What is this? An amaryllis blooming in September?
Didn't expect this at all. Made this cross over three years ago. I was rummaging around yesterday, making DYMO labels for all of the amaryllis, when I came across this.

Germa x H.papillio. First bloom.

I also wanted to mention to JT that this is a cross with one of those Doran h.papillio he purchased from me. It is a very green bloom, much like the pollen donor.
Anyway, I was really delighted.

Liz that is both unusual and beautiful.I look forward to using some of that Doran strain pollen on some of mine this year.
If I were you I would take special care of that one and let it multiply..
Here is another September bloomer.Lemon Lime from Carter.

Here's the latest pic of a new bloom on this one. I can't tell you how satisfying it is to know the cross was successful. A completely new flower form has been born. :-)

Yes, I do. I should have some available this coming spring. They will be on the small side as I have to wait for the parent to offset.
