The order was sent on September 9th from Austraila via expresspost, with a 7 day guaranteed delivery.
On September 13th the website said that it arrived in Canada and was sent to customs.
On September 15th, I read on the Canada Post website that the parcel had been released by customs to Canada Post for processing.
No delivery on the 16th, 17th.
n the 18th I called Canada Post. I got absolutely nowhere with the "customer service" person who answered the phone and asked to speak to a supervisor. This person told me that just because canada post's website said that customs had released our package, it didn't mean that customs had given it to them - it was "only on paper". "Give it a couple more days" she said.
By Monday the 21st, the message still hadn't changed on the website and I was furious, but also extremely busy at work so couldn't spend the time on phone - and of course calls have to be made between 8AM and 6PM local time - when I'm either at work or travelling to and from work.
Thursday the 24th, a person involved in the order started calling on my behalf. She was told that the package had been only released by customs the previous day, and that Canada Post had attempted delivery at my house that morning. I found out after work that night that it was a lie after going to my local postal substation where parcels would be taken if they cannot be delivered and it was not there.
Friday morning the 25th, the message on the website finally changed to say that at 6:56 a.m. that morning, the package had reached the main distribution centre for the Greater Toronto Area (Mississasuga) for processing.
Again my friend got on the phone to the relevant "customer service". She was told that out that even though Daivd Liddle had paid for expresspost, its only expresspost from Australia to Canada - once it gets to the intended country, its treated as regular, land-based mail, and that on Friday it would be sent to another distrubution centre closer to my home, on Monday would be sent to my local post office, and would likely be delivered on Tuesday. Three weeks for expresspost costing an extortionous amount of money, to receive probably mostly dead cuttings. Keeping in mind that the package arrived in Canada on Sunday, September 13.
I have never been this furious in my life. But I can promise one thing: I will NEVER accept Canada Post as a delivery option from outside this country again in my life for anything.
Thank you for allowing me to rant, I needed to share this with other unsuspecting people who may trust their own country's postal system to meet their expectations with respect to expresspost from another country.
