This summer I scooped up and took home several quarts of sand from the Atlantic ocean shore in Delaware. The idea was that maybe if I wash it well and dry it (Lowe's used to carry "washed sand" for kids' sandboxes) I could get the salt out of it? Then I could mix it in with my potting soil for my cacti/succulents. Is this a dumb idea? When you look at it, sand is tiny pieces of rock ... so perhaps the salt content could be washed or boiled out ... feedback is greatly appreciated.
