I'm so happy today! I've been studying and studying my blooming dahlias trying to decide which ones I will have to get rid of next year. I have only a small area and they are way too crowded. I knew I had to scrap some of them so the rest will do well. As any of you dahlia lovers know, there are no unattractive dahlias so it has been a most unpleasant task.
I've been trying to get DH to help me decide which ones I "really don't like" (joke, joke). Yesterday, out of the blue, he said "Why don't you put them out by the road between the irises? It won't be difficult to plant them between them." kiss, kiss.
We have 550 feet of road frontage and 3-4 years ago we planted a couple of different kinds of purple historic iris in clumps all along the road. They have been a great hit with the neighbors but, of course, they last for only a little while. This will be the perfect answer!
Maybe I can even pick up a "few" more.
