I would think that lime free soil is soil that is acidic rather than alkaline. I think your best bet is to contact your county agent
and get a recommendation. I know that lime is added to soils to reduce the acidity of them, so they can probably give you the info you need to make lime free soil. Seems like in MS with its' number of pines etc, the soil is probably rather low in lime. County agent/master gardener would be my best recommendation.
What I'm trying to do is grow Lapageria from seed & it says to use a lime-free soil. I am sending DH to the store to get some. I need to know what to tell him to get. Thank you.
You want an acid based soil. Something recommended for azaleas or rhododendrons...will say on the bag "for acid loving plants" or words to that effect.
