First of all, I have to admit I am the one to blame, when he was 3 years old I just could not get him out of my hair just for even a few minutes, I tried different toys, geo trax etc... to try to get his attention somewhere else, at least while I was cooking or cleaning, it really was driving me insane.
One day I decided to go to Gamestop and saw that they had the gamecube for just $30, so I thought why not maybe he'll like to play this a little and see if I can find educational games for it. Well, I was wrong not many games are educational in this system and so I started buying games such as mario, he also has spongebob etc... What I never predicted is that he was going to be so addicted to this video games, in fact that is all he wants to do. He is very good at it, and I am trying to limit the time that he plays with it but sometimes is hard, especially when my DH and I are trying to work in a project like building a shed etc... I have to admit that it is easy for me to just turn the console on and let him play while I am doing something important.
We (DH and I) have tried to get him to help us building the shed but he just does not show any interest and practically gets in the middle instead of helping.
Now I have asked many friends about this problem and they all say I should just take the video games fom him cold turkey and not let him play anymore.
I am wondering whether or not buying him a leapster for Christmas, I think since he like video games and he is good at them whether he could at least learn something from them or should I just take all video gaming out of the house and get him to play with other toys.
I am also trying to get him to help me plant veggies in my garden, but he does not show much interest.
I need advice on what to do, I want him to be more active and to play with his imagination more like I use to when I was a kid.
