I'm one of those gals who not only has everything, but carries it all with her- so I've got baggies, scissors and markers in my bag at all times. You never know when a seed-snatching opportunity will arise! ;)

(And yes, as a matter of fact, I -do- keep gardening gloves and a trowel in my truck... LOL)

Pony,

I now keep an old camera in the glove box of the car. Snap before you
snatch I say & mark on the label the shot # on the film. New to
snatchin but boy did I catch on quick!!

Good thinking, taking a pic! My phone has a camera built in, I can just use it. ;)

That's a great idea! Even if my label makes sense to me later, I may forget details about the plant I snatched from... or I may have no idea what kind of plant it was, only that I liked it. A photo to help with ID would keep me from having seeds labeled "pretty yellow flower." :-)

In memory of Pony1's friend, you can always scatter your extra seed along a desolate road to beautify it and provide future seed for other gatherers!!!! I still do that...

Yep, that's a great thing to do with "not quite sure what this baggie is" seeds, too!

Aw, Barb... you're a sweety. :)

Scattering seeds in memory of Ivy will be a life long hobby for me.

I had to climb on the hood of my work truck to grab these babies! I do prefer the non-chalant approach most times but it isn't always possible. The pods are from cassia fistula. The most beautiful tree. Dripping in yellow flowers. Fragrant and bees love'em. Just had to have a few pods. Of course the tree was located in the lot of the public library. I believe the initial shyness surrounding our passion passes.

Plant - don't think I'm agile enough anymore to stand on a car hood but I must admit that it is something I would love to have seen !

Barb - thats an excellent idea and I certainly know the place to start.

There are several roads through the marsh to get to the marinas on the coast in my little town. Only one has marsh mallows along the edge of the road & only on one side.(Thanks to the town mower's exuberance)

Marsh mallows are podding unbelievably now - so I'll scatter some of the pods on the other roads to beautify them as well & make sure they're out of the mowers way.
