For the 3rd time in recent months something has caused my computer to think there is no sound device installed. I have XP home.I know there are no trojans, virus, etc, as I use Comodo,Spybot & Malware bytes. I am thinking it may be caused when a ms or windows update is installed, although I have it set to notify me so I can control the downloads. So far I have been able to recover the sounds by doing a system restore back a few days. I am off to do a restore now- wish me luck! Jo in COLD WA !
