this Cereus uruguayanus was a gift, a very old and neglected critter. last fall i placed it in the ground and then early in the season the new growth started, see first pic, and then the four arms kept growing throughout the summer and now the two largest are over 18 inches tall. just amazing to me that they could grow so tall so fast. two of the other cactus that were given to me also grew like crazy; and one probably has grown a little but is sporting new babies and the last one i don't think has done anything. xuling
