Now that I have a garden, which hasn't had anything done to it in many many years, I'm in heaven. I've been spending the last few months cleaning up the soil, what a mess. Now I've bought a few Fan Flowers I'd like to plant against a white rock wall in the front of the house. What do I need to know to plant them so they will flourish. Our soil here is sandy and very old. Do I buy a certain kind of soil and replace or just mix a fresh soil in with the old? What's the best time to plant these beauties? How far down do I put them and how close together? I'm going for a straight across hedge look, they seem to be great for that. Beautiful flowers on this plant. Please help! I know nothing. Nice to meet you all.

Hi Whisper, welcome to DG. Is this the fan flower you are talking about?

Being new to Florida a short time ago I also found that I had many questions in regards to this semi- tropical area (Melbourne Beach Z-10A) and found that quite alot of answers can be obtained by joining the nearest Garden Club in your area. I did so and was amazed at how helpful those folks can be. Kent
