I noticed this summer that my gaillardia 'arizona sun' has small white, round spots all over the leaves. I thought it was probably a fungus so I sprayed with Bayer Disease control. It doesn't seem to have helped.
Now, I finally found out what the culprit is, White Smut or the fungus Entyloma polysporum.
Do I need to remove the plant? Has anyone ever had this problem?
Will it spread to my other perennials, such as, echinacea, veronica spicata, daylilies, or coreopsis?
I hope it's not too late to save all my other plants in the bed!
I will post a pic later today of the leaves.
