I'm new to Paint Shop Pro Photo x2. Lost my old photo software when I bought a new computer a couple of years ago. Wish I had it back. LOL. As an example, I want to have a "before" and "after" picture saved together as one photo. Can someone tell me how to do that?
Its been a few days, guess you tried it. I use Paint Shop Pro too. Eggz is right, in PSP its edit>"paste as new selection" in that new image you created, is how I do it anyway. Don't forget to save!
Tried it over and over and over again. Could not get it to work. Wish I hadn't lost the old version. It did all I wanted to do. With this PSP Photo 12, I can do most of what I want to do but when it gets to layers and a lot of other terminology that the manual has no definition for ... then I'm lost and get frustrated with all the time I'm wasting. Probably would be easier to use the new if I had been using the old version recently but lost it about 18 months ago and just recently bought PSP 12. Wish Corel had a users forum.
Can't figure out simple things like: After selecting and using a tool, how to de-select it and stop using it without having to select another tool that I don't want to use?? There is such a huge number of buttons that are hard to see and I have a very large monitor. Don't see how anyone could use it with a small monitor. I did see mention of changing the dark gray color of the workspace to lighter. When I work with it again, will do that first thing.
On a more encouraging note, received HGTV Home & Landscape Platinum Suite software this weekend. So far, I'm REALLY impressed with how user friendly they've made such a complex software. So I'm going to focus on redesigning my landscape and will get back to PSP later.
If you want something that's a little simpler to use, you could try downloading Picasa from Google--it's free and I know it'll collage photos together and has other basic photo editing functions.
When he was being paid to fix something else, computer tech took it upon himself to install Picasa on my notebook computer. After repeated crashes, did a little research on line and found info suggesting Picasa as the culprit. I uninstalled it and no more crashes. Don't know what it was conflicting with but it had to go. So don't want to try it on my desktop PC.
I use PSP 12 for limited things like crop and correct color, etc. When I have more time to devote to it, hopefully, I'll figure the rest of it out. I just don't find Corel's tutorials to be very helpful at the beginner level.
Thanks. In doing more searching, I did finally find Corel's newsgroup for PSP12. And it seems that everyone else has the same problems and questions I do, so I have found many answers already.
Isn't it annoying that some some software doesn't
make it easier to find tutorials? Or provide some
online step by step instructions, with pictures!
I'm glad you found something that helps.
When you get your first collage done, post it
here so we can see your accomplishment.
I use psp too but not the same program, I use psp 7. Although its different I thought maybe the functions were similar.
A while back I made this with a tutorial on psp6 I think. I can't find those tutorials on the web now. There are tons with a Google search though. - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=psp tutorial&aq=f&oq=&a...
Yes, please do post your collage.
Shortleaf, VERY nice. My "collage" won't be anything artistic like yours. Well, maybe someday. LOL. But now I'm consumed by project of redesigning total landscape of our home after landscape destroyed by waterflow issues. Trying to keep a photo record of before and after to compare as motivation for myself along the way because I'm physically and mentally worn out from working on it. The before/after photo also helps me visualize what changes to make as I move from one area to the next. Gives me a better view as far as plantings being too thick or too thin or wrong height, texture, colors, etc. For me, the PSP and HGTV design software are both just tools like a wheelbarrow or shovel. LOL. Hope I live long enough to get to the fun part of all this.
Thanks Dogs. "Anything artistic like mine" hehe.. really it doesn't take a lot! : ) Just some patience is all.
Doing those tutorials is a good learning tool though. They get you more familiar with the program and what it can do.
Layers aren't that hard. Its just remembering all the steps and stuff. But layers is probably one of the best things I learned in psp, it comes in handy quite a bit when making your own images.
I made this banner for my cousin, it has quite a bit of layering in it. Notice how the letters are see through? The frog wasn't in that photo until I put it in there from another photo. That photo was regular size before I squished it down to the dimensions of a banner. I'm not a graphic designer, I just had a pretty good thirst for knowledge about Paint Shop Pro in my spare time.
Please don't anybody go to that site, it isn't a plug.
