Last year I purchased 10# of grass seed. I was not able to get it all sown before frost. Would I be able to use it this year? Or should I just pitch it out?

I don't know about grass in particular, but most seeds would still be OK after a year (as long as they've been stored somewhere dry that wasn't exposed to really extreme temperatures). You might get lower germination than you would if they were fresh, but since the alternative is throwing it out and spending more money on new seed I think it's worth a try with what you have first.

I've been able to use grass seed that was 2-3 years old. I keep it in a sealed, air tight container and use it for filling in thin spots in the lawn. Germination goes down a bit, but I certainly would try sowing seed after just 1 year. Good luck!
