Ok everyone. The thread is posted and the mojos are served the jacuzzi is warming up I think we are all set and I have to go do what i do Ill check in with ya all later.
Hugs to you all good problem solving we all did...I never doubted us...TTYS
Shoot I forgot about Cue's girls night out hope it went well. Hey Mekos and Flower hubby is teasing me told me he was going to put up 2 mailboxes one for him and one for me. I told him not to bother he doesn't get anything anyway LOL. But he is going to fix a spot for packages that's waterproof YIPPEE. Told me I needed that more than I did the box. Isn't he sweet in spite of being a dratted man sometimes?
i need to get my husband to make me something too, easier for my mail lady anyways, she just throws them out the window up by my gate how nice of her. well anyways i am going to bed got one of those headaches again. i guess i need to get to the doctor and get something for them nothing over the counter works.
talk at you all later
hugs to you all
He's getting a pumpkin pie made from one of his pumpkins. He wanted to see what one tasted like and kept bugging me to fix one. Had to make the crust from scratch too. Next week he wants homemade doughnuts. I told him I would think about it. LOL
Blondie, we posted at the same time, as usual. Hope you feel better. You need to get checked out and see if you might be allergic to something. OR it could be you need glasses. Might see an eye doctor. Edited for spelling???
OH< for those who don't know- (it just dawned on me some of you may not know this drink) A slow screw -is orange juice and slow gin. I (long time ago) tried one with orange/pinapple juice with slow gin and put in freezer until it was like a freezie and munched with a spoon. Was good. So hope this explains what I ment before when I said I needed one. Nothing bad here.
LOL! Mekos, too funny, never thought about the other meaning! Was a bar manager for 20 years, so I just naturally assumed the drink. Tend to forget there are people who wouldn't know that! Still way funny!!! LOL!
Ohh, Flower, so sorry! Hope you are better soon. Back pain is one of the worst, and we haven't helped a bit, making you laugh at our comments and antics. But we really can't help it, so please suffer through the laughter with us. ;-)
BUT the forum don't come up until you find it. My problem is when I got here from the link, I couldn't find it again. Then at the bottom Under the last post, I clicked garden talk forum and it started all over, then on the right side TOP, I found a little box that said start watching this forum or something like that and clicked it and now it comes up. But I couldn't find anything that said watch thread. Just thought others might have the same problem, but maybe not. I'm ok now with this one, but doubt if I can find the others again, not sure if they come up or not.
I sent the links in a dmail to you... when you cant find it you can always open the email and locate it by clicking the links... I had to do this for while with other forums besides the seed trade forum
It took me awhile too. Forums are the big catagories. Seed trading, Brugmansia, Aroids. Once you get on the forum you click to add to your list. Then when you go to one forum like Brugmansia and click on the Brug sprout thread and it comes up you click to watch the thread. Everytime there's a new post in that thread it shows up. Everytime I post a reply I go back to home and if someone answers it shows up in my thread box on top of the forum box.
I don't know how to do that. Cue tried to teach me but it didn't work, I'm too old to learn new stuff. My fingers don't work good with this. It's ok, though. I got them added. Just wanted someone to help the newbies over there.
hey Mekos, you were going to bed an hour ago! See, it's so much fun- we're all Lasagna Bed startin', brug seed sproutin' , chit chattin' seed junkies, auction biddin' Dave's Garden addicts.. aren't we? lol
LOL SK ..GLad you didnt get left out in the rain...Speaking of rain..It has rained here since yesterday about 5 pm, about 3 inches so far... I planted Irises yesterday morning, then got more in the mail yesterday around 3 wish now I had went right out and planted them...Sure I'd bog up to my knees now, and I dont want to get our new house tracked with dirt! Ladies do we have a maid in our new paradise? Maybe I'll just soak in the hot tub and drink mojita's all day...
yeah I was just looking.. some end up being $1 a piece.. But there is one for 160 of the 2" that comes out to .14 each. But I don't think I need that many right now. I just want to start a bunch of cuttings.
I was just "THINKING" and have maybe a couple hundred different packs of seeds that COULD be listed with a new thread each time to ask if anyone was interested in a trade??? if anyone is interested they could do the same, I sure would love to see each pack and what you might want for each one. I wouldn't want to TIE up the seed thread much though with OUR seeds. What do you guys think? Anyone interested in a one for one trade?
Won't offend anyone here only out there. You find busy bodies every where. We're still tradeing seeds and doing the auctions anyway so they can just get over it. We just move UP TOWN to the big city. Condo with pool and cabanas and mojitos palm trees and the "WORKS". Use you imagination. It's ALL HERE, with US. Hope you are having a good day.
If you have a dollar store close go there and buy a couple packs of the Dixie cups and use those for starter plants. They are great fro things like that and you can get them for a 1.00 a pkge and there is about 40 to 50 in a pack. They make good seed starter pots too. Just poke a hole in the bottoms for drainage.
I've seen beautiful pics of Doosie. It's pink I think. A few are in the Brug challenge this week. All of those are nice. LOL I think we left this weeks challenge on the old Brug thread in the seed trading forum. My have to hunt that one and move it to it's new home.
Thanks for the prayers for my friend, she is going to be going home from the hospital soon. Where she is ready or not, don't know but without insurance here, you get booted out as soon as you are stable. But she seems to be much better. Thought I'd let you all know.
welcome to the new home AL. As for the BS we'll just use it as a green layer on the lasagna beds no problem there.
Flower may I have some of those seeds too pretty please? But wait until I get my new address before you send mine OK? Hoping to get that all done tomorrow but hubby's boss wants to go get another junk car tomorrow so it depends on whether he gets back in time or not now.
Mekos Glad your friend is doing better prayers will continue for contindued progress.
Thanks Mindy. Good one for the bs. Haha.
Does anyone want to do the auction tonight, for the next one? Ptilda had asked to do it and just let me know she isn't going to do it tonight, so if anyone wants to put their stuff up, it's up for grabs. Or Mechelle if you want to do another one- let me know. Arejay, or anyone interested for this one?
hows it going how is that orchid,
mine has taken off, i am sending arejays hers tomorrow if i get off work in time, got called in on my day off yuk, so going to bed early so i can get to work early and bake bake bake bake all day to make sure they have plenty.
Oh I have had them for about 6 years and as far as I can remember this is the first year that they have produced seed galore. Always had seed but not like I have this year.
Thanks. I love clematis and I have those 2 and 5 more that I put out this year so I'll hopefully have seed from them next year and they are some beautiful ones too. The one I will be so glad to see what it looks like is called Crystal Palace.
It something like yellow cup or something like that. I had them on my have list a while back. Trying to remember. They are wild flowers, and the bloom dies and you take the dead head like zinnias or marigolds kind of flowers for seeds. Gold cup maybe. Plant ID WILL know I'm sure.
Hi ladies! Boy am I having a tough time choosing a winner in my auction! According to DG, the time is 6:14 pm and my time here in TN is 7:14.. So I will be going off of DG time and closing my auction at 8:00 tonight. I would like to do the next auction, but have a lot going on this week, so would like to ask if there is anyone out there who could chip in and do an auction for us this week. We would really appreciate it, ad love to see this keep going. If absolutely no one can, then I will but any takers would be welcome.
Had an interesting day.. went to a baby shower in another little town not too far from where I live and noticed some beautiful cannas at 2 different houses. I felt the need to leave the shower as quickly as possible so i could go knock on doors and ask for some! See what this addiction does to you? lol Anyway, the first lady was super nice and ended up giving me an orange canna I didn't have, along with this variegated monkey grass I have been wanting and she had beautiful tall (like 3 ft) Irises with yellow flowers. Then I stopped at the 2nd house and this elderly man came out and let me have 2 big canna bulbs of his gorgeous yellow & reddish orange cannas, 2 giant seed pods from his Magnolia tree and a plastic bag full of fresh chestnuts from his tree that he had in a bucket of salt. LOL So I thought what the heck, I'm having a good day- I saw this huge greenhouse frame that I thought might be up for sale since there was a for sale sign on the property and met this nice lady who ended up being a Master Gardener. She had a lot of really neat plants, but she didn't offer and I didn't ask. I told her about DG and to look at what I have and if she wanted to trade to let me know. We talked for about an hour and she ended up inviting me to a Master Gardener meeting tomorrow where they are making hypertoofa (I think I spelled that right) pots. So what the heck, I'm going! They say that everything happens for a reason, so I'm digging in with both heels!!
I'm going to try that as soon as they start to die off. I successfully gathered my first seeds yesterday from dying zinnias so now I think I can do it. Harvesting seeds and picking up a truckload of manure all in the same week. It's like the training wheels are coming off. LOL
You go lollyjean. You will be an old pro before you know it and rolling down a hill with a roll of toilet paper under one arm and seed bags in the other just like starlight. (I'm still in stitches over her seed collecting)
Yep. She was right. It is a swamp sunflower. It says they will bloom into the fall and need plenty of water but we've hardly had any rain at all and they are blooming like crazy. I think I'm going to try some in my beds.
Sounds good to me but what if we don't have heirloom kind? couldn't it be any kind of vegie seeds? That way if you have heirloom bid them and if not any kind will do so all can get in on it, just a suggestion, but it's your call. It's your auction again this week. Just thinking about the newbies just starting out may not have those and might want to get included in the bids, and might be easier to get other seeds to bid.
Hay there,Hi there,Ho there..I found you..
Company is gone..It was fun have everyone here.
And I got 6hrs sleep..Felling much better..
Girls had a good time at flea market.
I didn't go with DBL..Didn't have head on right..LOL He said whats new..We give each other lots guff..LOL
So I didn't get my little loader. Not worry it will be there. He lives across the street Shirley's Mom. We took Mom home and drove past his house so Shirley could see it..She said oh thats cool..LOL
NICE Tubby. Sounds like you had a great day. Glad you found this place-new digs.
Congratulations to the auction winners tonight!!!!! Lots of great stuff there exchanged. Mechelle is doing a great job and really appreciate you girl. Mojitos for everyone!!!!! ON THE HOUSE!!!!! Par-tee!
Where is CUE???? Late out last night???? I don't remember her checking in today. Where is everyone else? LOCA??
Well I am on here this morning TT . I watched the football games yesterday afternoon so I didn't see your want. Will send you some. Have to get out and collect them sometime today.
The bigger bulbs were asiatic lily bulbs, then there were a few small ones and then a few baby Glad bubulis.
Good Morning! Sorry I missed visiting much yesterday. Had to work and then had a going away party to go to, and got to spend some time with DD, ,DSIL, and new baby! What a busy day! Lord, I even slept past 7 this morning! FF, those clems are beautiful! If you have extra seeds, I would love a couple, have never tried starting clems from seed, but think that it is a slow process. But I would love to try it anyway. I'll send cuttings back to you if I can get them to grow! LOL!
I wonder if gourds take a little cooler climate? I've never had any luck with them either Robin, but haven't tried them for years. Maybe next spring?
Debra, I have a blue MG today! First time I've had one, have no idea what it is, but it is huge! Twice the size of the others I have! Will have to try to collect seeds from that one for sure!
FF, have already received requests for passing forward some of the glads and lilies, when they get that big! How cool is that! Silly people are assuming I can get them to grow and stay alive! LOL!
Get to spend some time today working in the yard! Everyone have a great Day!!
Edited to say: Wow Mechelle! What a great day you had! And met new friends also! Doesn't get any better than that!
Flower, when I grow gourds, usually leave them till the vine starts to wither away, but if you want to pick them first, just watch for the stem to the gourd to start to turn yellowish color and pick, wait a week or so and break open for seeds, or leave the seeds in until you want to use them. They can dry inside the gourds. I only planted the little snake gourds this year, thought they might be pretty for fall decorations. Planted late and don't have any yet though.
Flower, Mechelle- your packages are going out today.
Flower, you are about to get d-mail.
Good Morning everybody! How is everyone today? It's been raining out since last night so I think I'm just going to get all my trades and packages done today and lay low. I'm so glad you guys liked the auction.. And where IS Cue? Hope she's feeling ok. Mekos let's take a break from the auction this week and I will do a veggie seed one starting next week. I will add surprises for every bid of Heirloom seeds. How's that sound? Starting Monday. So everyone, heads up, start collecting your firepower this week for bid wars next week! Have a good day my friends.. will ttyl I'm sure. Can't stay away for too long! I don't even hardly check my personal email anymore!
Sounds great Mechelle. I'm busy packing boxes too. I think we all need a break from the auction to gather seeds. You really are a natural born auction doer. Loved it-even if i didn't win. (pouting) Do I get any sympathy? (maybe don't answer that-it might break my feelings.)
Al you got lots of friends.Jump in when you hear of something you want. We ALL share-Happy to. If I have anything, just tell me.
A man was sick and tired of going to work every day
while his wife stayed home.
He wanted her to see what he went through so he prayed:
I go to work every day and put in 8 hours while my wife
merely stays at home.
I want her to know what I go through.
So, please allow her body to switch with mine for a day.
God, in his infinite wisdom,
granted the man's wish.
The next morning, sure enough, the man awoke as a woman...
He arose, cooked breakfast for his mate,
Awakened the kids,
Set out their school clothes,
Fed them breakfast,
Packed their lunches,
Drove them to school,
Came home and picked up the dry cleaning,
Took it to the cleaners
And stopped at the bank to make a deposit,
Went grocery shopping,
Then drove home to put away the groceries,
Paid the bills and balanced the check book.
He cleaned the cat's litter box and bathed the dog..
Then, it was already 1 P.M.
And he hurried to make the beds,
Do the laundry, vacuum,
Dust, And sweep and mop the kitchen floor.
Ran to the school to pick up the kids and got into an argument
with them on the way home.
Set out milk and cookies and got the kids organized to do their homework.
Then, set up the ironing board and watched TV while he did the ironing.
At 4:30 he began peeling potatoes and washing vegetables for salad,
breaded the pork chops and snapped fresh beans for supper.
After supper, He cleaned the kitchen,
Ran the dishwasher,
Bathed the kids, and put them to bed.
At 9 P.M. He was exhausted and, though his daily chores
weren't finished, he went to bed where he was expected to
make love, which he managed to get through without complaint.
The next morning, he awoke and immediately knelt by the bed and said: -
Lord, I don't know what I was thinking.
I was so wrong to envy my wife's being able to stay home all day.
Please, Oh! Please, let us trade back.. Amen!'
The Lord, in his infinite wisdom, replied:
'My son, I feel you have learned your lesson and
I will be happy to change things back to the way they were.
You'll just have to wait nine months, though.
You got pregnant last night.'
HI Everyone. Did some cleaning up in the flower beds this morning, cleaned house s little, was hoping to go to town and do the paperwork but it will be tomorrow afternoon before we go. His boss is back and already wearing him out.
Tubby I've had a few friends and sisters in law wish that last one on their husbands after they smarted off that being pregnant wasn't a big deal.
Need prayers for two little babies. Miles, 2 months has viral mengitis and Caleb 2 years has a bacterial infection and both are in the hospital right now. So far Miles seems to be doing well still waitinig to find out what kind of bacterial infection Caleb has but he was up and eating breakfast this morning. Both boys are great nephews of mine.
Mindy, of course our prayers are with your little ones! Praying for them everyday for a speedy and complete recovery. There is nothing worse, I don't think, than watching sick little ones. Makes you feel so helpless when you can't make them all better. Be sure and keep us posted as to how they are doing, please.
Mindy, so sorry about the boys, I was out packing up trades. I will be praying for them and hope they are well SOON!
No, Seray, didn't plant the fescue seeds yet. these should be something else. I planted several and moved the containers before getting the name stickers on them.-but does look like grass right now. My puya sprouted and SOoooooo many hibiscus seeds that Faye sent me and I can't remember her DG name to tell her her package is on it's way to her as well. BUT FAYE THEY ARE.
Flower, waiting for your list, so I don't forget half of them.
OH Seray, Almost forgot, the purple/blue cup flower seeds are sprouting. Very tiny green poking out.
HI everyone. Caleb may get to come home today Miles maybe tomorrow. Thanks for the prayers.
Mekos those flowers are pretty do I have any from you? LOL just kidding
Flower you sure are growing some big gourds there.
Well I hope the little guys do ok there isn't anything worse than a sick child.
Well Mindy they were suppose to be the bushel gourds but they just didn't get as big as they were suppose to but still big enough to do what I want with them. The biggest one I want to make a flower pot out of then maybe the smaller ones I'll make bird houses out of them.
Just got back from the hospital, my friend Faye with the heart attack is coming home today, so going over there to see about her and take some food for later. May not be on much tonight but back later. Thanks for all the prayers. She is much better.
hey all how is everyone

arejay i am sending yours out tomorrow after work, got called in today more overtime yippee

Flower we grew bushel gourds last year..Some were bigger than basket ball.might help to pinch off end of vine..Make the energy go to gourds..Maybe even pick off the small baby gourds..Just my 2 cents..LOL
goodmorning all .. My computer crashed so now im using my sons and its an enter at your own risk sort of deal in his room...He'd rather I not be in here at all, ha but I cant go without feeding my addiction to DG... I have loads of ornamental gourd seeds if any one wants some...I have a huge gourd vines(mixed) growing on my porch with gourd hanging everywhere... Ill see if can load my camera software on his computer so I can share them with you...If you want gourd seeds dmail me...Im having a harder time with his computer than mine I wouldnt want to miss anyone who was interested...theres white one's green and yellow ones(we call these john deere gourds cause of the color), green and white ones, solid greens, some bird house house gourds...Any way I got about 10 different daylily varieties planted yesterday between the rain...that a neighbor shared with me...Ill be glad when the rain stops here...lol we either to dry or to wet...
That was a cute cup and saucer plant..I have 5 seeds now I cant wait to plant them see how they look when blooming...
Good Morning guys! I feel so lazy, I slept in this morning! I know, where the heck has everybody been? Gonna have a busy day today, sorta.. Today is my son's actual 18th b-day and we are taking him to look at this truck he wants. I will check in with you guys.. HAGD
Hey you guys, just got on here this morning, got to go get in the shower, now and off for a while. All my buddies shoud know by now, as soon as me gets blooms, me buds will all get seeds. Me not forget ye. Just sowed the last of my seeds a few days ago and they are sprouting now. My venusta and metalicblue puya is also sprouting along with white kaka beak, many hardy hibiscus-different colors, My Jade vine is growing up a storm, it is putting on clusters of leaves all over. It made a Y shape and has 2 vines going up. it's the emerald color, of blue/green, can't wait for blooms. I think my ylang ylang vine has sprouted. Here is a picture of my baby brug. She is growing SOooooo fast. My princess and her earring tree right behind her to the right in the black pot and some flame vine sprouted in the orange striped pot and pink jasmine at the right edge of the picture, my jade vine running up a stand by the big4x4 post on the left side. I have about 50 pots out there sprouting. (Might be big enough to survive santa's big bag around Christmas.) Have to think about that one- maybe a christmas themed auction LATER on. Lots of goodies out there. Well, back later.
Heck, it musta heard me, no more rain, not even enough to make a drip off the house. foowey. or as starlight says- fudge. I know GOD gonna turn her loose in His big garden in the sky one day and let her collect seeds to her hearts content. He gotta love her. How is everyone doing today? Mindy are the kids better? Loca and Cue, any sprouts of the brug kind? Blondie, are you done working, yet? Got to have time for some fun, all work and no play is for a very dull blondie. What happened to the weekly scrambles, or unscrambles? What happened to all our fun we use to do? Did scotty beam up everyone? I guess I'm just talking to my self again. Good night everyone.
HI Everyone. Caleb is home and happy to be there but now his Mommy is feeling unwell may have caught it from him. Miles has to go through 2 more tests today they think one test was contaiminated so making sure on him. Daddy says he's doing well though and just happy as can be loves to "talk" to every nurse who comes by his bed.
Well tried to do the paperwork this morning for mail delivery. NO GO. Postmaster was either busy or about to leave for lunch and must have told my SIL to deal with it. SHE says have to look into it even though lady at the window told her it was ready to go just needed the paperwork. GRRR Lady at window said Postmaster will call us today about it I'm giving him until 3 to do so then if he's not called by then I'm calling him. That particular SIL is not one of my favorite people at any time though I adore my niece from her.
Oh well, I got seeds and cuttings in the mail today so that makes it better.
I'm assuming she doesn't know we already went through all the hoop hoola and got the OK Friday that it was official yesterday.
Mekos I'm going one better lady at window gave me a change of address form to fill out and it says I can do it online at their site. I'll wait and see what the magistrate says when DH calles him. He's in school or at work right now so have to wait to call him. Whoever answered the phone told me to go ahead and fill it out and use our 911 physical address for the new one.
OK, I made a thread for everyone to make a list of their seeds they HAVE available to trade on the seed forum. Go list them. ONLY what you have for trade-the things you WANT still go on the other thread.
OH forgot. I just talked to our neighbor lady and they have horses and I ask if we could buy the manure or just have it and she said we could have all we wanted Yahoo !!! I wasn't really wanting to have to buy all of it I needed, so now I don't haveta. I just might get to start me a Lasagna bed. and still have enough to put on our regular garden.
Great Flower. That will be a good one. I always heard the horse manure was the best one. Because horses only eat certain greens, It's better for the gardens.
I made the thread on the seed forum but (sorry) I don't know how to do that link stuff. It's over there by the one for list what you want here. Mine is list what you have here.
Can't let "them" get all the good trades. We can still get in there and be nice too. I'm trying to be nice you guys. I almost went and listed them all(200 or more) one at a time, each on a new thread. That would have been mean-ish. Oh well, I got a big bag here for arejay too, just waiting for a few more to add to it before sending it. We'll keep the auction going and next week, a couple days before time, I'll announce it at the TOP post of mine. Hehehe And we keep posting and keep it at the top od the list. I'm not dumb, just nice. More ways than one to skin a cat.(owww, sorry Cue) more ways than one to get er done.
Information on horse manure, while it is very good'' nutrients wise'' it will also add weed seeds (if not left to heat first) .If you can find someone with goats it is better , because they are ruminants it destroys weed seeds.
Ah ha, I filled mine with goat manure. Hehehe Have bunches of it since I have several goats. However with the scraps of food I threw in, I now have cantelopes, tomatoes and peppers all sprouting in there,Along with an earthworm snake, and my lasagna bed is for flowers. The earthworm snake was evicted, but the vegies keep coming back. Mostly tomatoes and jalepenyo peppers.(probably didn't spell that correct.) As soon as I get the 3-4 inches of top soil on there, I'm going to cover it with plastic to kill off any left over seeds or weeds or germs, until spring.
I know Flower, I didn't think about the seeds of the scraps sprouting. I think when I cover it and the sun shines on the plastic it will heat up the pile so hot it will kill anything growing . So maybe that will help. I can't believe how quiet it is. Where is everyone?
hi peeps, just checking in. Been a hectic ( but fun ) weekend, and a busy week so far.
Son has several class assignments coming up.. book report, science project and a diorama on the Ice Age due in a couple of weeks, so , busy busy busy. might not be on as much for awhile... gotta get this stuff done and all, but will check in when I can :)
Put soil in a pot, sprinkled the seeds on top, sprayed with water bottle and set on heat mat with grow light on top. The key is warmth, not so much the light. I just kept inside where there wasn't much light so I needed the grow light. But they sprouted after a little over a week and growing great.
Night Flower. Don't cook em, Seray. I cooked some water lily pads, I was trying to get to grow a new one. But I finally got it figured out and got babies out there now. Did the vivap thing on my tropical Tina. Woo hoo. It worked. Now, just got to keep them over winter without freezing them to death. Man.
Good morning all! Good to know that we are all busy! Spent all day hauling manure yesterday, so wasn't here much. But, today I will check in once in awhile, as now have to unload it and get some things planted. Have lots of work to get done outside, now that winter is so close! And still collecting seeds, of course, and will have to go thru them all and see what I can put together for a list of haves to trade too! Mekos, so glad your friend is doing well and home! And Mindy, so happy to hear the boys are doing much better too! Sending prayers for their Mom now! BBL
Well!! I sure got my butt in a jam...again. Must like to talk too much on the wrong threads. I guess I'm more of a chiit chatter than a trader but I like to do both. Thank you all for the Guidiance, Lord, knows I need it.
I know. Sometimes it is like "open mouth, insert foot" good thing I don't have big feet. :-) I know how to get in trouble,
sure don't need any help. I pop in and out of the house several times a day and when ever I do if I need a question
answered I just pop on here.
Yep, that's what makes us so darn lovable. Sometimes I have to resort to D-mail
and if I can't talk or show enough I send folks to my E-mail. What's wrong with me???
But I know I am not the only one this silly. Just got to "grin and bear it" We are a tough
lot aren't we?
Hello everyone. Good to see you with us Ride. We don't fuss at anyone here, the ones out there are the rule enforcers (mostly their own rules). Our rules are to HAVE FUN AND help out your fellow man or WOman. We just got these new "digs" and some haven't found us just yet. We got booted for talking too much too, by the same crowd. I just realized how mislead I was by WHO runs this place. I always THOUGHT it was DG team. Well, it seems to be self appointed police. How ever we try to keep peace.
I do think your flower is purple hyacinth bean mine had bloomed for long it was filling with seed pods. I have it in white also. A bird could have dropped the seed and they will grow just about anywhere.
there is a pea vine that it could be as well. Can you show the leaf of yours again? Is it heart shaped, green with maybe purple veins around it.
Hello everyone.. Hope your day is going good so far!
Hi Cue! we were wonderin' 'bout 'ya.. glad you had a good time.. Good to see you here. We decided to do the next auction starting next Sunday night. Veggie auction, same rules as last time but Surprises for Heirloom Seeds.. Me as the auctioneer! I always wanted to be an auctioneer.. It's amazing to watch them, lol!
Ride, welocome and looks like you're going to fit in just fine here. We do and say what we want to here and have fun.. we are like a big gardening family here and we look out for each other.. We share knowledge, plants, seeds, chit- chat, whatever and whenever we want to. So make yourself at home and grab a Mojito. We've always got plenty of those too!
Mekos, you need to tell me more about the heat pad thing.. I have a problem with "losing" my seeds and having to unbury the little buggers. How can I fix that little problem? I am happy to report that I have 1 Hardy Hibiscus sprout and 3 Rose of Sharon Blue Satin Sprouts! I can't wait for those- they are sooo pretty! I had a very generous DG'er send me a nice variety of Hollyhock seeds, so I am going to start them. I think I will make a lasagna bed for just Hollyhocks. I like the idea of having them all together and being able to find a home for them later. I also need to start some purple coneflower. I was bummed when I learned they bloom the 2nd year, but oh well. They're worth the wait.
Listen- we started talking about something in the Lasagna Bed Brigade yesterday and I just want to bring it up again. If ya'll think I'm completely crazy, I understand! You guys were joking about coming to my house.. after I finished roflmao, I thought "Hey, that might be fun" What do you guys think about having an "Annual DG Flower Fest" where we all get together late spring? I am completely serious and would love to host it. We could switch it up and go to each others place of choice each year, or have it here every year. I don't care either way. Let's talk about it some more. These kind of things are my forte, so I would absolutely love it if we did it. I'm a good planner and organizer and could do some awesome things with this idea. And from what I can see, not many of us would have to travel too far. Lemme know!
TTYS, gotta go get boxes packed for PO today! Mechelle
Great idea Mechelle on the flower get together. I'd love it if I'm able to go at that time.
Keep in mind also that hollyhocks bloom the second year.
OH MAN, I want a blue satin, I have pink, white, blueish/purple colors-rose of sharon and a double rosy wine color and blushing bride color of Althea. Blue satin is my favorite color.
Maybe I will be able to grow some.
Mojitos and Turkey sammiches, everyone. Dinner is served!!!!! Pull up a chair and sit down beside it.
Goodmorning everyone...Still raining here...grrrr...I want to see the sunshine, tho I dont miss the 100 degree weather...I got all my flowers planted in my veggie garden between rain showers. It did catch me right in the middle of planting some daylilies and came a downpour.. DH isnt crazy about me putting flowers in the veggie garden, he is ready to plant his turnip greens...But till Its dry enough to prepare another LB he will have to deal with it...We dont eat turnip greens any way just grow them to give away and watch something growing in the garden... ha so we can watch those daylilies and irises grow that I planted...Hope you all have a great day..
I gotta shampoo my carpet while DH is off work to help..TTYL Trish
All parts of the daylilies are edible. The pods, flowers, tubers. Just tell your DH that this is the gourmet green bed and if he doesn't enjoy all those gorgeous flowers you'd be happy to serve them as a side dish. LOL Here's some recipes:
LOL you all with hubbys fussing at your gardening. Mine started that way now he's not only finding me plants and seeds he's also asking me what kind of seeds you all are sending me in the mail. To be fair to him he's always brought me plants but just recently started saving seeds for me.
Good to know they eventually come around, Mindy - lol. Mine will build me whatever I need, but that's about as far as it goes. Oh, and he doesn't cry too much about the $$ I spend, so I guess he's a keeper . . .
WOOO HHHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! PINK SPATULA!!!! Here we come!!!!!!! Making cookies for tonight. Ya hoo. Seeds galore!!! mosquito dunkers- wow! Plants too. I'm in heaven, has to be!!!! You blessed angels. Love you guys! Mojitos for the house. Cookies tonight for chatting. WOOO-HOOOO
Igot some Chard seed, still in packet. Want some ? I still don't know what i'm going to do with it.
But it is very well illustrated. I know, it was the beauty of the picture. Mine goes to(DH) mailbox and never knows what I'm getting.
I love my packages of plant goodies, And sharing too. Yep, I'm in the right place.
Oh, thank you, mekos, I am happy to be here. Don't like turmoil. Did not sleep well last night,
tonight will be better. I will get pic of leaves but not right now. Download time for pic. is terrible.
But will get it. I got them this morning . Finally loaded.
My DH keeps getting the packets out of the mailbox and asking me if I'm sure that this legal. Yesterday I 'found' some lily seeds on campus while picking my daughter up from school and excitedly told him about it when I got home. He rolled his eyes and said that some day he's going to walk in and catch me crushing flower seeds and snorting them. LOL
hey lolly, everywhere i go i get seeds my husband told me he wont bail me out of jail if i get arrested for it. said i deserved to sit while my seeds are confiscated lol
they dont understand it is a sickness, like alcohol, we have this uncontrolable urge to collect seeds and plants. i got my kids doing it too lol figure they would go lighter on the kids lol
well mekos where are you i am in need of your assistance
it is an emergency lol
I'm so glad I found you guys,(had to do some searching),I don't like to type, but I enjoy reading you guys chat,it makes me laugh. And I needed to laugh today,I feel so old, my youngest son turns 25 today.
I was thinking around the end of April or May. I have lots of good ideas such as guest speakers, flower & plant sales, bake sale.. It could be as big or small as we want it to be. The local extension office is 10 minutes away and I'll betcha I could get the local master gardeners to come do a few booths on different things. What do you guys think?
LollyJean, I'm glad to know that my DH isn't the only one who thinks our seeds are suspicious. He's just waiting for the police to discover my Mexican Sunflower, says he just hopes he's got enough money for bail!
HI Granny glad you popped in to see what we are up to. Sounds like your DH doesn't want to do without you very long if he's worrying about getting enough money to bail you out. DH does frown me me swiping cuttings though there's a bush at the PO that has the most beautiful pink flowers a camellia I think. He told if I snitched a piece he wasn't going to bail me out. I told him he would cause I take care of all those little details that make his life so comfortable LOL. But he does collect seeds from his friends places and his boss's wife's flowers.
The baby Miles got to come home today so both boys are now home. Caleb is having a minor setback though so back to the dr locally for him in the morning.
I'm back blondie.
Hello everybody. No old people here except me, that job is mine- you can't have it.
I don't think they would arrest me, it would cost the county too much for my medical bills, they couldn't afford to arrest me. They would just give me the seeds and push me out the door.
Hi grannie, Welcome to the palace. I didn't remember seeing you before. Glad you joined us. The motel is getting busy. You will like our new poll and mojitos every night and tonight cookies from my new pink spatula. Pinya colada cookies. So good. I also made black cherry jello to go over cheese cake flavored jello pudding, topped with whip cream. Enjoy everyone.
How about a central place with a Botanical Gardens close by. Someplace we could all fly into. Warm in the dead of winter for our northern friends. Say Miami next to Fairchild tropical gardens. It'd take Robin 2 days to get to TN. Loca you would probably be the same. Skellogg would have to start a week in advance. :) Fly in -quick, easy, home to water the garden Monday! If we use our credit cards with the milage over Christmas (do they still have that option) maybe we could have enough to pay for the flight. I can get us a corp rate at a hotel with a pool of course. We could go to South Beach. ROTFL Let someone else make the margaritas and drive us home.
then I'll just have to enjoy myself with these nice folks. Chard planting season is now or in the Spring.
I may have to wait til spring. Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons. Life springing forward, and
resting til spring. May need that recipe, please. Locakelly may have to take you up for it. Like recipes
OK Blondie, where you been? I'm back. I went outside to see what my dog was barking at and there was a beautiful pigeon in my walk way. Walked right to my front door and I reached down and picked it up. It's banded with a green band.
Hey-I just got a letter from Social Security yesterday, they've decided that I am disabled--woo-hoo, got a small chunk of change coming, we could just go on my dime, if I can talk DH into it,He's got some crazy notion about paying off the mortgage!
I have some NOID brugs, if you need a donation. Singles, as far as I know. Got two I don't know what they are. One is setting buds.
This one has Y's with Y's , it is a most amazing plant. It is getting ready to bloom again. Have a white one and it is a Late bloomer.
It always drags along.
boy mekos from florida to africa you are doing alot of traveling lol
i am going to hit the hay gotta get up early and go to work yuk alot of work to do tomorrow i have about a dozen cakes to frost brownies to make so they will be stocked up for the weekend yippee almost here
Just a few days. They were quick. They are only a couple days old in the picture. I also sowed yellow hardy hibiscus and pink and wine and white. They all sprouted. Got to go for now, talk to ya tomorrow. good night all.
Good Morning Everyone,
Wow this is turning into one of those big families you use to hear about, Welcome Grannie and Redmule...It is nice to have you. You have all again been busy, busy, Bees. Thank You Seray for pointing out the lack of easily accessed flights from Maine to anywhere... I do get to Tampa on occasion... So Miami is only across the State. I have been through Miami but never stopped...One time I wanted to go to AroostookCounty, here in Maine, I was in a hurry as it takes 5 hrs to drive there I thought Ill fly in do what I need to do and fly home. I had been on the road for weeks. I found a flight it took 5.5 hrs to fly and I had to leave Portland 1 hr drive from where I was park 1hr production in Portland fly to Boston then back to Aroostook County ...Imagine it...I drove . No Jan there are no Florida tree orchids in Aroostook County either...
Have a wonderful Day Everyone I will be in the yard for as much as I can today, frost is coming. Maybe three days left to close up ...:(
Snow will be here soon
Good morning all! Boy, Robin, you aren't kidding there! And I am NOT ready for winter, at least not yet! But then, I'm not sure that I ever am ready for it. I love fall, but it just never seems to last long enough. Sure hope this winter is not as bad as last winter! One of the coldest on record, with snow from October on! Yep, gotta spend a lot of time outside getting beds ready for it! Collecting milk jugs for winter sowing now, too. Gotta finish unloading a pickup full of manure, too!
Hey Flower, Morning! I get all mine from DS ranch. They raise sheep, cattle, and paint horses. She always loads it for me with a tractor, but I have to unload it by hand. She lives about 75 miles down the road, so it's a haul! But the price is right, and it sure is nice not having to load it at least! LOL!
arejay, cue? Can one of you tell me how to get a link to copy and paste into a newly composed mail. Everytime I try it won't go in. I know I am doing something wrong but what I don't know. I have been trying to get the new link into the newbies mail and it just keeps putting the old one back in.
I'd probably do something different if I had to load by hand too! LOL Sure that I wouldn't be hauling as much! Here's a pic of my last load, and what I still have to unload. This is after I took some out for existing beds yesterday. Probably unloaded about 4 wheelbarrows full already! This is from a pile that is about 1 and half years old. Sure makes my old pickup squat! LOL!
Thank You , Robin for the welcome . It is nice to be here. Oh, I don't like to think of winter,
I know you all have rough ones. I know what winter is like. I was born in Mo. but I sure don't
want to go back. I love it down here. But we do have winter, the snow just doesn't linger for
months like it does in Mo. I'm going to have to read up on the Lasagna gardening. there is one called a
Keyhole gardening too, that is interesting. I believe I read about it on one of these forums early
this year. So may ways to gaden and so many things to learn. I love it.
Think of the plants that truck load of manue will grow. Looks beautiful to me. Just a lot of
LOL! I get to load off the 2 1/2 year old pile next, if I use all of this pile. But, that won't be till spring, I'm sure, and then it will be 3 year old stuff. Perfect for top coating everything. Janie, I sure miss living in the country. You are lucky, for sure! Wonder how much good it will do to put it on top of the snow?
arejay I tried that and it wants a name before I can even compose the mail. It doesn't want to let me set up a compose with out a name and I don't want to put names in it as I don't know who I'll be sending to.
sk - that's a pretty big load of poo you got there - lol. We have a lot of dairies around and you can just pop in and ask for it. In my line of work I have the inside scoop as I deal with some of them daily. You can buy a 50# bag of aged manure for $3, but mostly I get it fromt hem for free.
I miss living in the country, too. Born and raised in beautiful Aroostook County, Maine - right, Robin? But it sure is c-c-c-c-cold in the wintertime! That I don't miss . . .
I miss skiing and snowmobiling and ice fishing though...
Robin - I know what you mean about flights into Maine - been there, done that - easier to drive - lol.
Guess what !!! GAgirl had an agave that she was getting rid of the pups and I ask for one for postage. Got it today and she sent me a Leather leaf fern that I have been wanting forever . Just was tickled to death to get it. More excited about that than the agave. LOL
I believe it must be to collect waste water. the Basket is used as a compost bin. At least that is what i was thing.
There is another article on growing a garden in a bag. I guess over there they are lucky to have anything. Did You see where they were putting those tin cans in the bottom for iron, and they looked like they had been burned. I sure thought I would like to do it, but carrying those rocks is what is going to tear me up. fell off too many critters. Just have to make up my mind to do it. Couldn't ask DH he would think I fell on my head too many times. :-)
I think the lasagna beds are easier. Couldn't pay me to stack that many blocks. Earthboxes on benches are my kinda gardening I guess. For that environment it's perfect though.
Might be adapted for a cool goth garden, cave and all. LOL You could probably use some of the hypertufa techniques to make it lighter and look more like a grotto. We have a Goth Garden adviser, Cue and Mechelle is taking a class for hypertufa. Maybe once all our lasagna gardens are filled we could find another group project. Chicken wire, paper and porter cement will go along way. And make an incredible MESS! LOL What fun!!!
Yes, concrete blocks, it would be faster than brick. You could always
use the hypertufa to finish the outside. Love playing in the mud.
When my little church cures,I'll have to get you all a pic. I am going
to put it in my flower garden. Got these done but I decorated them a bit. Oe on the left is supposed to be a barn. one on th right,
just a little house. they are cute as can be.
OK that is just a rocked in Lasagna bed . I heard of keyhole gardening as taking concrete blocks with holes in them and filling with soil, compost and the like mixed and then putting your plants in the holes. I don't remember where I heard it but when you all were talking about this that is what came to my mind.
Yep! That's all it is really. I don't know why it would have to be that high. Seems like a lot of the soil would never get used. And the cans wouldn't add much unless the plants had deep root systems. Maybe I'm thinking 'waist high' for me and not those kids. But it did have a barrel in the middle didn't it. :)
Yes, I like the tomatoes in a pot idea. But just thought someone may find it interesting.
, Fill the pots once and then plant the tomato plant, take it out in winter thaen repeat yourself.
Here is my husbands tomatoes in a pot. See, doesn't this look easier? Fill the bottom of a large pot
with manure. Top it off with soil and pot the tomatoe in.
Hello everyone! Just wanted to pop in and say hey real quick. I am getting ready to head out to do some digging in the rain for a bit. Hope everyone has a good day and welcome to our "group" ride and granny!
I have a problem, you all. I have this Starfish cactus just bloomed. when I was trying to turn her around,
I broke pieces off the plant. Wouldn't someone like a start?
Here is the bloom. Send me D-mail with address and I'll gladly send you a start. Really don't need any more pots
got more to bring in from summer.
ok. LOL I got so excited about it I didn't remember to give you my addy. I have been getting a lot of succulents and catcus lately DH loves them and he has got me hooked on them.
The last time we were at Lowes we bought several that were marked down to half price and then I just got an aloe from budgielover and then an agave from GAgirl today. I have looked at a lot of them on ebay and they want a small fortune for them. I didn't realize catcus and succulents were that expensive.
Hi everyone. Just checking in for a minute to catch up. I'll check back before going to bed. Haven't felt good today. Been laying around all day. My bloodpressure is up and head hurts, but don't know why, I haven't eaten anything to cause it to go up. (I don't think). I'm liking this cool weather, even if it is sprinkling a little. This is good for the plants. WOW Arejay, frost this early????? We hardly ever get ANY snow, but the cold days like that are usually in NOV. or DEC., then JAN, FEB, and MARCH. April brings warm and planting weather. I think we got 1 dusting of snow last year, 1-2 inches, and maybe one the year before. It's been a while since we got any real snow. I wouldn't know how to act with snow. Probably have a snowball fight. My husband is always wanting to move to Alaska. He loves the snow as much as me. Well, talk to yall later.
hi everyone and welcome newbies
well how is everyone this evening seems awful quiet in here tonight, i have tomorrow off and i am going to my favorite nursery yippeeeee with all that overtime my check was nice. treating my self to something special dont know what it is yet but i will find something.
well i am off to bed early had a long day see ya all tomorrow and will show all the goodies i got
RRM, sorry about the cactus. I just got one in the mail today. So pretty.
I was just wondering, (this question is for everyone) just curious- I've seen different colored flower pots and if everyone had to choose, what color would you choose? Would you choose your favorite color or choose the color that would match your porch area or what? and what color would it be? I'll tell you why later(and I'm not buying flower pots, just wondering about colors), so please tell me what color would you like to put a flower or vine in, on your porch or in your house or what ever. What would be your favorite color? Come on everyone, I really would like to know.
My favorite color. I like the Terra Cotta color. It goes with about everything. It's red
without being brilliant red. But Green is my favorite color, Then Orange.
Is that too many colors. I have different colors. I'm not very Organized.
If you know of someone wants a starfish send them my way. I got plenty.
Thank you- AL. I'm checking in and out to see the colors so please keep on. I appreciate this. When you talk to someone and get their personality, (or when I do) I get a feeling of colors toward the person. Like with some foods- I taste something and taste a color- grape tastes like purple, epsom saltz is green, (my daddy used to make us take a spoon ful as medicine when I was a kid) honey is yellow, strawberry is red, etc. Personalities are colors too. ( I think Cue's color scheme is black- loca is pink, arejay is lavender, mindy is light blue) So this is why I'm asking to see what I thought, verses, to what you really like. I would imagine AL, as green, Mechelle red, Blondie purple, Seray tan or beige, and so forth but would appreciate it if you would tell me what your favorite color would be if you had a flower in a pot and what color would you pick for the pot- then what your favorite color is. I'm not up to anything, just a curiosity thing.
WOW. Thanks Arejay. Anyone care to say the MONTH they were born? I was born in Dec. - blue birthstone. My husband was born in May- emerald green birthstone. My favorite color is blue( turquoise)- blue and green!?! But as a pot or trim of outside- I like cherry bark red. My favorite flowers would be tropical colors- like orange or purples and yellows and mixes of those colors. Anyone ever thought about a color for a person? I guess I'm just weird. I like to match up a person to a color. I think this is interesting.
Mekos you seem blue to me. Flower is bright red or orange. Al is yellow. Cue is purple. Blond is blond. LOL Robin is rainbow mix browns and oranges and lavenders, Hollyhock is orangy yellow, Mechelle is pine green, Skellogg is light yellow, Loca is orangy rust, Lollyjean is lavender pink, Who did I miss? Ridesredmule is rusty red.
I also like terra cotta, earth tones, tans, browns, dk greens, rust, etc. Don't like pastels at all. Even painted all the rooms in our house in earth tones. Favorite color to wear is probably red, tho. Born in July, ruby birthstone.
Ok, my month is May.. My favorite color is purple.. I have chosen terra cotta, dark green, grey, white planters lately and did an off white for hanging planters to match my porch. But just to confuse everybody, lol, I really like earth tones. My wedding colors were burgundy & hunter green.. I like hunter green with tan a lot. But when I go clothes shopping, I always tend to like black. My school uniforms are all black, so lately I have bought even more black. I just think it's a good color on me, idk. I am up so late, got my sleep schedule mixed up.. Gotta start going to bed a little earlier, lol.

By the way if everyone is happy with the thread we are on and it isnt slowing you down we can just continue...you all know how I like to watch the numbers. I make a new one so that people with dial up can still get in to visit...Let me know.
Well it seems there is no option to close this thread. If someone finds it...Let me know..
Seray...Robin is rainbow mix browns and oranges and lavenders, You peeked!!
Jan I was born in July as a young person my favorite colors were Red, Purple and yellow...I still love them. But Browns , oranges and lavenders have become what I use as I have aged.
I were alot of green, brown , Rust tones. Yellow or white in the summer.
been so busy here with work and school. Kid comes home with so much to do, it almost feels like IM in 5th grade all over again ( and I dont recall having this much work when I was in 5th grade.. hrmmm)
Hope everyone is well. will have more time during the weekend to chit chat. Miss you all!
Morning Cue! I know what you mean about school work, and don't understand that. Especially around here, as they have lowered all their standards on what students should be learning in their efforts to "leave no student behind". Seems they spend all their time trying to figure out what to send them home with for school work instead of class room work. Just glad I don't have to go back to school! Wouldn't want to be a student now!
Good morning arejay! OK, what am I doing wrong? When I tried the link to the new thread, it took me to the lasagna brigade instead of chit chat. Hope this isn't a clue as to how the day will be. Don't want to spend the whole day struggling with everything! LOL!
I want to share something with you all this was posted today on verse daily it is written by my sister she had no idea what we were all talking about. I hope you all enjoy.
Girl in a Purple Dress
Riding her bike down Water Street
Her bare legs flash as she pedals
Purple sandals strapped across her ankles
No hat, no scarf,
No watch or bauble
Her hair loose, the sun
Whips through it
No painted toes
No bag of groceries
Just a girl's purple skirt
Flaring in the breeze
Skating across her knees
The bike old-fashioned
Long-horn handle bars
Not a speck of new paint
Gliding down the sidewalk
Her colorless hair flung up
Reveals her bare ears
Her pink forehead
Parts the wind
Not a pocket
Not a pearl
Simple as the color of the sky
Hovering over the ocean
Dusk the color of morning glories
Her eyes fixed like field stones
On the road
Lovely poem Robin. That was pretty much me when I was a girl just substitute shorts for the skirt and tennis shoes for the sandels. Only difference is the hair mines brown and was short when I was riding bikes. Had lots of bike wrecks too LOL.
mekos how are you feeling?? wow mekos this color thing, my month is coming soon yippee
what color am i you know me my flowers have got to be purple, of course that is my favorite of all, but i like red, blue emerald greed is nice too, black i like most dark colors, and earth tones too not too picky.

Mekos, My birthday month is October, October is clean up month
for the Garden and I love to plant bulbs too. Right now I am ahead of myself trying
to get things in and finding places for them that is right. Thatis a challenge, right there.
Hello e1,Just getting caught up with the chit chat. I love poems that make you have a vision in your mind as you read them. That was a very nice compliment seray. ;-) Cue, good to see you. We've been waiting for you to come chat with us! Blonde I remember those days. One year all 3 of my kids played soccer and of course my Dh worked Saturdays. They each had a game at the same time at 3 different schools. I had to drop one off, tell a trusted parent I'd be back and go to the next one. By the time I got back to the first game, it was over, and the 2nd, and the 3rd. Talk about stressful! We never did soccer again after that, lol. I was a cub scout committee mom, we did baseball, football, and I worked in all 3 of the kids' classrooms. Don't know how I made it, lol. And then they turn 18 and tell you they can't wait to move out of the house.. go figure, lol. When they are little, you want them to grow up and be more self sufficient, and when they grow up, you say you wish they were little again. Crazy how fast time flies..
Hiya Mekos, getting ready to go put my new plants pots.. will take a pic for ya. It has RAINED every dang day since Monday and it is supposed to RAIN every dang day until next Wed or Thur.. I just wanna go outside!!
Robin - your sister is very talented. She can give our cue a run for her $$$.
Good to see you back, cue. I feel for you on the homework. I was a straight A student and I have trouble figuring out some of this weird work my 3rd and 5th graders are doing. What ever happened to good 'ol reading, 'riting and 'rithmatic???
Thanks for the info blondie. Gonna check that out!
I saw a thank you to the lasagna garden brigade on a thread in the Iris forum - lol. Meant to bookmark it and forgot. I think it was by Elizabethtown was her DG name? The thread where she is redoing her Iris beds maybe? I dunno - it was late and I was tired.
I am glad to see you made it. Do you see the link just above? We got a new thread this morning after I wrote to you. Be sure to check that one out too...We are always up to something here right everyone? Seray has a Lasagna garden thread going, Meekos has the Auction thread, Cue has the Brug thread...so much to do. We are working on favorite colors and birth month what are your Mysch?
well i got home from the nursery, can you believe nothing i did see the monkey puzzle tree, may go back and get it havent decided, think it is too hot here.
i did get seeds for the scarlet wisteria, sesbania grandflora, i think it was something mis marked, am going to try and grow that,.
I was just wondering about Mekos myself. Ilovejesus has also been sick and so was Cue.
Get well wishes for those that are under the weather. ((chicken noodle soup hugs))
Well, despite the ugly weather, I actually got a few things accomplished today. I snuck out as soon as the rain stopped! I put my Mexican Petunia from huneybunch in the ground today, put one of my new Var. Monkeygrass in the ground today, put both of my new cannas in the ground, and OMG, Put all of the Iris noids in the Iris Lasagna bed. I had enough to almost go around it once. Still have another bunch to dig up and replant. I put my Salvia and Black, Red, and Blue petunias from Mekos in their new pots unil the Goth Garden is ready, and put my new plants from jerodsmom in their planters until I decide where to put them. I go back to school next Tuesday so I may not be on as much but will try to check in with everybody each night. I still have to plant my Tropicana canna from Mekos, and figure out where I am going to put what's left of my Surprise Lilies. But, I do have quite a few extra of the Red Spider Lily bulbs. If anyone would like some, send me a dmail and sasbe. I have about 50 right now that I can share.
And that rain thought it was gonna keep me from going outside ! Ptttthh to the rain, lol
Hey you guys, still not feeling good yet, still got the headache but checking in. Thanks for the colors everyone. I love putting colors with people.
Hi Mysch, welcome. Any thoughts on your favorite colors? Your favorite flowers colors?
"Jiffy Mix" is a sterile soil mix used as a starting medium for many seeds and plants. It's a lightweight 50/50 mix of pulverized peat moss and vermiculite. The original "Jiffy" is manufactured by Ferry-Morse in Ohio (www.ferry-morse.com). There are several other brands of basically the same stuff under different names, you would have to ask at your local store. I have rooted several different plants with great success with Jiffy products and also use their pellets for tomato and pepper seed starts.
2. Always identify people in your yard before shooting at them.
3. It's considered tacky to take a cooler to church.
4. If you have to vacuum the bed, it is time to change the sheets.
5. Even if you're certain that you are included in the will, it is still rude to drive the U-Haul to the funeral home.
1. When decanting wine, make sure that you tilt the paper cup and pour slowly so as not to
"bruise" the fruit of the vine.
2. If drinking directly from the bottle, always hold it with your hands.
ENTERTAINING IN YOUR HOME:
1. A centerpiece for the table should never be anything prepared by a taxidermist.
2. Do not allow the dog to eat at the table, no matter how good his manners are.
1. While ears need to be cleaned regularly, this is a job that should be done in private
using one's OWN truck keys.
2. Even if you live alone, deodorant is not a waste of good money.
3. Use of proper toiletries can only delay bathing for a few days.
4. Dirt and grease under the fingernails is a social no-no, as they tend to detract from
a woman's jewelry and alter the taste of finger foods.
DATING (Outside the Family):
1. Always offer to bait your date's hook, especially on the first date.
2. Be assertive. Let her know you're interested: "I've been wanting to go out with you since
I read that stuff on the bathroom wall two years ago."
2. Establish with her parents what time she is expected back. Some will say 10:00 PM. Others might say "Monday." If the latter is the answer, it is the man's responsibility to get her to school on time.
1. Crying babies should be taken to the lobby and picked up immediately after the movie has ended.
2. Refrain from talking to characters on the screen. Tests have proven they can't hear you.
1. Livestock is usually a poor choice for a wedding gift.
2. Kissing the bride for more than 5 seconds may get you shot.
3. For the groom, at least, rent a tux. A leisure suit with a cummerbund and a clean bowling shirt can create a tacky appearance.
4. Though uncomfortable, say "yes" to socks and shoes for this special occasion.
1. Dim your headlights for approaching vehicles, even if the gun is loaded and the deer is in sight.
2. When approaching a four-way stop, the vehicle with the largest tires does not always have the right of way.
3. Never tow another car using panty hose and duct tape.
4. When sending your wife down the road with a gas can, it is impolite to ask her to bring back beer too..
5. Do not lay rubber while traveling in a funeral procession.
