Nearly every year, I find many monarch caterpillars munching down my dillweed. My neighbors report that they too lose a lot of dill to monarch children. ???? Dill is certainly not a milkweed. I have confirmed that the caterpillars in question are definitely monarchs (a friend happens to be a butterfly expert). What's with our bugs?
Well how interesting! I just got done telling another reader about Black Swallowtail caterpillars that I thought she must be seeing on her parsley, which she' mistook' for monarch. Both are similar sized and similar striped but can be told apart by a semi trained eye. I'm not going to call your expert into question on it. I think you should take a good picture of the cat in question and post here, or send your inquiry to these folks http://www.monarchwatch.org/milkweed/prop.htm
