was this for a halloween costume or were you looking for a little boys sailor suit shirt/pants like they wore many moons ago? I have pictures of my brothers when they were little wearing them. Mom said it was really popular back in the 40-50s.. I made one for my first son when he was a little over a year old, just for kicks. My grandmother really loved it!
Sorry I couldn't help with a pattern or idea, all my boys are grown now and the patterns I used for their things were long gone. Did you look online for one? I know its too late now, but here's a few sites for ideas:

it's probably old fashioned, not as big a Super Hero they all want today... I'd just as soon watch Popeye, Tom and Jerry, Felix the Cat, and the really old Mickey Mouse (Steamboat... ?). Those were cartoons, my friends!

KismoThis is for Halloween costume.  I did look at the web sites and cut out the pattern by some of his clothes for size.  The collar was a little tricky trying to figure out how to make it .  I got the pants sewn up and tried them on him yesterday when he came home from school for mreasuring the length.  I am going to put a draw string in the waste of the pants.  I have the top sewn partly together but wanted to measure for the opening for his head.  Have to cut it out a little more.  His head is a little big for his age.  Probably want get much done today because home from school yesterday with a stomach virus.  Was up with him until 1am this morning and he was awake at 5 am running a fever.  At least the vomiting is over. Now all I have to deal with is the temp.  His parents are in France and want be home until Sat morning.  At least he stayed well until now.  I just worry over that old swine flu.  One of the other kids in his class is sick too.  I have him laying on the couch now watching the old cartoons, he has already seen popeye this am and Tom and Jerry.  He is really not suppose to be watching these because of the hitting and fighting in them.  And he would not even know about the other superheros because he is not allowed to watch them at all such as batman and superman and spiderman.  His mom is very careful about those shows.  Mostly he watches educational programs but today is exceptional and trying to keep him still.  LOLGotta go and wash the bedclothes he messed up last night.  He ended up in bed with me.  LOL Will send picture of the costume when I finishSami

Oh yes he was warned ahead of time that it was just for the costume. No one in our family smokes and he knows that it is very bad for you to smoke.
