| I love the heron. I don't have one on my list, although I've seen them. I only started my list this year, so have seen a lot of birds I don't have on it.
I put up a Bluebird box in mid-summer because that was when I got around to it. Didn't expect any action until next spring, but a pair seems to have taken possession. They are on it and in and out all day for the past couple of weeks.

Reddirt, that is a beautiful BB! Glad to hear they're already staking out the house for spring.

Burd - so many great shoots. I particularly enjoyed that striking mallard, I know where some are at here in Columbus. Gotta go check them out. And that second shot of the GB Heron, what an awkward looking bird.

| Quoted: | | Not the clearest photo, but this is the first time I've seen a yellow-shafted Northern Flicker here. |
I'd say it's an intermediate or hybrid; the malar stripe ("moustache") is red, as in Red-shafted, rather than black as in 'pure' Yellow-shafted, and it doesn't have a red spot on its nape, though it does have the browner face of Yellow-shafted.

| I'm now seeing Yellow-rumped Warblers in the yard. Unfortunately my bird watching has to be done from the inside as we're having heavy rains here today and tomorrow. |

| They are just the cutest little birds! According to NWF "Field Guide to Birds of North America", they are one of the lightest of our birds. At .18 oz. they are lighter than some hummingbirds. Amazing! |

| Got me a Lifer - Ya Hoo. This is the first time I've ever seen a Brown-headed Nuthatch.
I've been seeing this little bird for a while, but never had my camera. It was pouring rain, but it still paid a visit to a feeder. I was on my porch about 25 yards away..
Of course, the House Sparrows are always around.

just the clouds falling, forming

then good ole sol pops out and
everyone lives happily everafter
