| Helene, I am so glad you like it
It has been a very enjoyable experience. The only drawback was the font size on this machine... can't make it any bigger. So your name might be hard to read...
Then the best thing is to find similar pattern cards to accompany the towels!!
No two towels are alike by the way.
Thank you Maid M for 'volunteering' me :D

I did Maid M... he said that's to remind you for all the lemon drops you brought him!!! Lol!!!

LOL Love seeing rick rack being used again. I don't have a clue why but I really like using it--may have to purchase some now and see if I can still do some of the things I did when I was younger.

| Just hope the buttons from the jar aren't antiques... Those would make very special towels!!!!!!
A elderly neighbor here collected old coins. A couple of months ago, someone broke into his home, stole about $10,000 worth from his collection, then used them to buy pop with.. the police recovered some of it, but not all.. And then there's always the one about an antique stamp being used to mail a letter LOL
My Gma insisted on going thru old buttons to see what she could find, I personally don't know the difference if I compared them, but there sure are alot of button collectors out there!
By the way, your towels are really cute! Completely different than the others, way to go!!!! |

October 22, 2009 01:45 PM Post #7197385
| Thank you Kizmo for your kind remarks on the towels.
Half of the buttons used are from a quilt store or WM.
Wow.. one of you ladies might just have an antique button. But I think it's highly unlikely.
It's strange that Kel loves buttons.
Just because you brought it up Kizmo, I'll look up online for antique buttons. That will be a nice Christmas gift for him ;)

October 22, 2009 02:38 PM Post #7197538
| Seems like everytime I go to an antique shop, I always find a jar of buttons tucked in a corner. My Grandmother had an old tin big enough to hold a 3 layer cake, that was full of buttons. Whenever they had to toss old clothing for rags or whatever, she would save the buttons in this tin. We used to play with them on the floor when we visited, sorting them into colors or shapes. Of course that was over 45 yrs ago, not sure what happened to them when she passed.
There are also collectors books on buttons, along with plenty of collections online, especially Ebay... some really pretty ones on there! But I'm sure your hubby already has checked it out, if he's a collector. I remember a dept. store going out of business when the owners retired and was moving back to Chicago from our little hometown. They had drawers and drawers of button stock, along with their fabrics and patterns. Their fabric section wasn't very big at all, but they sure had plenty of stock! All of it was auctioned off, someone probably got some real deals!
Here's a site with some info:

| Love the teacup fabric. It reminds me of the cutest chandelier I saw made from four cups and saucers. They used a small brass colored chandelier, painted it white and brushed it with pale green and pink to give it a shabby chic look, then they drilled through the saucers and cups and wired them to hold small bulbs. Each set was a different pattern, It was adorable.

Out town's postmaster won't 'resend' the envelope saying that your post office need to explain why it is't undeliverable...blah..blah..blah...
Went to another town, and I stuck that envelope into a new one, and mailed it out, with new DC # 0308 3390 0001 9030 2472
And if it works this time, you are in posession of the first envelope and that's your evidence your mail carrier isn't doing his job.
I've seen a wreath made out of tea-cups with baby's breath and tiny pink roses flowing out of them.
I bet that tea cup chandelier was awesome. |

| The towels are more and more beautiful. A real life thanksgiving present today. Couldn't be more timely. Stopped advanced Thanksgiving preps to say thank you. Beautiful, exact stitchery, learned how to apply yet another stitch that is on my machine as well.
Ladies "Happy Thanksgiving" to all and be well. Helene Click the image for an enlarged view.

| Cheryl, my towel arrived today and I just love it. It looks so delicate and the fabric just sets off the chickadee. It's a keeper for sure!!!! |

| I am glad you like them. As you all know by now I love all birds and the Chickadee is the Massachusetts state bird.
So you get a little me and a little Massachusetts too.

| Oh, I can't wait! My dad in law is interested too, in seeing what this new one will look like. I have 3 new amaryllis waiting to be potted this weekend, not counting the 9 others in the basement. He bought me 2 white orchids a couple weeks ago, so far I haven't killed them off like the first one.. LOL
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Helene! And to your family, also. Hopefully, your daughters will join you for the holidays! |

| My towel was here when we returned from Bradenton Beach, did't realize it was so close to Longboat Key. Very nice job on the birdie, Cher. I love it and will enjoy looking at it all this month! I do believe when it is my turn I will mail to Astrid first and after she posts that she has received hers then I will mail the rest.
