About 15 years ago, my mother had an encounter with "Henry the Hanging Hummer"-- A hummingbird who was hanging upside-down from an electrical wire in her porch.
My parents watched "Henry" for several days, wondering if he was alive or dead.
One day, Henry had disappeared.
They remained mystified by this hummingbird, and the story of Henry the Hanging Hummer" was a regular story in their list of hummingbird tales to tell to visitors to their deep-woods of Minnesota home.

This morning, after I read this article, I had to call my mom and tell her about torpor.

Mom: "Wait long enough, and every mystery is solved!"

Great article! Thank you!
