hrs to fly and I had to leave Portland 1 hr drive from where I was park 1hr production in Portland fly to Boston then back to Aroostook County ...Imagine it...I drove . No Jan there are no Florida tree orchids in Aroostook County either...
Have a wonderful Day Everyone I will be in the yard for as much as I can today, frost is coming. Maybe three days left to close up ...:(
Snow will be here soon

Good morning all! Boy, Robin, you aren't kidding there! And I am NOT ready for winter, at least not yet! But then, I'm not sure that I ever am ready for it. I love fall, but it just never seems to last long enough. Sure hope this winter is not as bad as last winter! One of the coldest on record, with snow from October on! Yep, gotta spend a lot of time outside getting beds ready for it! Collecting milk jugs for winter sowing now, too. Gotta finish unloading a pickup full of manure, too!

Morning everyone!

sk - that's a pretty big load of poo you got there - lol. We have a lot of dairies around and you can just pop in and ask for it. In my line of work I have the inside scoop as I deal with some of them daily. You can buy a 50# bag of aged manure for $3, but mostly I get it fromt hem for free.

I miss living in the country, too. Born and raised in beautiful Aroostook County, Maine - right, Robin? But it sure is c-c-c-c-cold in the wintertime! That I don't miss . . .

I miss skiing and snowmobiling and ice fishing though...

I think the lasagna beds are easier. Couldn't pay me to stack that many blocks. Earthboxes on benches are my kinda gardening I guess. For that environment it's perfect though.

Might be adapted for a cool goth garden, cave and all. LOL You could probably use some of the hypertufa techniques to make it lighter and look more like a grotto. We have a Goth Garden adviser, Cue and Mechelle is taking a class for hypertufa. Maybe once all our lasagna gardens are filled we could find another group project. Chicken wire, paper and porter cement will go along way. And make an incredible MESS! LOL What fun!!!

Yep! That's all it is really. I don't know why it would have to be that high. Seems like a lot of the soil would never get used. And the cans wouldn't add much unless the plants had deep root systems. Maybe I'm thinking 'waist high' for me and not those kids. But it did have a barrel in the middle didn't it. :)

My bloodpressure is up and head hurts, but don't know why, I haven't eaten anything to cause it to go up. (I don't think). I'm liking this cool weather, even if it is sprinkling a little. This is good for the plants. WOW Arejay, frost this early????? We hardly ever get ANY snow, but the cold days like that are usually in NOV. or DEC., then JAN, FEB, and MARCH. April brings warm and planting weather. I think we got 1 dusting of snow last year, 1-2 inches, and maybe one the year before. It's been a while since we got any real snow. I wouldn't know how to act with snow. Probably have a snowball fight. My husband is always wanting to move to Alaska. He loves the snow as much as me. Well, talk to yall later.

Hi Mekos

If the plant is showy on it's own then I use black plastic or terra cotta. If it's small delicate or a mix I usually use a complimentary color especially if it's on display.

On the container gardening forum TomTom usually displays hers in terra cotta. Beautiful check it out; http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/995034/

While KatG uses a variety. For some eye candy watch her slideshow here: http://katg.phanfare.com/1709026_4678153#imageID=78673723

When you talk to someone and get their personality, (or when I do) I get a feeling of colors toward the person. Like with some foods- I taste something and taste a color- grape tastes like purple, epsom saltz is green, (my daddy used to make us take a spoon ful as medicine when I was a kid) honey is yellow, strawberry is red, etc. Personalities are colors too. ( I think Cue's color scheme is black- loca is pink, arejay is lavender, mindy is light blue) So this is why I'm asking to see what I thought, verses, to what you really like. I would imagine AL, as green, Mechelle red, Blondie purple, Seray tan or beige, and so forth but would appreciate it if you would tell me what your favorite color would be if you had a flower in a pot and what color would you pick for the pot- then what your favorite color is. I'm not up to anything, just a curiosity thing.

WOW. Thanks Arejay. Anyone care to say the MONTH they were born? I was born in Dec. - blue birthstone. My husband was born in May- emerald green birthstone. My favorite color is blue( turquoise)- blue and green!?! But as a pot or trim of outside- I like cherry bark red. My favorite flowers would be tropical colors- like orange or purples and yellows and mixes of those colors. Anyone ever thought about a color for a person? I guess I'm just weird. I like to match up a person to a color. I think this is interesting.

Mekos you seem blue to me. Flower is bright red or orange. Al is yellow. Cue is purple. Blond is blond. LOL Robin is rainbow mix browns and oranges and lavenders, Hollyhock is orangy yellow, Mechelle is pine green, Skellogg is light yellow, Loca is orangy rust, Lollyjean is lavender pink, Who did I miss? Ridesredmule is rusty red.

Ok, my month is May.. My favorite color is purple.. I have chosen terra cotta, dark green, grey, white planters lately and did an off white for hanging planters to match my porch. But just to confuse everybody, lol, I really like earth tones. My wedding colors were burgundy & hunter green.. I like hunter green with tan a lot. But when I go clothes shopping, I always tend to like black. My school uniforms are all black, so lately I have bought even more black. I just think it's a good color on me, idk. I am up so late, got my sleep schedule mixed up.. Gotta start going to bed a little earlier, lol.

I want to share something with you all this was posted today on verse daily it is written by my sister she had no idea what we were all talking about. I hope you all enjoy.
Girl in a Purple Dress

Riding her bike down Water Street
Her bare legs flash as she pedals
Purple sandals strapped across her ankles
No hat, no scarf,
No watch or bauble
Her hair loose, the sun
Whips through it
No sunglasses
No painted toes
No rings
No sweater
No bag of groceries
No purse
Just a girl's purple skirt
Flaring in the breeze
Skating across her knees
The bike old-fashioned
Rubber pedals
Long-horn handle bars
No gears
No frills
Not a speck of new paint
Gliding down the sidewalk
Her colorless hair flung up
In wings
Reveals her bare ears
Her pink forehead
Parts the wind
Not a pocket
Not a pearl
Simple as the color of the sky
Hovering over the ocean
Dusk the color of morning glories
Her eyes fixed like field stones
On the road

Hello e1,Just getting caught up with the chit chat. I love poems that make you have a vision in your mind as you read them. That was a very nice compliment seray. ;-) Cue, good to see you. We've been waiting for you to come chat with us! Blonde I remember those days. One year all 3 of my kids played soccer and of course my Dh worked Saturdays. They each had a game at the same time at 3 different schools. I had to drop one off, tell a trusted parent I'd be back and go to the next one. By the time I got back to the first game, it was over, and the 2nd, and the 3rd. Talk about stressful! We never did soccer again after that, lol. I was a cub scout committee mom, we did baseball, football, and I worked in all 3 of the kids' classrooms. Don't know how I made it, lol. And then they turn 18 and tell you they can't wait to move out of the house.. go figure, lol. When they are little, you want them to grow up and be more self sufficient, and when they grow up, you say you wish they were little again. Crazy how fast time flies..

I was just wondering about Mekos myself. Ilovejesus has also been sick and so was Cue.

Get well wishes for those that are under the weather. ((chicken noodle soup hugs))

Well, despite the ugly weather, I actually got a few things accomplished today. I snuck out as soon as the rain stopped! I put my Mexican Petunia from huneybunch in the ground today, put one of my new Var. Monkeygrass in the ground today, put both of my new cannas in the ground, and OMG, Put all of the Iris noids in the Iris Lasagna bed. I had enough to almost go around it once. Still have another bunch to dig up and replant. I put my Salvia and Black, Red, and Blue petunias from Mekos in their new pots unil the Goth Garden is ready, and put my new plants from jerodsmom in their planters until I decide where to put them. I go back to school next Tuesday so I may not be on as much but will try to check in with everybody each night. I still have to plant my Tropicana canna from Mekos, and figure out where I am going to put what's left of my Surprise Lilies. But, I do have quite a few extra of the Red Spider Lily bulbs. If anyone would like some, send me a dmail and sasbe. I have about 50 right now that I can share.
And that rain thought it was gonna keep me from going outside ! Ptttthh to the rain, lol

Those are gorgeous. Where on earth is Pearcedale Victoria? Do they have an airport? I'm pretty sure you won't find them at Lowe's.

Al
Pearcedale, Victoria is in Australia. I haven't seen any of his irises in Lowes, Home Depot or Walmart. lol

If you fly over to check out his irises I think they'll be blooming soon. I think it's spring there now. I'll give you a list of the ones I want you to bring back for me ;-)

Seems like a long way to go just to get an iris. Then again, they must be special. Maybe they could just send us a box. lol

Yea Al, crank up that plane and lets go. I could take a break from all this mud for a while. Love looking at Irises.

Lycodad,

What is this Jiffy soil you said to plant the spider babies in? I looked at Lowe's last night and the people in the garden center were clueless.

Morning Lolly

"Jiffy Mix" is a sterile soil mix used as a starting medium for many seeds and plants. It's a lightweight 50/50 mix of pulverized peat moss and vermiculite. The original "Jiffy" is manufactured by Ferry-Morse in Ohio (www.ferry-morse.com). There are several other brands of basically the same stuff under different names, you would have to ask at your local store. I have rooted several different plants with great success with Jiffy products and also use their pellets for tomato and pepper seed starts.

A little humor
Redneck rules!

GENERAL:

1. Never take a beer to a job interview.

2. Always identify people in your yard before shooting at them.

3. It's considered tacky to take a cooler to church.

4. If you have to vacuum the bed, it is time to change the sheets.

5. Even if you're certain that you are included in the will, it is still rude to drive the U-Haul to the funeral home.

DINING OUT:

1. When decanting wine, make sure that you tilt the paper cup and pour slowly so as not to
"bruise" the fruit of the vine.

2. If drinking directly from the bottle, always hold it with your hands.

ENTERTAINING IN YOUR HOME:

1. A centerpiece for the table should never be anything prepared by a taxidermist.

2. Do not allow the dog to eat at the table, no matter how good his manners are.

PERSONAL HYGIENE:

1. While ears need to be cleaned regularly, this is a job that should be done in private
using one's OWN truck keys.

2. Even if you live alone, deodorant is not a waste of good money.

3. Use of proper toiletries can only delay bathing for a few days.

4. Dirt and grease under the fingernails is a social no-no, as they tend to detract from
a woman's jewelry and alter the taste of finger foods.

DATING (Outside the Family):

1. Always offer to bait your date's hook, especially on the first date.

2. Be assertive. Let her know you're interested: "I've been wanting to go out with you since
I read that stuff on the bathroom wall two years ago."

2. Establish with her parents what time she is expected back. Some will say 10:00 PM. Others might say "Monday." If the latter is the answer, it is the man's responsibility to get her to school on time.

THEATER ETIQUETTE:

1. Crying babies should be taken to the lobby and picked up immediately after the movie has ended.

2. Refrain from talking to characters on the screen. Tests have proven they can't hear you.

WEDDINGS:

1. Livestock is usually a poor choice for a wedding gift.

2. Kissing the bride for more than 5 seconds may get you shot.

3. For the groom, at least, rent a tux. A leisure suit with a cummerbund and a clean bowling shirt can create a tacky appearance.

4. Though uncomfortable, say "yes" to socks and shoes for this special occasion.

DRIVING ETIQUETTE:

1. Dim your headlights for approaching vehicles, even if the gun is loaded and the deer is in sight.

2. When approaching a four-way stop, the vehicle with the largest tires does not always have the right of way.

3. Never tow another car using panty hose and duct tape.

4. When sending your wife down the road with a gas can, it is impolite to ask her to bring back beer too..

5. Do not lay rubber while traveling in a funeral procession.
