I wish I had joined earlier-- I purchased young J. Maple last fall and planted immediately. This Spring it grew like crazy, full of leaves and promise. Then in about July the leaves started to die from the top down (I had not been to that side of yard for about 2 weeks). When I noticed, the bark had a milky type (mildew) substance on and around the trunk of the tree. I sprayed for pest/insects as the Army worms were going nuts with hunger in my yard (none around this tree). This didn't help the problem but it did not progress either.
The wet weather has been hell on alot of plants- but what is up with this?? Any suggestions?
