Wondering what sort of ideas and preparations you all may have regarding taking care of our health as we approach the flu season. I thought there may be an opportunity to share "Best Practices".

I get the flu every year (and every year I get a vaccination). I'm told my suffering could be worse if I don't get a vaccination and I believe that to be true.

Last 3 years I've taken the last two weeks of December for vacation from work. I had flu symptoms and was down and out the entire time all three years. Instead, this year I'm taking the first two weeks of Dec vacation (maybe I'll avoid the "carriers" at work) + if I do get the flu at the end of the year I'll go on FMLA. Thus, avoid using my well deserved/earned vacation in bed.

I am stocking my cabinets with cold meds., frozen juice, soups, Kleenex. Avoid touching my face and am careful about where I put my hands when in public. I currently have hand sanitizer at my desk, in my car and in my purse. There are dispensers all over my workplace. I will not go to work if I'm sick and will admonish folks to stay home if they have symptoms. (our full blown medical/health care operation at work is adamant about good hygiene and staying home when ill).

Any tips you want to share?
