Four years ago I was given some iris rhizomes from a lady's garden. She died. Wanting to keep her love of the earth alive for her family I have since given rhizomes to her grandson from my plantings. I continue to do this every year. It's amazing how maybe 6-8 rhizomes have provided such joy to so many people. The amazing thing about this is I have a very small plot and I'm truly overwhelmed that they have survived like they have.

That's a wonderful story! Irises are incredibly tough, especially some of the older varieties I think. And they're a great pass-along plant!
