I think this is a member of the sage family, another dg thought it might be "black and blue". I looked at a black and blue today and those leaves were much more pointy..this plant has rounder leaves..any guess?

It has to be a Salvia guaranitica, leaves or no leaves. I'm guessing it's the cultivar 'Argentine Skies', as 'Black and Blue' has black calyces.

S. guaranitica morphs like crazy. If you like this one, grow it from cuttings. Great plant!

'Argentine Skies' has light blue flowers. I think this is just the plan species of S. guaranitica.

I am learning so much here! On another forum someone suggested that this could be "Van Remsen" and after looking at other images I am thinking that's what this is. The garden it came from had lots of tall plants and this cultivar is hardy in the zone of that garden. Thanks to all of you for helping me with this!
