The name says it all. Was hunting everywhere for something that was dead. It smelt a bit like someone had just put Blood and bone out but worse. I do think that the flower is worth the smell though. It's huge about 2 feet long and 6 inches across at the fattest part but boy does it smell. When I was taking the photo my stomach came up into my throat I'm sure. Anyway enjoy the pic and NO smell. Lovely Colleen . I do like them and find the smell of mine is not bad here. Maybe smells more in the heat. I like the splotchy leaves too. I don't think these type of plants like the cold much as I have other types that haven't grown yet. They are still alive in the pots so maybe one day a large smelly flower may appear on them.

Oh, Colleen, that bloom is magnificent. I love it.
There are folks over here that would love to own that.
Don't you love the intense colors of the purple
and black together. Absolutely incredible.

Thats amazing Colleen, I'm glad I can't smell it! The little stapelia can pack quite a bad smell too, and that is enough! Gorgeous bllom. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone for your comments. The smell was a lot worse than Stapelias if that's possible. Not so much smell today just the beauty. Colleen

Beautiful happy plant, Colleen. Thank goodness the dragon's den stench only last a couple days...you would think something that lovely could pick a better pollinator than a carrion eater...grin

No problems looking at the darn thing it's the smelling that's not to good. Bit like when the smell of a dead roo comes in through the air conditioner in the car.
