Yes, Hi Arejay. I always love the photos you guys use for the top thread slot. So pretty. I just got another load of lumber so we can finish the greenhouse frame next week. Got to get a new door and window this year, the old ones are just too old to geep going. But hopefully will get finished this coming week, so it will be ready when the plants need it.

The two pots together are Puya and the first picture up there is my baby brug. In the first picture at the top right side is my little princess and her earring tree baby and on the left is my emerald Jade vine and right between the jade and princess tree is a pink metalic vine. Then the brug in the front of it all.

Happy Sunday! I hate to pop in and out, but I'm trying to finish up my psychology classwork before the deadline tonight. I'm having trouble focusing, though, because I keep thinking about getting my greenhouse ready for fall/winter, what might be sprouting seeds in the yard, running over to the place I snagged those hib seeds from yesterday and taking a picture of the plant so I have it for ID purposes, and doing basically anything else BUT writing an essay about Freud and dream analysis. LOL

LOL -- Mekos ... I left off that distraction as well ... the race. What's worse for me is that my guy is leading again now! (Jimmie Johnson). Hmm, now here's an idea. If JJ wins his 4th championship in a row this year, I might have to have a celebratory 48-themed garden bed with blue & yellow flowers.

Football off and on. LOL I've seen some pics of the echiniceas Flower. Haven't seen the seed. They're pretty cool.

Huge selection for blue and yellow flowers jlj. That'll be a pretty bed. If he loses you can do just plain blue. :)

Flower, I'll look through my seeds but not sure. Let you know tomorrow. I'm going to pack you another box next week anyway. Got a few things I want to send you. Seems like there may have been a pack of echiniceas of something but don't remember what color or anything about it. Got it in a trade, but never paid much attention to it. I'll drag out the basket and look in the morning and d-mail you if I do have it, with the color name.

Yes Seray, I needed more room this year and shelves for all the seedlings pots and hanging pots. I have 3 like- bakers rack kind of shelves-and need a table going all the way down one side for some pots, then the tall ones will go on the ground on the other side. I want it better organized this time. I have 2 small ponds full of water plants that are tropical to go in as well. Then in the spring I want to start seedling trays of tomatoes and peppers and such for the garden along with cuttings of plants for sale or trade so need space. I want to be ready, this year I got a late start collecting stuff.

You're way ahead of me. I'm organizing all the stuff that needs to come in and trying to root cuttings on the vines just in case. Trying to do some air layering before I trim everything back. I have the table to work on but not enough shelves. I have the benches but not the lights. (sigh) :)

I wish I had that much liberty with the assignment; unfortunately, the "dream" is supplied to me to analyze. I'm just a little miffed because I had several questions about this week's assignment, and emailed my instructor Thursday morning, then again today. I still haven't had an answer from him. It's an online class, and his syllabus claims that he answers all emails within 12 hours.

Maybe I should turn in my dream analysis to read, "Were you dreaming when you said you reply to emails within 12 hours?" LOL

hi all watching football just thought i would check in

hey jlj, i had a subdivision where the contractors trailer was moving, i was working for a plumbing company and knew the contractors well, i asked if i could have the plants, i filled my company truck the size of a med. uhaul, with alll types and that is howi started my garden, i had over 100 plants stuffed in there, was kinda hard to work around that. lol

I have yellow cannas already ... but don't have anything blue that I know of. I have a large, slightly-sloped, mulched hill in front of my house.

How "red" would I be if I just plant a carpet of yellow flowers with blue flowers making the "48" among them for all my neighbors to see? My husband would probably file for divorce (he's a Mark Martin fan). LOL

Yellow and blue would be a pretty color-themed garden though. I'll have to really give this some thought, either way.

Whatever it is, if I put it in the front yard, it will need to be a shade flower/plant. That area is on the north side of my house, and with all the trees (12 on a 1/4 acre), it doesn't get but maybe 25% sunlight down there.

Easy as cake girl. You would do good and they bloom until frost most of the time. Hey you might luck up and find plants if you go look at the lowes and home depot, k-mart or wal-mart for reduced plants. I have even seen pansy blooms with snow on the ground around here. And they come in so many neat colors. You could get blue blooms with yellow eyes.

Anyone know how long pansies take to germinate and grow? Would it be feasible to do it this fall still? I know pansies last here (zone 8a) well into the late fall/early winter.

I don't know that I want to buy plants because it might be really hard to get like colors for a uniform look.

HI Everyone. Lovely mascot Belle spoil him every chance you get for us.
I would show you all my babies but the darn mutts won't be still long enough to take their picture. Today they decided I needed help digging up the shade bed. I was doing fine all by myself when all of a sudden I felt dirt hitting me full blast from two active little diggers off to the side of me. I like one more corner having everything dug up so I can change the plants in there.
Robin I'm not doing the Goth you know I don't like black plants though one of my friends wants me to plant black columbines just so she can see if she likes them or not. I told her to plant them herself.

Hey guys.. How is e1? Great I hope. Well I got a lot accomplished outside today. I finally mulched my crepe myrtles, the new ones anyway and the Magnolia tree. I dug all the new Red Spider Lilies and replanted them in the Goth Garden. I had enough to go all the way around the tree twice. I also planted the Red,Black & Blue Petunias in the Goth Garden as well as the Blue Salvia (both from Mekos) I cannot even believe how wonderful the soil is already in that lasagna bed! I am so amazed. That's what prompted me to go ahead and plant the live plants in there. I will get a pic for you guys tomorrow. I have become a stickler on marking everything I plant because I have so many different things, I know by spring I will forget what's where and who I got them from. Then I broke the handle on my stupid wheelbarrow and then when trying to dig maiden grass, broke my darn shovel. LOL.. thats okay cause I still kicked butt.. I mowed the entire lawn.. took like 3 hours. My intent was to do just a little area and rake it up for the lasagna bed, but got started and couldn't quit. My DH had made a nice dinner when I came in.. Linguine with shrimp and mixed veggies with alfredo sauce. We do things backwards sometimes, lol.. Ok, done writing my book now, GN e1 CU in the AM!

I will Lolly. I think you need something to pop out that black or purple foliage. Otherwise you won't see it as well. I have a lot of dark foliage and it doesn't always stand out unless it's accented in some way. I have three chocolate mimosas in this bed and unless you look you can't really see them. Once everything got big they had a nice background of green to pop them out. Silver or red would have been better.

Yep, I didn't get it either! LOL! Tubby, is it cold at your house this morning? We are hovering at about 25 degrees, and have been for about 2 hours at least. That's when I got up and checked, and it's not warming up any yet. But the sun's not out yet either. Bummer, I didn't bring any plants in last night. Hope they didn't freeze too bad!

Morning, Flower! A snowball bush is actually a viburnum, and blooms in the spring. Hydrangeas bloom in later summer, August , Sept. That's about all I know about the differences! LOL! I'm sure someone else can give you more info, tho.

A snowball can make a tree also, it grows tall, but the hydrangeas only make a bush that spreads out wider. There is a big difference when it gets big enough to bloom and you look at them.

Funny Tubby! Needed coffee. lol Your hosta seed pods are in the mail.

Flower I tried to take cuttings from the mimosa to pass them around. Big failure!!! lol I grew an incredible amount of mildew.

Gus will be happy to get home Mekos. I'll keep my eye open for him here. :)

In the Gothic gardens I read about , there was also listed a Moonlight garden. It was pretty too.
Could put them side by side or within close enough distance to Show off the differences of each garden.
Also added gazing balls and Gargoyles.

Flower, if you are looking at the difference in the bush it self- the leaves should be different. You should be able to look at the leaf and see the difference. Can you take a picture of the leaf or plants?

Did you guys go look at the brug blooming on the brug forum- thread from greenthumbtn? Man that is pretty.
It so windy here right now, it blew down my red castor bean bush/tree. I went ahead and pulled it out of the bed. I'll get the seed pods off it, but like the dark purple/black one better anyway. Don't know why it blew down one and not the other ones.
I gathered some more seeds today since the sun is out and drying some more of them.

Mornin' everyone!

Back to the rat race I call work - lol. Mekos - glad to hear the babies are doing better.

I had a busy busy weekend with church and football and basketball and laundry and this new business my DH and I are working on and wishing for cooler weather . . .

It's supposed to be near 108 today - argh! I'm soooooo over this heat! It's kinda scaring me that all my peeps are getting their gardens ready to shut down for winter and us here in the blasted furnace called the Southwest are barely thinking about planting and enjoying our gardens through the winter . . .

My lavender noids are blooming. They re-seed and come back each year and bloom from now till it freezes. There is even a butterfly on one. My azaleas are blooming again for the second time.

wow seray your garden pic is beautiful... I can grow plants but making groupings that look great together is just not my thing YET...I keep looking and now that I have more seeds, ill have more plants to work with ...maybe that will help lol

I had read a review in a gardening magazine about this book so I found it on eBay. It's called Perennial Combinations by C Colston Burrell. It retailed for 29.95, I paid 3.00 for it. It is a wonderful aid in helping put plants combos together. I need all the help I can get in that department!

Bargain LollyJean!!! I'll have to look to see if I can find a copy. I bought "Shocking Beauty" by Thomas Hobbs. Beautiful. Lots of combos in there. Only a bargain because I love it. :)

mekos - I think flower is right on the ID on your plant. My mom has one and the name flower gave rings a bell.

On the new business - we're representatives for a company that sells telecommunications services. Something we decided to do on the side. I really like it so far!! You own your own business and work at your own pace selling services we all use every day like wireless, internet, phone service, home security, satellite TV, etc. It was a small initial investment which in this economy is a good thing - lol.

I don't think we are allowed to promote our businesses and such on the forums per Dave's policy, but I'd be happy to send the link to my website to anyone who wants to check it out. Just send me a d-mail!

I figured if I added anything else to my already full plate, it had to be something that wouldn't take away any more gardening time. Now that fall is approaching I can really get into high gear and sow all the wonderful seeds I've received from all you peeps! I want a show-stopper yard for spring, at least in my dreams - lol. I figure I'll plant plant plant and then deal with moving stuff later on if I have to!

Tubby - let me know if you're ready for the "Blackie" cuttings and I'll root some to mail out to you on Monday. I'll send some rooted and unrooted since they root pretty easily in plain 'ol water. Let 'em get a few roots (takes just a few days) then pot them up. Easy as pie...

mekos - the black pansy did indeed sprout.. one has tiny black flowers, the other.. well.. not so black..ROTFL.. can you say 'Hot Pink'??? must be a hybrid and its sprouting int he likeness of one of the parents. I kept it in the goth bed... one tiny pink flower in all that darkness..ROTFL

Great Cue, they may have got a different seed in by mistake when packaging. Glad they sprouted and can't believe they are blooming already. Wow. Did your african poinsettia do ok? Mine is turning red on top. Was until it rained so much but I'm sure with the sun shining again, it will continue to turn. It's getting pretty. I couldn't believe the wind took out my red castor bean today. Took it up by the roots. I decided not to replant since it is so big and probably wouldn't stay planted. And my hybiscus seedlings are doing great. They are growing by leaps and bounds. How is your black dragon doing? Did it do ok? You are going to have to take pictures, Cue.

OH, an African poinsettia IS a poinsettia. It's also common name is african milk bush, but is african poinsettia. Here is a picture, but not good because it is dark and had to shine a light so the colors are not good.
I also have the summer poinsettias in several colors like the dark burgandy, and yellow /red stripe and yellow , then I have one called a wild yard poinsettia. Green and red with yellow dots in the top with the seeds. Real cute.

Maybe Gilda is on the way?!?!? She's in for spectacular weather if it is her. Forecast is for upper 80s on Thursday. Hope she has her bikini! It's been over 100 for weeks - we need a break from this 'ol weather. I feel a sick day coming on - ROTFLOL! Maybe I'll play hookey and work on the garden all day!

sk - October in Phoenix is a bit chilly at night, at least for us desert dwellers. You might think it's summertime!

seray - I have the Jungle Beauty in a pot and it's growing by leaps and bounds! Needs to cool down so I can plant 'er in the ground. Got some daylily seeds from LaLambchop and skimper, so gonna try my hand at growing them from seed so the Jungle Beauty will have some friends!

mekos - one of the three Sapphire Showers took and it's growing. When I send it I'll send some unrooted cuttings for you as well. Now that it's maybe cooling down it should start looking good again - like this . . .

That must have been why it came up this way, my mail lady said sometimes the mail people put stuff on the wrong way trucks sometimes and it has to travel around a while before it can get turned around. I bet that is what happened. I wish I had caught it.

It must be that 108 degree temp Loca! It could not have been a more beautiful day today. I just came in and worked outside ALL day. I have homework, have to go to school tomorrow and I hurt, lol.. Trimmed my Stallion and moved my roundpen to a better spot, whew I am so pooped.. But I can't wait to get up and do it all over again tomorrow ;-) Am I crazy for thinking I would rather stay home and work in my yard than go to Paul Mitchell Hair School?? I must be, right?

Well, no lost packages better show up in this cold land! I'll have to keep it, at least until May when it warms up enough to ship out. Too cold to ship much now. Yeah, Mechelle - it's the heat - that's it - lol!!

Thanks Lolly! I like it a lot. If I get more cuttings to root I'll send you some. You may not want it until spring since it would have to come in in your zone. It really should be in the ground but I have it in a big 'ol pot and it's huge!

I think we'll keep it in AZ. Winters are enjoyable here. Come summer though it will be ready to head for Maine, believe me!

NO STARBUCKS?!?! OMG - how do you survive? Sometimes Costco has a drink mix, they have mocha and java chip, Big Train brand I think - we make frappacuinos with it and it's better than Starbucks, and a whole lot cheaper . . .

Went by one of our other offices yesterday (that frequently changes out landscaping, as I mentioned in the last thread), and low and behold, the landscapers were there, replacing beautiful yellow hibiscus with mums and pansies. So I scored 7 new yellow hibs yesterday for free!

They're a little weak/wilted from being displaced for a few hours, but I got them home and planted and watered as quickly as I could to help save them. If they make it okay, perhaps I should use these to frame a bed of blue flowers for my Jimmie Johnson bed, LOL.

Yeah I know tubby , that's why I am not doing it anymore either. Had to have surgery done on one shoulder 2 times because of it and the last time it was done Dr said if it happened again there was no fixing it, so I just got out of it. Miss it in a way but I still cut the family and friends hair on occassion. Thats not like standing there with the ole arms up all day cutting and perming and all that good stuff .

Morning e1! Well, the dear weatherman is forecasting snow for tonight and tomorrow night. Who wants it? I'm sure somebody here said they wanted some, and I sure dont! LOL! Guess that means that the flowers are done for the year, if he's right! We had a hard freeze night before last, and that did most of them in anyway. Gotta find room for all the potted stuff inside now. Sure wish I had a greenhouse! LOL

Goodmorning everyone...It actually got down to 50 here night , usually we dont see cool weather till end of October..Hope that doesnt mean we are in for a cold winter...LOL It seldom gets below freezing, so to me thats cold...Its actually only snowed here a couple of times that I can remember in my 45 years..It is something I would like to experience, but dont think I would look forward to having to shovel it out of the drive... Rather chilly here this morning too. Only suppose to get up to 66 today. Dug out my sweat pants, will probably get hot cause got to go out and plant some Mums and a few other things too.

hey, any of you that have a pond be sure and save some seed if you can. I'll have mine this next spring and would really like to have some lotus and water lilies seed. I would appreciate it. There are some on ebay but they would come from Thailand and they want 7.00 shipping on them and the seed is only .99 cents, go figure?

I'm here, just checking in for a few then going to relax. I had to go shopping after work today, which I detest (shopping, that is; I'd rather work! LOL). But I needed some new pants for work, and found some good deals at TJ Maxx.

What I really want to do is go become one with my armchair and ottoman and the remote control. I'm wiped out. Having been home from work for two weeks with pneumonia, this is my first week back, and I'm exhausted; don't want to overdo it.

Good morning everyone. Boy that package is going to smell strong by the time it gets to Maine. Good thing it was opened on the way to air it out.
Never did get my shady bed finished up. Too chilly for me to stay outside long yesterday but today is supposed to be warmer so just maybe.
I spent yesterday morning making turkey jerky for DH and the dogs got to eat the test pieces when they weren't done enough. OH BOY now the littlest one doesn't want to eat anything else. I'll have to see if I can get pictures of them so you can see how cute they are. Their mom isn't a problem to snap she just sits around most of the time but her two boys are running nuts.

Well it wasn't stinky cheese arejay but it sure did smell.
Boy you all have more get up and go than I do. I planted 4 Mums ,transplanted about a dozen hostas and 2 little blue mist spirea bushes

I have a couple small starts of unknown hostas if anyone would like to have them. There are maybe 4 or 5 of them. They are all different or at least the leaves are different LOL. All of my tags have gotten lost so I don't know which is which now,

Robin that wasn't the package that's been traveling around the country. This one has a smell to it so if it comes to your house grab it and open it up. You'll see what I mean by a smell. It's not a bad smell though DH swore it was stinky to him.

Good morning everyone...Nice cool beautiful day here today...I hauled grass clippings from all over the county for LG beds yesterday...Brought my DH home about 100 naked ladies (bulbs that is) red spider surprise lilies...I planted them around the light pole in LG... My DH and DD were laughing said now they can watch naked ladies do a pole dance...See what a good wife and daughter I am...WOW I couldnt believe how many bulbs those things make...I dug one bunch must of been 40- 50 bulbs in one lil bunch...Wish I could run up on some yellow ones...

Im off today in search of a brown layer...Still have a few leaves left from last year in a pile...

Then have more bulbs to plant... I may go back and get more surprise lily bulbs..scatter a few over the yard.. tho I dont know how I will keep hubby from mowing them down..

Now Robin why in the world would you think we are in cahoots with KT1 who hasn't even said a word about a package that I can remember. Let me think...KT1 is Cue, KT2 is Loca and KT3 is missing until she catches up on her garden stuff among other things. Only one I seen post anything about a package was Loca, Mekos, Seray, Flower and Mindy and I can't imagine a package going to all those states in just a few days. No, I haven't seen the stinky package just heard what was in it and when I told DH that's what he said...stinky. Of course my memory isn't the best when my mind's crammed full of things I need to get done before it gets much colder so you might not want to take my word for it.
Besides I haven't mailed your package to you yet. It's still on the porch waiting to be taped up and took to the PO.

Someone here is not telling the whole truth!! I just got a package. OMG was I surprised!! It is French yes let me tell you again...French Lavender...It is beautiful beautiful and smells heavenly. I love it , love it...Margaret you are so very thoughtful... I don't know how you knew I was not feeling well and this made me feel better immediately of course...
Unless maybe I told you or someone and they told or maybe like KT2 says I am confused maybe...maybe not though.

Well you have long feelings Mindy and I do appreciate your thoughtfulness. THe name of my Lavender is Lavandula Dentata Linda Ligon. It is like none that I have and Lavender I have a few as I love them so much. Mindy it has a bud and it traveled very well. The leaves are different than any of mine. They are like scalloped I guess you would call them. Here is a picture ignore everything you see but the lavender the pictures of the dust are just extra...ok?

A few days ago (Saturday, I think), I started twenty hib seeds (four different varieties), and to date, 8 have germinated using the paper towel/baggy on the cable box method. I just put the ones that germ'd in small seedling trays to see how they do. I'm so excited! :-)

I started 5 each of Hibiscus Coccineus (3 germ'd); Luna Red (2 germ'd); and two other hardy varieties -- pink and white -- of which 3 germ'd. I don't think I nicked the others right, so I re-nicked them again and reset them on the cable box to see if they'll germ as well. But I'm happy that I got 8 to go already.

(I'm a newbie at this, can't you tell? LOL).

Hi Tubby, I'm not sure if I have any indian grass seed left, I might have given it to arejay for the newbies, but I did give a bunch of ornamental grass seed of some kind to my DS, so let me check and see if she has any left and what kind it is first. OK?
Whew, what a day! Winter storm warning in effect for us until Thursday night. Bother!! I don't have time for winter storms now. It can just wait! Until November, maybe. LOL

Now I told you to just send those snow storms my way. I love snow. It is getting down to 49 here tonight. It's in the upper 70's and 80's in the daytime but 50's at night and tonight 49 so it's nice. I can enjoy it. Just color me happy again.

Good morning. Well, Mekos, a little white stuff coming your way today. Not sure I would call it a winter storm, but we do have white stuff on the ground, barely. But the wind is blowing and it is still falling from the sky, so we will see how much it piles up today.

Thank you so much skellogg...My son has a big test first block at school so now I have to wait till 9 to leave..He wanted to get his assignments for the next few days so he wouldnt get behind...What a fine responsible young man he is...He is taking 2 college courses this year (10th grade) through a program at school.. If he passes these courses he gets paid a 100.00 incentive from the school.. SO he is working hard for the money...My other son lol he hates school...rather be out driving a tractor...sigh..He is a survivor he doesnt care what he has to do to make money he is 13 worked all summer for who ever would ever would hire him ..lol He hasnt spent a red cent of his money either ...Rather spend mine...I like to see him not squander his money away tho...The educated one(ha thats what he calls himself) really doesnt like to work .. lol funny how different my children are...

Flower, I really don't think that with all your garden work all you do is sit! LOLBest of luck with your new job, and I hope you like it. Life is too short to work at something you don't enjoy, even if it is part time. ;-)
Huney, sounds like those 2 boys will even date entirely different kinds of girls. LOL Our twin grandsons are going to be so different also. You have done a great job with them, as they save money, and work hard, and have smarts. You should be proud!! Nice job!
Lolly, I sure hope you enjoy your first hosta! I don't have any either, but am starting some from seeds that Seray so generously gave me. How exciting!! I wonder, can I start some of them now? Do they need to be cold stratified first? Any advice people?

Skellogg- U are funny girl- a haircut like a bat flower! But ya know, it can be done. I have a picture of a purple one Seray sent me and made it my desktop pic and I could so do that! The haircut I designed I named "Cleopatra" didn't cut it yet, but don't be surprised if I post a pic of an ugly mannequin head named Debra that looks like a bat flower!

Flower! Thats funny that you are a cosmetologist too! 1500 hrs here also, I am at about 500.. But PM is pretty advanced. I have a lot of clients already if you can believe it. I haven't done a perm on a live person yet, but can rock it out on my mannequin. Perms just kind of aren't in style right now, you know how things change so much. But we do a lot of shampoo sets, relaxers, cuts & coloring. Being near Memphis & all, we have a pretty diverse group of clients. I like being to able to do a service on anyone that walks in. I do a lot of block coloring and co-lites which are cool and creative. I have even done purple under my daughters hair and it looked awesome! I will show you a pic. I like saving money buying product and being able to do my girls' hair at my cost. I had to pay that bill a time or two and uh-uh, not doing that anymore. So if you ever need any Paul Mitchell stuff, I get everything 50% off.. Lots of great products out right now. And the styling tools are really awesome too.

Miss Seray- I haven't forgotten about you my dear friend! Did you want some of my Hosta for your shade bed? I just found another cultivar today. It looks like Patriot but it has yellow swirls instead. Maybe you know what it is? I will be able to send out Monday. Just tell me what you'd like. I have some nice Surprise Lily Bulbs for you.

I still have a jillion Red Spider Lilies if anyone wants them.. just dmail me and send me a SASBE. I have at least 100 of them ready to go. Lolly, glad you got yours and if you want more, you know what to do! LOL

I got a variegated Rose of Sharon today! It has unusual shaped flowers but they are a burgundy color. Can't wait to see how it will do.. I also got a "Plum Crazy" Hibiscus too! I am gonna baby that plant to death! Purple is my favorite color and i love hibbies , so can't wait to see it. I think I am getting my greenhouse this weekend, I had one here on my property and didn't know it! Just have to move it. Need to get my veggies started soon . I will send pics..

GM, thanks guys.. Courtney gives me the chills when she sings. She sang at her school yesterday with a boy our family knows.. He's kind of her "love interest" so you can imagine she was on cloud nine, texting me all day about it, lol. The boys are swarmimg let me tell ya.. Gotta get out my fly swatter, lol.. We are in the Country Music state so there would be no excuse for her not to make it someday with her talent. She taught herself to play the guitar when she was only 13. My husband plays too, so she picked up a lot from him. She just goes online and gets the chords and lyrics and can play any song. She was offered at her first public performance a chance to record a demo for free at a local studio. Ya never know, huh guys? : )
I got 2 beautiful Belladonna Lily bulbs yesterday.. planted them in one of my lasagna beds. They must weigh a pound or more. Will share when I get babies..
I got woke up this morning by my other daughter Heather telling me 2 of my horses were out. Just walking around eating grass.. My fault, didn't lock the gate after cleaning their paddock yesterday.. Horsey nature, lol

Lovely daughter Mechelle.
I am looking for some plants and some suggestions.
The plants: Moses in Basket that bloom white and the red. (yes Mekos I still have the one you sent me these are for a friend of my sister who's trading me plants) and a devil's claw cactus.

Suggestions for my shady bed. How long do colubines bloom? And I need suggestions for filling the middle sides of the bed (not the main middle of the bed it has a large rock there that can;'t be moved so I'm planting around it. So far, I have hostas in one corner, want to plant columbines in another corner but if they don't bloom long may put those in a middle spot, have a pink bleeding heart for one corner, and white daffodils, virgine blue bells, and 3 crocus bulbs for one area maybe a middle spot since I'm just putting a few back of each. I would love astible in one corner but don't have those yet. Any other suggestions for the other 3 sides?

Thanks for the compliment Mindy. I have Columbines but haven't had them long enough to really know much yet. I know I got a ton of seeds, but they haven't rebloomed. Mine only grow about 1-2 ft tall and are kinda boring when they don't have flowers. For your shade garden, maybe some flowering succulents around the rock, like Ice Plant or Baby Sunrose. Or some Showy Stonecrop.. they get a little taller..

Kind of a slow day for me too. Grandaughter Olivia's 2nd year birthday party today, What a rip! Wish I had that much energy.

Now getting my garden packed up for the winter, cleaning out the old vines and mulching over. Getting lots of fall bulbs planted for spring flowers.

Our leaves are about half turned, will be brighter in about a week or so.
Hope to do a flyover soon when the weather is good.

Aren't the little ones something LOL I don't have any but have lots and lots of nieces and nephews I used to babysit. Seemed like soon as they learnt how to talk they never shut up.
Our leaves are just getting started here. The spring trees are dropping leaves but the main show is just getting started. I'm lucky enough to live in the middle of woods and can see hills all around me so I get a beautiful show to watch.
Like you I've been getting the gardens ready for winter and doing cleanup. Still like a little more work but most of it is done.
Were you the one who was looking for spring flowering bulbs?

How I wish I still lived somewhere that actually has 4 seasons - lol. I sooooo miss the leaves turning colors in the fall.

Been tied up most of the day with football and a birthday party and a couple of business meetings - lol. I thought weekends were for relaxing and having fun playing in the dirt . . .

I am still looking for a few more bulbs, daffs, tulips, crocus, etc.

I'm digging out a huge growth of orange lilies. The fans are so thick that I'm chopping them out with a shovel. We call then "Road Lilies" because they are so common around here. They are a nice orange color though, similar to "Desert Song" in the Plantfiles, should be easy to grow most anywhere. If anybody is interested I could send a huge box for the price of postage, or swap for something (anything).

Hi everyone. I been out all day spreading mulch and I'm putting mulch everywhere if it needs it or not. I got half the huge pile moved but so much more to go. I'm mulching everything in sight. Working around the ponds right now, moving rocks and spreading mulch. Man this is work. But it looks so much better and I'm sure it will help the roots of the plants. I've got bunches of bulbs to plant and got to figure where will be the best places. Well, off here tonight. I'm wore slap out and bet I'll be sore tomorrow.

Some of my marigolds have taken on a second bloom with this late spell of wet cool weather. We haven't been frosted yet, but weather has been weird lately. Still nice to have blooms in October, unusual for us.

Hey you guys, I'm so sore I can barely move. I hurt in places I never knew existed. But my husband and me spread 6 more wheelbarrows full of mulch today. I have about 20 more feet of the lasagna bed to put cardboard down on and will have it about ready. If it does not rain tomorrow, I'll hopefully get it finished. I moved my rocks around both ponds and mulched to the edge of them and put the rocks back and it looks much better. I still have a little more to do on the greenhouse and it will be done and ready to cover with plastic. Need to hang the door and window. Going to lay down and rest till morning and try to finish this up tomorrow. Hopefully I will still be able to move tomorrow. Good night all.

HI Everyone

Hope you had a great weekend! Sounds like lots of work going on getting ready for fall. I'm digging up tropicals and prepping for winter. I planted Tuscan Kale and it's pretty cool looking. Kaelkitty told us about it on a forum this spring. When it gets giant size I'll send a pic. :) Anyone tried it?

I found a black plastic Tub (Halloween special). I'm going to put pitcher plants in it this spring. Found a good source on ebay. Goth. LOL

Mindy how are those grapes. Did you get them delivered to your house?

Skellogg, Holly and Trish packages go out tomorrow.

Flower what mil is the plastic you found? That's what makes the difference in your heating costs.

I like to wet a paper towel..lay out flat cover half with some seed... Not to many that you can't pic the good ones up..Fold the towel so it fits in baggie...I put on top of frig..Check in about 3 or 4 days..you'll see the little sprout..May take longer..You will know for sure which are good seed. This works so good for Hibiscus. I can't beleive it wouldn't work for any seed that size or close..

What Tubby said... I've started mine that way and in my Aerogarden as well. If the seed is good it will sprout. Some say to soak overnight but not sure if that is necessary...

well, I dont need help sprouting them, ive got a few that are about 18 inches tall with buds all over them. my question was...

was i supposed to have pinched them back to branch? they seem awfully tall with only the leader . they arent leggy or sparse, but awfully top heavy. Ive had to stake two of them for support. was wondering if they will eventually branch on their own. they were 'Dragon heart' seeds given to me by mekos...

Good morning all... Home safe and sound from our journey..Things went well considering death took us away from home unexpectedly...It rained all day yesterday about 4 inches total...Rain forcasted for next 3 days, sure hope we miss that..Have plenty of work to get done, need the sun to shine for a while the garden is knee deep in mud...Havent gotten the greens planted yet every time it gets close to being dry enough to work out there, it rains all over again...Hope it doesnt drown my irises...

Hope all is well with you all, I see flooding has happened in several states...Stay safe and dry..

Seray finally got the grapes today they held them until they got their paperwork in order GRRR but came home from shopping with friend and mailman was here. Grapes are in wonderful shape still very damp and not a sign of wilting and DH is happy and already planning where to put them.

GM all, it's been chilly here the last couple of days, too. I think I better bring my hanging plants in today.. Still have tons of Red Spider Lilies for sasbe if anyone else is interested. I also found these cute little bulbs, have no idea what they are. They could possibly be daffodils, not sure. I will post a pic later to see if anyone recognizes them. Seems like every time I dig I find huge clusters of bulbs I didnt expect. Fun, huh? Hope you all have a good day.

Hi everyone, Checking in today. I never turned the computer on for a couple days. Was feeling better today. It rained for the past 2 days and more tomorrow and Friday.
Flower, I use 6 mil thickness and 25x100 roll. It's about that same price but you don't want to have to lap it because it will let in cold air if it isn't in one piece. We have a couple hardware places around here that carries it. The only thing you have to replace it every year. You can buy regular greenhouse plastic at some supplies places that is more expensive but lasts for 7-10 years. So it depends on which you want to do. Then just hang down some heat lamps with grow lights or regular light bulbs for the heat. (I have a 12x14 size and use 5 heat lamps with regular 60 watt bulbs - let them hang down low to the ground maybe 2 foot off the ground because heat rises and you need heat low for the ones sitting on the ground or low shelves.) I put a screen door covered with plastic and a window in there to allow some heat to escape if it gets too hot in the daytime, then close them in evening to hold in heat. Have something for back up heat just in case the power goes off, like keroseen heater or keroseen lamps or anything to help if power failure happens. Hope this helps.

Yes Thanks mekos. The one that I have been looking at is 12x100 6mil and has a 4 year warranty on it so I figure I would be good to go. My Gh is 12x7 but if measured it is 11x 6 so I won't have to be over lapping anything thank goodness. I am seriously thinking about doubling it up though. I have 2 heat lamps in there and am going to get a small heater of some sort to put in just in case. Have 2 grow lights too so I am set except for getting the plastic now and a heater.

That is great Flower. You are good to go. It's looking like winter might come early this year here. This is my kind of weather but I wasn't expecting it for a while later. It doesn't usually get this cool until Nov. or later. It's been in the 70's all week and raining again. Looks like we might need the greenhouses sooner this year.

Kel, too funny, down to 80's! That cracks me up! We are struggling to get up to 50. Nights down to 20-25. Good thing I'm planning on visiting there, and not you coming up here! You would freeze here! But the colors are really starting to turn with these cold evenings.

Still have a couple of inches of snow. I'll try to post a pic for you Mekos!

Tubby, had to go to work in a town about 30 miles away over the weekend, and just happened to see a business with 3 different kinds of ornamental grass. So of course, we stopped and raided a few seeds. Want some? Don't know what kinds they are, but all 3 were different and very pretty, about 5 feet tall.

Hey Mechelle, I'm better, just awful sore muscles. My elephant ears start out all black then as it got older, it got some green in it. I can go find the name but it's different than the one you mentioned. I'll find the name and let you know. I also have some Polly-african mask looking things and some other ones also. I can never remember names.

I traveled through and visited some of the springs when I was younger. I think it was around Little Rock. I've looked at property on one of the lakes there. Pretty pretty. I thought you were 8b like southern GA. Mountains sound nice!

Arejay, Here is my EE bloom. It's open on the side of it. I'll try for a better picture tomorrow. We actually got some sunshine today after it rained all night last night. It made it all the way to 78 today. We spread several more piles of mulch today all around my trees and bushes. The guys came and brought me another load of chippings today. This stuff is so full of green leaves and pine needles, I can't believe it is so good and free. They said they would be working in this area for another 2 weeks at least so would have more loads to come if we wanted them. We said we did so gonna have plenty this year. That mulch is HOT in there when we moved it. It was down in the 40's last night and it rained all night and it was probably 90 degrees, or more, in the mulch pile. It really held in the heat. Well, hope everyone had a good day today and got the to get out some. Sure was nice here.

I played in the dirt aaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllll day long and yes - the fall veggies are planted and I'm soooooooo glad! Now to keep them watered until they sprout - lol. It's still gonna be in the 80s here, but not too bad.

Winter? Did someone say winter? Uh, I really don't know what that is - lol. We really don't get frost or a true freeze though I've seen some nights borderline. A couple years ago we had a bad freeze two nights in a row. Lots of folks lost lots of plants that year. My bougainvillas and my snail vine I thought were goners, but they came back. I lost a coupleof roses which was OK - my MIL planted them years ago in a bad spot and I hated them, so no loss there - lol.

We get the coldest temps in January early on, sometimes the end of December. Most things make it through with minor protection - I'll throw sheets on some things or bring pots inside, but usually nothing too major. Veggies I can cover if need be. Last winter we had a few cool nights and my friend put candles in her little cold frames to keep the veggies warm. She didn't think the plastic would be enough - lol. It worked!

Wow. Well, if you can grow stuff all year round I guess that would be good but don't think I would trade my snow for that. I like it too much. And the heat is just too much for the summer for me. I still say it's easier to add clothes to stay warm but you can only take so much off to cool down and it's just not enough for me. I breathe better when it's cooler. Never smoked a day in my life but you'd think I did with my breathing problems in the heat.

I may have an extra one I can spare. This is the first one I have seen bloom. I'm sending several packages out this week so probably will be next week before I can do more on plants going out. I really need to finish up my greenhouse and finish spreading the mulch and not a lot of time to do all this, before it cools too much. You might need to remind me next week.


I'm going to turn in tonight. I am tired. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I got more to do on spreading mulch and some packages going out and want to finish the greenhouse, if I can this weekend. Good Rainy Morning to all LOL. Raining here again today and suppose to rain for the next couple of days. They have even put flood watches out before it even started raining LOL.
I was wondering if any one of you would know if I bought a clove of garlic and planted it ,would it grow? I have been looking for some to get started and the price is outrageous on them, so I thought if I could do it this way I would have some.

Flower, Yes you can do that with garlic and shallots as well. Just make sure the garlic has some green tips showing. (clandestinely peel some of the white "paper" back if you don't see any) A lot of times when the garlic starts to sprout stores put it in the mark-down area. I've taken every one when I see them and just divide the sections & stick them in the garden or a planter if its winter.

flower - I buy all my garlic to plant at the Farmer's Market - divide up into individual cloves and plant. That way I know it hasn't been treated with any type of sprout inhibitor. Plus, it's locally grown so I know it will grow here - lol.

mekos - the desert is actually good for your breathing problems - lol. Seriously - back in the day people from back east used to move to this area to help with their breathing issues. The humidity combined with the heat is what makes it hard to breathe. We have very very low, well almost non-existant, humidity most of the year. But you're right that you can only get so, uh, undressed, to deal with the heat!

I like the snow, too - just not the cold that comes along with it... If you ever want to visit, you just let me know. We could do lots of work in my yard as you already know!

Yes Flower - This is a great time to plant garlic in the Northern states. There is a difference in the many varieties though. "Hardnecks" grow better in the North, "Softnecks" grow better in the South. You will often see softnecks more as grocery store stock, so be careful what you get. October is the best time to plant the hardnecks for us northerners, the same as other Fall bulbs like tulips and daffs.

Try to find a "real" garlic grower in your area. Lacking that, check with a local farm stand or community market that sells homegrown stuff. Often these folks will gladly share all the information you'll need to get started. There are also some very interesting articles in DG's information forums on garlic growing, especially those written by Darius Van d'Rhys.

Hey guys- had to share this- This little puppy wandered onto my property today. I kept yelling at him to "git" from a distance. When he got up close I felt so horrible. Yes, I did the no-no.. I fed him. He's in pretty bad shape- ticks in his ears, sore paws, and I would say SPCA would call him emaciated. You can see every rib. He has a collar on- must belong to someone. He would barely let me come near him let alone touch him. He cowers when you reach your hand out to him. He started just wagging his tail after a few minutes of eating. My hubby is gonna kill me, but I could not just walk away knowing I could help him. I can't keep him, we already have 4 dogs but I at least gave him a meal. If he sticks around, I will doctor him up and find him a home.

Mechelle - good on you for giving that poor doggy a bite to eat! He sure is cute. I'm sure you can find a good home for him!

With the economy the way it is, chances are someone dumped him off, especially if you're in a rural area. People like that p!#% me off to no end... I've never seen so many "strays" around as I have the past few months. Makes me sick.

Yeah well if you think thats badLoca, about a month before I moved out here, a lady came to my door at 6am and said "Your horses are out by the street" I ran outside and someone had dumped 3 horses in front of my house. They were just hanging out in front of the fence like "let me in, those horses look healthy and happy" They were really emaciated. I went door to door for 3 hours thinking maybe they got out or something.. By noon when no one was looking for them to feed them or something, I called Animal Control. By then I was mad at how they were being taken care of and didn't think the owner needed to have them back. They went to a rescue facility. It was funny, the animal control guys couldn't get them in the trailer, but I got all 3 of them in on the first shot. In California it's way worse than out here- hay was $16 a bale when I left and rumored to be going up. I have a very soft heart when it comes to animals.

We get strays here as well. Since I live on a dead end road, people are always dropping off unwanted pets and they instantly come here. They sense warm hearts and good food. I was lucky enough to see one who dumped 5 puppies out one morning and knew who it was so I gave him 30 minutes to contact me to come get them or face a warrant, he didn't believe I would and he didn't so I did. He went to jail. Animal control got the puppies and they were all adopted as far as I know. I took dog food to the animal shelter to be able to check on them and saw when the last one was gone. That is one of my biggest pet peeves. The other is hudlems tossing their liquor bottles out and busting the bottles and beer bottles and cans tossed out on the road side out here. Now I take pictures of stupid idiots and turn them in.
What is wrong with putting a trash bag in your own car if you want to drink and toss the waste, and put in your own trash bag at home. Take puppies to the animal shelter in hopes of finding it a home and food until then. At least they would have a chance.
I guess I should shut up now.

Start getting tag numbers and report them and when they have to pay fines a time or two, they will quit doing it so much. I use to ignore stuff but when it's right here in front of my house it got to me and now, I'll report any I see.

I love animals a lot and even though I can't have too many in the city here, I hate to see them dumped off like that. Like mekos said, at least take them to a shelter so they have a chance. Better yet, don't get an animal unless you can commit to caring for it for it's entire lifetime. Depending on the animal, that could be a long time. We had a horse when I was a kid that lived to be almost 23.

hello everyone... Hope you had a great day ..I spent mine digging hosta for trades and rearranging some in the yard... Kids had Dr appointments for allergy shots and poison ivy... ughh will be glad when cold weather gets here and that stuff dies back some... My youngest gets it every time he walks with-in half a mile of it...

Rain is moving back in for tomorrow, my yard is still wet from 4 inches over the weekend and showers after that...

Going to make a LG in front of my porch as soon as I get all the gourds pulled down( hopefully tomorrow).. I want to make it a pink bed.. I already have a pink double delight coneflower and rosy return daylily and some pink lantana started by the steps...Now i have to decide what else to put in it...Open for suggestions lol and ideas of plant combinations that work well together...

My irises are looking good...all the rain has covered some of the rhizomes but im hoping since they are new maybe it will offer a lil protection this winter from the cold...Guess next spring I'll have to get out there and let those rhizomes see a lil sunshine again...

I hope so... I also have a miniature pink rose on the other side of my steps...gonna pull those gourds and lay my boxes tomorrow... A guy who does yards brought me a trailer full of grass clipping to use... Now i just have to get my brown to go down.. I found some top soil on sale for a dollar a bag(40 ponds) today and bought 1o bags put on top so I can have it ready to plant next spring...

Good Morning all !!!! Another rainy day here.:((((((((( It has rained here so much this year and nothing has done well. It has been good for the potted plants and all but the rest just drowned. My mums I just put out look terrible. In a good spot with good drainage but just so much water and the ground is having a hard time of getting rid of it.. I had walnuts just beating the heck out of the house last nite. the wind was blowing so hard with the storm coming in and I am hoping that it took the most of them off the limbs. Really sounds like a bombing going on when they hit. LOL

Oh Mindy we're not suppose to get any yet. Just way North of us LOL Not as far away for me as it is for you though. Oh good I'm not ready for snow just yet though I can remember the first little snows in October then by Thanksgiving getting the big ones.
Taking a break from cleaning the kitchen walls. I'm half done debating whether I have time to clean behind the refrigerator before Dh comes in for lunch. We are supposed to get rain today and if it does he'll be here getting in my way if I try to clean. There's always tomorrow LOL. The good news is all that digging with the shovel this summer means I don't feel sore from climbing up and down on the chair to get things off the top of things and to reach the top of the walls.

Got the bed in front covered with pine mulch today and put mulch around the new daylilies I planted a couple of days ago.. BTW I am offering on a couple forums trades of fans of my "Kwanso" daylilies if anyone is interested. They are common I hear so not asking for the moon & stars, lol .. Just dmail me ;-)

We had a bbq earlier and I am stufffffeeedd! My DH bought this beef brisket that was pre-cooked for he thought $6.29- Turns out it was $6.29 a pound, lol.. and he bought 2 ! No wonder the grocery bill was so high.. Silly man.. oh well he cooked, I didn't, so therefore it was worth it. Kinda like he took me out to dinner, lol

Good morning E1! Brrr, cold here! About 12 degrees! Sure will be nice going to AZ this week! Need a shot of warm weather! Needless to say, not getting much done outside here right now!
Tubby, will try to get those seeds out to you before we leave, will send grass seed and some tree seeds.
Kelly, I plan on bringing a trailer load of warm weather back with us. LOL

Morning Gang - We've got little GD Olivia this weekend, the kids are off on vacation. She's our 2 year old Hurricane from Heaven! I took her to the local pumpkin patch yesterday to pick out her favorite, of course I had to buy a few, not just one. But times like these are precious fun as you all know.

Hello all...I made a flower bed all down the side of the house hauled bricks, dirt, all components of lasagna garden...then I sat flowers in there pots over in there for now... Think I will wait till spring to plant it...If you guys have something in pink your willing to trade or share, I'd love to include them in my bed...Im considering planting ferns in the back then planting the front in flowers...I just love the way ferns blend with other flowers...Hubby likes a more manicured look... but he who does the work, gets to pick the flowers lol...about 55 here today with a cold mist falling...Probably a good thing... If I do much more work today I prob wont be able to move tomorrow...I have a torn rotator cup in my shoulder , if I over work it I pay the next day...


Big breakfast sounds good Mechelle... Ha we had fried hot wings and cream potatoes for breakfast... Kids want the craziest things on the weekends.. I love the traditional breakfast foods, but they have to eat that each day before school so weekends are a treat to them...

Hello everyone. I am new here but wanted to introduce myself. I have 3 gardens, one is 40ft.x 40ft. which is my vegetable garden, the second is a flower garden that is 40 ft. by 4ft., and the third is a raised bed combination strawberry patch and herb garden. Right now it his colder this year than most and my hubby and I are mulching in the strawberries and my perenial herbs. I am really looking forward to the new season this spring as I will be able to garden more again. It has been about 10 years since I could garden due to health problems associated with obesity. On August 31 I had gastric bypass surgery and by spring I should be 100 pounds lighter and more able to move.

No way I could leave plastic pots out, the doggies would have a ball. Spent all day re-potting potatoe trees, goodness know what I will do if they all come...only want a couple for our yard, oh well enjoy giving away anyway.

It's up to 20 degrees here, and if it was January, I would think it was beautiful outside! It's been snowing all afternoon, and coming down just as pretty as can be. It really is pretty! Just not so pretty for Oct! LOL

Well I think what I have are Louisiana Iris as I'm told that Dutch Iris have bulbs and not rhizomes. I like LA Iris better anyway.. Guess time will tell when they bloom!

Happy Monday Everyone!! Hope everone has a wonderful day!

I am up early and have lots to do lincluding cleaning some zinnia seed and some sunflower seeds. I have one appt today and will be going to mom's house to take some cloths in so I can wear them.

We had a hard freeze last night so the garden is done. I had my hubby go out and harvest our butternut squash so they would not freeze, boy was it a good year for squash. I will have some butterbnut squash seed to trade if anyone is interested.

Morning All - Welcome aboard our train Mickey, you'll enjoy the trip!

I did find some more genuine Italian purple hardneck (not redneck) garlic for northern gardens over the weekend. It's local grown at an Amish farm just down the road from here. These are nice clove sets ready for fall planting, not seeds. They plant pretty much like other fall bulbs, tulips and daffs, etc. I've got a good supply, will share some if you want.

LOL Seray! Nope, don't need to bring anything! I've got plenty for all! Just gonna throw some burgers and brats on the grill! I'm sure that you get snow too, ,Al. It really is pretty country! Can't wait for everyone to come and visit and see it all. Gilda will love it! Right now is elk hunting season, so the snow and cold really help! Nothing better than traipsing around the woods and listening to the elk bugling! Wednesday I leave for AZ to visit Kelly, don't know what to pack for clothes! Not used to weather that warm! LOL Guess I'll leave the long johns at home this trip.

Thanks, but God gets all the credit for the scenery. We are just lucky enough to be able to enjoy it everyday. And the weatherman says that we will be back up in the 50's and 60's by the end of the week and next week, so goodbye snow for now! That's alright. Maybe by the time I get back from AZ I will be able to finish my outside work. Still have plenty to do before winter really sets in for the year.

Great views Sandi! How I miss the snow (but not the cold!)...

I've talked to cue - she's really busy with life - lol - but I have not heard from Robin at all. She's really lost this time . . . Anyone heard from her?

You might want to pack your beach wear - lol. Normal temps are the low to mid 80s and we'll see that this week until Thursday - 93, then 99 for Friday and 100 for Saturday! I just want this heat to go away! It will be in the 60s to low 70s at night. Plus, every building you enter has the A/C blasting so if you're not used to that you'll be cold - lol. I always wear thin long sleeves or bring a light sweater if I'll be in a building too long or a restaurant as it gets downright chilly!

what i would do for snow hmmmm, i went to Tenn. to gatlinburg and pigeon forge in 1984 or 5 for a weekend i had sooo much fun i did learn that you dont park up hill on snow or ice you tend to slide some lol, i had fun though, i am planning on going to see snow if the husband behaves and acts like a human to me. my son really wants to go have a snowball fight. lol
well it is home and i am not allowed to be here so i better go before he gets mad again. chat later

ty. Seray we've had a run on deaths since my Mom died in dec 06...The rest of her family passed away, her brother, her sister, then my Grandpa all within a year.My Grandmother on her side passed away when i was 13 ... then my husband's Dad, and a host of cousins have gone or people really close to the family... Makes ya think about living right...you never know when it may be your turn... Raining here again today.. Makes for bad day to be driving but its only about 250 miles so not so bad...

My Grannie still living is 94 and tough as nails.. She still lives alone and takes care of most of her own business..Just bought herself a new golf cart for sporting around town in lol...but she cant drive thru all the traffic it takes to get to her Sisters house...Should be a fun trip she always giggles like a lil girl, and is really a very funny person...Her family is all long lived... this is her baby sister that passed away she was 86 She has 2 sisters older than her still living and a brother...
Her Dad lived to be over 100...

Sorry for rambling on...

Hope you guys all stay dry and warm while im away talk to you when I return... If you see any great deals for seeds especially daylily seeds add my name to the list lol... ..Im going to get a laptop for christmas then I can take you guys with me where ever I go... Bye Trish

Huney, enjoy the trip with your Granny! Be safe! She sounds like a wonderful person. Just think of all the changes she has seen in her life so far! How interesting it must be visiting with her!
The Smokey Mtns. are beautiful. I drove thru them this spring with my Mom. Was out in NC on business, so took a week and drove around the country on the way home. They really do look smokey all the time, but we didn't have much fog, so we could see for miles. Very pretty! It was a wonderful trip!

OMG,
Mother leaves the house for a week and look what happens a party!! Courtney is going to be famous , there is enough snow to make a snowman, I know you are struggling Tubby but you have a great will and sence of humor, and we can tell your wife thinks you walk on water so you are getting better as we speak...Hunny you have fun with Granny and listen close she knows things 94 years old that is impressive. I wish I could sit and listen to her for a day. Blonde and Mekos Mindy and Mechelle, well you know.

Our weather is making a nose dive this week. Good thing my greenhouse is almost ready. Today is to be the last nice day for a week. Brrrr. I got compost about 2 feet deep everywhere. Mulch on top. Still picking lots of seeds so surprises may come your way this fall /winter season just randomly. If it does, just enjoy or trade off. OR send to arejay for newbies.

Its going to snow here soon Jan. Anything you send is great!! We don't get a lot of herbs. Parsley and chives is what we do get.I have a stash and use them but we don't get a lot in seed donations of herbs,so if you come across them...
