Does anyone know if morning glory seeds are still viable if collected after a frost? The seed pods are soft. I brought them in and left them in a brown paper bag to dry, but I'm wondering if I should just dump the whole lot. I did manage to collect a few before the frost.

yes they are still viable...even if you do nothing they will grow back in the same place you planted them year after year thicker and thicker (and a few places you didn't want them)

That's for sure. They'll pop up all over the place! I spent the summer pulling up vines in nearby flower beds. They even started climbing on my shrubs. YUK!

Thanks for the info. I collected the seeds this year, as I don't want them where I had originally planted them. The seeds collected after the frost seem to be very soft yet, and much bigger than the seeds I collected prior to the frost - like they are swollen. Will they dry with time?

Mostly they were dark purple, but I did have some light pink and lighter shades of purple. I was given a bunch of seedlings in the spring, but didn't plant them in the right place, so I need to replant next year. Thanks for all the info!

If you guys had been raised on a cotton farm, you wouldn't have a morning glory around you.

lol Jim I remember having to walk the bean fields and pull them up all summer on my aunts farm...cause she wouldn't let me near the corn, I was too tiny, she said, but the boys were walking the corn and anything they could do I could do. and after the first week she realized i wasn't gonna give up so I'd get to do what they boys did including buck hay... but every summer started they same way...your too little
