I had one in my garden this year that almost looked like a chartreuse green and black. It was a scribbler as it had the familiar scribbling in its web. I watched it with interest daily even though I am not a fan of spiders. One morning I went out to check on her and she was gone, no sign of her anywhere. I was saddened because I think she succumbed to the much larger wolf spiders I have seen in my garden. I thought I had taken a picture of her but can't seem to find it.

There are several species of Argiope spiders, so you may very well had a 'cousin' in your garden. I've never seen a wolf spider actually venture into another spider's web for a meal, but they are about as bold as any spider on the planet, so it is entirely possible.
