This is the first year I have ever grown EE and I'm digging them up to relocate to a better location. I have C. esculenta 'Burgundy Stem', and even on the largest one, the bulbs look odd to me. This plant is only about 3 ft tall, and when digging it up I expected to find a larger bulb. The largest, most beautiful plant had two very small bulbs. I bought these as very small plants from our local botanical garden.. I know I sound very naive, but I guess my thinking they would be the size of the ones I see for sale in the store is quite unrealistic. I'm feeling disappointed with what I've dug up and I'm wondering if maybe I didn't dig deep enough..
Can someone please tell me if what I dug up is normal or if I need to go back out there and dig deeper??
Thanks,
Tracey
