I wish I had satellite internet service so I could post a picture of this! It's really dramatic. I'll try to describe it.
All experienced gardeners know that you never run sprinklers late in the day because it causes diseases if the leaves don't dry-out before dark. Most of our gardens are irrigated with a gravity drip system but we have two new acres under sprinklers. To make a long story short, the timer was set wrong (PM instead of AM) and a plot of late-planted cukes were accidentally sprinkled several evenings in a row during relativley cool weather. Not surprisingly, the cukes suffered terminal leaf spot damage after a couple of good pickings - but here's what's interesting:
The sprinkler didn't quite reach one end of the plot and there is a PERFECT ARC right across the patch with healthy green foliage on one side and total leaf spot devastation on the other side - I mean, literally, a distinct line of demarcation! Most amazing thing I ever saw!
I gotta get Hughes satellite service so I can post photos. You wouldn't believe this!
Thought it was worth sharing,
Jack
