I have a few questions about collecting a spousal benefit.
As many of you know Steve receives SS Disability.
I was thinking that when I retire (hopefully at 62) I will begin collecting the spousal benefit which is 1/2 the amount that Steve receives until the time I reach the age of 65 and then I would switch and begin collecting my own Social Security benefit which then would be a higher amount.
My question is:
If I switch and collect my own benefit and something happens to Steve, could I then switch again and begin to collect his SS which would be a higher amount?
