Some say when a recipe calls for a packet of instant soup mix for example, they create their own with spices and herbs they've grown themselves. HOW?
How do you know what spice/herb goes with what food?
How do you know what herb/spice goes with another herb/spice?
I grow sage so I can make dressing at thanksgiving, but that's about the extent of my herb/spice knowledge...
Cumin is good in chili...
Rosemary is supposed to be good on chicken, though I don't use it unless it is called for in a recipe.
I'm really not very educated in herbs/spices and their flavors, and would like to learn more!
