| I wish I could send it south,it was mixed with rain last night and the top fencing on the small coop is almost on the ground from the weight of snow and freezing rain.I was wondering how the avery netting would hold up to that and it is fine no saggging that I can see from my window. |

| yep, had it break more than one chicken pen fence. Last time it was 26 inches of snow on top of the fence that finally pushed it down. Snow in October isn't that unusual here. I remember trick r treating with my snow suit under my costume when i was little. Closest it got to us this time was Northwestern Kansas I think. Its just cold & damp here today. I can't wait till the first good snow. That's the best part of winter! hmm.. what is Avery netting? Never heard of that. |

I love both of those pictures. The snow is beautiful and creates such a beautiful setting. That stand of small trees surrounded by snow is beautiful Kassy. It will be interesting to see how your netting holds up to the full winter of snow you will be getting Green. The biggest problem with the netting is when it gets wet and then freezes and then snow piling up on it. It took down one of my fences last year and It had snow on it for a month. Its just part of the cost of keeping the girls I guess. Love the pic's. Hay |

| :) don't worry.. I'm far enough north of you that it can come here & not get you. I've heard rumors of snow flurries next week! Just as long as there are NONE on Halloween. Costumes this year don't work very well with snow suits. |

| Thanks Haystack,
And I love taking pic's
October 12th is the earliest I can ever remember of it snowing here. Later in October, yes, but not as early as the 12th. According to National Weather Service records, the earliest measurable snowfall ever recorded in Green Bay was Oct. 9, 1925...I'm real close to Green Bay, of course, I wasn't around in 1925.

| Thanks green, I wish he was my spider. I found him when I was headed up north, and I just had to take a picture of him.
Someone is very talented.
Other then the one day of snow, it has been raining a lot here too.
This was also done by the same people who did the spider Click the image for an enlarged view.

| It started snowing here on wednesday and didn't stop til last night. We got about 20 inches. Our girls won't go near it. They didn't mind the earlier light snows we had, but this one is bigger than they are, lol. Nothing like being snowed in with 2 bored chickens. |

| We just got our chickens this summer so I can't wait to see what they do in the snow. They're 4 months old now. This week we moved their coop up nearer to the house for ease of caring for them during the winter. Tonight when I get home from work I'm putting the cat/dogs in the house and letting the chickens out to 'free range' for the first time. Can't wait to see what they do! |

| Elleisn I thought we had it bad here but no 20 inches for us this early, your poor chickens!!The only way I could get my chickens to come last winter in the snow was to put down hay or straw so they would have something other than snow to walk on.I let wome of ours out to free range the other day and they loved it,I didn`t dare let out any of my EE`S as they fly really high and I was afraid they would fly in the trees and would not come down at dusk.We have hawks and fox, skunks, racoons and weaels so they had to stay in the run and they were not happy about that. |
