...but it's ok, the feeling is mutual.

I don't even know if I'm posting this in the right forum, so if not please direct me to where I want to go (but be nice about that please).

What we have here is a Pony Tail Palm that has triumphantly endured almost a year of suffering at the hands of my ex and the paws and claws of his cat. It has been shamefully stripped of it's leaves. It has been horrifically neglected and not watered (the "elephant foot" is shrunken). But, the most heinous act was when Evil Furball (yes, the cat) concocted the plan to hurl the poor, unsuspecting Palm off of the shelf, breaking it's beautiful terra cotta pot and any dignity it had left. *Sigh*

The ex (husband) then proceeded to re-pot the poor, across-kitchen-flung, uprooted Palm into a plastic food storage bowl with no drainage holes to try to cover the crime. I'm not sure if he offered the tortured Palm a sip of water or even a word of condolence after the tragedy it suffered.

I have not had the nerve to uproot the Palm again, it has endured enough. I would like to get a good look at the damage that was done there, but fear any more stress may prove too much. It's been through enough and hopefully has the will to survive...but I'm just not sure. Evil Furball may have been too much.

Any suggestions on resurrecting this Palm? Poisoning the Evil Furball and getting away with it?

I do have a new terra cotta pot I had gotten for the Palm before it suffered these injustices but now I'm concerned it may be too big. I'm not certain how root size matches/vs top size for these. Since the Palm has had such a tremendous haircut will it need a rootcut too?

Thanks for any and all help. We sure need it. And please let this serve as a lesson to all of those who leave any valuables behind when there is an Evil Furball lurking...
