I had the nightmare situation of buying a house that had tons of ice plant between the yard and the street. What turned out to be worse was that it was full of yellow oxalis. My local nurseryman suggested salt. Now this isn't totally insane as ice plant will grow at the beach so rather than remove tons of ice plant I salted it. It did work, however it was rough on the ice plant. It's a good last ditch effort.
