| Hello everyone. I thought I'd do a move today as I will be gone all day tomorrow. I will leave the key under the pot plant so someone can open for me and put out something nice. I will be outside later, getting all my plants loaded on the trailer ready for the Show. I hope the weather stays fine but cloudy to keep the sun off us out in the open. There were thunderstorms around yesterday all over the place but they missed us entirely. It was an awful day . very humid which was a shock to the system after so much cold. I will see you all again when I come back in on Monday. I hope to sell all my plants so I can buy maybe just one ot two new ones.
Have a happy weekend.

| Hi everyone. I'm back from my wonderful holiday. It's lovely to be back but the weather is absolutely terrible. It's so hot. The shadehouse is nearly finished. I have to rub the pond back and paint it and just get a few pieces of lattice to put in a few places. John has done a wonderful job and I'm so proud of him, looking after everything and getting the shadehouse done. I haven't read all the posts yet so can't comment on anything that has happened over the past week, but will catch up. Will put the first shot of the shade house up for you all to see. Will come back tomorrow to have a cuppa with you all. Colleen Click the image for an enlarged view.

| Sorry everyone I put it under the wrong brick ...I got distracted by some friends dropping in ...gosh it has been hot here, I had better break out the ice cream spiders ...who likes ginger or lime spiders ...mmm.
Your greenhouse is looking fantastic colleen ...wonderful job you must be proud of the young bloke.Iced tea will be ready in just a few minutes, who wants iced coffee with whipped cream and a cherry?
sorry brian ...whatever will jean say when she comes back,
I wonder how her market sales went today.I hope she did well since she wants acres of new iris :)
Gee it looks pretty quiet around here, I bet everyone is having a busy day ...it's that time of the year isn't it?
I am looking forward Australian Idol tonight ...I wonder who will be leaving ...it's always a bit sad when we get down to the last few.
We have had a plane come down around here again today ...no one hurt luckily ...I always hold my breath when the planes cut their motors in order to glide ...(thinks) please don't let anyone be hurt and please don't crash on my angels/home.
Ok hopefully some of the gang will notice the tea shop is open and pop in now ...perhaps if I ring the bell.

| I'll have a tea thanks Chrissy. We're pretty warm today but the cacti love it and my Brugs are handling it OK so far. If Jean has a good day she won't worry too much about the Tea Room not being opened early as long as it is opened. Bit too warm for the cream cakes I'll settle for a Twin Choc or Eskimo Pie. Do you young'uns remember them bet you don't remember a Thruppenny icecream in a cone. We reckon we invented the "Cold Cat" the opposite of "Hot Dog". We'd get one of those Thruppenny icecreams and put it into the middle of a yeast bun and have that for school lunch.

| Of course I remember a thruppeny ice cream and two cobbas for a penny ...my favourite though was Smith's chips that came in a waxed paper pkt with a sachet of salt. You could smell them right through the Odeon Theatre at Rockdale where I went to the movies every saturday arvo.
Don't know about ice cream sandwhiches ...but we would eat them on wafers.
My favourite food on hot days is hot chips with malt vinegar and lots of salt.
Sweet stuff does not ring my bell all that much.Hubby has a very sweet tooth, it's usually the otherway around.
Well it's true ... this has been the coldest Oct., in 17 years and my plants reflect this.
Our Blood oranges are very late ...same with the persimmons, The fruit trees in general are lagging way behind.

The "Cold Cat" wasn't exactly a sandwich, Chrissy. You must have a different name for the Yeast Bun, ours is a sweet fruit yeast bun not a bread bun, which I reckon are "Rolls" no matter the shape or size.

| Good morning everyone. I'm back to see what mischief went on while I was gone. It is overcast here but warm. Yesterday was beautiful. It was hot but the clouds were there for some of the time which kept the direct sun off. There was a small breeze which helped too. I sold over half of what I took down and made a very nice amount. I also won the first prize for the best waterwise and and colorful garden. I have a $20 dollar gift card to use at Mitre10. Guess where I am going this morning. Hubby says I could wait until next shopping day, but he knows I want to spend it NOW. I will buy something I usually couldn't afford instead of just potting mix or something like that.
I see Chrissy opened the door for you all but was late. Spiders, what next Chrissy ? Now everyone will be wanting them.
I love the old memories . Once one starts off, the mind goes back and reminds you of all the things back then quite clearly. I was a saturday arvo picture goer. We would all take an armful of comics along to swap. Seeing all the families out for evening walks with the kids in pyjamas. Imagine doing that now. you would have to have an armed escort in most places nowadays.
I am off to buy at Hamilton. Sue , that little vriesia pup is growing well.
I may buy me a bromeliad . hmmmm, thinking .
Brian, my large cacti with the white flowers have buds again this year. I also have tiny red buds on the small cactus that keeps falling apart , Peanut cactus I think.
Better move, I'll see you all later and tell you what I ended up with from the shop.
Have a great day and try this Blueberry Pie, seeing as how Chrissy didn't give you any nibbles yesterday. hello to everyone.

Jean - congrats on your profitable sale! I'm sure you will enjoy your spending spree!
Brian - ooh, ooh, I remember Eskimo Pies!! Did you have them in Australia or somewhere else? You can still buy them here! If they wouldn't melt, I'd send you a box for old times' sake!
Hello, Chrissy and Sue and anyone else peeking in, looking for an iced tea! Can any of you tell me the name of this hibiscus? I just stumbled on it today and I fell in love with it. The colors are so pretty! We had Halloween here last night and about 60+ kids came in adorable costumes for candy. They started coming at 7:00 pm and then we turned our light off at 8:45.

Those buns are OK for eating, I think we called them cinnamon buns but are no good for "Cold Cats" because they won't pull apart, anyhow they wouldn't last long enough to find the icecream.
The Eskimo Pies were available here (might still be) but the old ones from the 1940s were a rectangular piece of icecream coated in chocolate and wrapped in "Silver Paper" (Foil). The wrapping was a real novelty to us and would be saved just for looking at, long after the Icecream was gone.

Colleen your shadehouse looks great, you are going to love it. And having a hottie building it is a bonus as well lol, (for the non related anyway :-)
Louise those bites are very nasty, I am glad he is on the mend if be it slowly. That hibiscus is lovely, I am not surprised you fell in love with it, I would as well.
Chrissy, Toby quit !!! and he would have made the top 4, that was a surprise as well I really thought he would go this week, by the voting public, not quitting, you are right he will always be a teacher, and the way the kids feel about him, he must be a good one. My pick is still Stan and Nathan for the final. I am wrong about most things, so probably this as well lol. The seeds arrived on Friday and planted on Sunday, I will let you know as they progress.
Jean well done on your win and profit, enjoy spending it, maybe a new Iris or 2 lol.
I have to go lots to do, have tomorrow off, am going to the races, have a great evening all

| Hello all. I am back from town. We had a nice lunch over in Hamilton, courtesy of the plant sales. I used my gift card to buy a lovely couple of pot plants A lavender in the Ruffles series called 'Sweetberry' , lovely light pink and a Gaura 'Passionate Pink' with pink foliage and flowers.
It has turned very hot here since lunchtime after a cold morning. The plants all look limp and gaspimg. Once it cools in the evening they will perk up. Chrissy, stop bringing in those delicious buns. I ate 2. i will have to forgo my tea tonight if I eat more.
I used to love Eskimo Pies at the Saturday pictures. Like Brian said, done up in shiny foil.
I used to love those wafers too Chrissy.
Hello Louise, you can send me a box of those Eskimo Pies too. If I send the carpet over, it won't take long to get them here. I might not want to share though Brian.
Colleen, great shadehouse. Wait a few months and you will be looking for another that one as that will be full.
Better go and have a cuppa. I have been out in the sun as a couple of visitors dropped by but didn't want to stay long so they chatted outside . 10 minutes in the sun was enough. Nice to see them but I was glad when they left.
Catch up to everyone again later or tomorrow. Forecast thunderstorms have not come . not that I want lightning etc, but Hamilton was hit the other night and the hail shredded the trees.
Enjoy your day or what is left of it.

| Hello all..we called them "chelsea buns" here..still do. It's been a pleasant 27C but tomorrow is supposed to get into the high 30's and stormy and rainy for a few days so it must be a pain for the weather forecasters. I guess if they predict evrything for the following week, they'd be about right most of the time!
There is an enormous turkey mound in the backyard of the nice neighbour. I should take a photo of it as he is proudly standing by the big hole and keeps "testing"it waiting for some lucky lady turkey to take a shine to it...and him. Baby turkeys are almost cute, especially when they fly. Big turkeys are not!!!!!!
I've had a few more epi blooms and there are more buds coming. Jean, your epi paradise must be sensational at the moment! I am on the way down with my secateurs and I will pay you in turkeys! Hahaha Not much else is flowering at the moment. The garden looks dry and untidy..very hard to get plants to stay alive in the ground as they either get dug up or jumped on by my black friends. Nothing really grows near that fence either so I have a long row of large pots full of bamboo and gingers.I have some fine green wire to put up inside our fenceline... I will gradually get it all wired in so the chooks have a bigger area to run in and I can put some epi shelves there again. They were doing quite well there till the fencing two years ago.
Your greenhouse looks wonderful, Colleen. I love your fences too. ;) Is that your son in the photo? Is he building you shelves as well? Keep us updated with pictures! Happy gardening!

| Hi everyone. Been an absolute horror of a day here. Lightening and thunder last night but very little rain. It's overcast again now and windy but a bit cooler. Thanks all for the comments about the shadehouse. I have only put my hippies in there so far. It's just been too hot. Yes Kat that is my eldest son John in the pic. He's the one who has done this wonderful construction for me by himself. He's drilling holes in the brick wall for me to hang things from no not shelves Kat, but then that might be another idea. He still has things to do in there, like connect the pond and put the misting sprinklers overhead, connect the tank to a pump. I still have 3 powerpoints to get put in for pumps and lights. I have spent the last 2 days trying to get everything watered. John watered the brugs and under the pine tree [broms mostly] he wouldn't forget them. He said he just didn't have time to do everything and try to finish the shadehouse. Nothing has died yet so hopefully it will be okay. Chrissy I have a few brug seeds appearing now with the hot weather. Mine haven't been as successful as Brian's. 99% of the cuttings are fine though so have quite a few to keep me busy and to put on a good show for me. The Pelargoniums and Geraniums have been absolutely beautiful this year. Most are still flowering but the sun has done a lot of damage to them. The plants are okay though. Just a bit to add to the Eskimo pies, I knew them as Choc Wedges and they were wrapped in silver and blue foil. I've been trying to think of those cinnamon bun's names all day. I thought they started with a C. Louise your garden is looking well cared for now. You have been busy. Which do you prefer? Florida or NH. I love the pics from NH. It looks so serene there. I laughed when Jean pulled out the magic carpet for the Eskimo Pies. That carpet sure comes in handy. Hope everyone is well and that the weather cools off a bit so we can get into the garden again. | Good morning all. It is very windy here but we missed any storms going around. A little rain , a few rolls of thunder and the wind. I have put all the leftover plants away now after the show. They will sit around until about April when the Lions Club have their trash and treasure auction. I always sell quite a few on that day if the weather is fine. I have been out to look at my irises for photogaphing. They come out one or two at a time, then all at once there are lots. I try and catch the first flowers on each just in case the weather or bugs get to them. The bugs are pretty good here. There are lots but you never notice much damage unless you look closer. Of course on the large Angel leaves , you can see the holes but they survive. I have had a few aphid squishing days but they are not too bad this year. I was hoping for a lot more rain to wet down the new iris area again as it has dried out a lot. I want to keep it a bit on the damp side until I plant .
Hello Louise. Love hibiscus and I do have one pretty yellow one but they don't do well here because of the cold winters. You can expect over for those icecreams any time. From what I can remember , ours were wrapped in the foil which was green . I still buy those cinnamon buns very occaisionly. I'm not too keen on a lot of icing but I do like the buns. I was very good yesterday and resisted the temptation to come home with packets of yummy soft marshmallows. The ones with the toasted coconut. I picked them up and put them back. The packet would not have reached home anyway.
Hello Kat. My epis are so slow this year. The buds are all there but I go down every day and see none open yet. Only the one so far. Even the old faithful red on the veranda is not open and he's usually the first.
I am watching the dyckias closely. Hubby can't get over how quickly and how tall the flower stems have grown. I have never seen them in flower.
Hello Colleen. You will be so busy getting that shadehouse full. Have you planned where the next one will go ? ha ha.
Elaine, lovely to see you. Looking forward to seeing your Christmas decorations again.
Hello Chrissy, I hope you have had no more storms up there. Your jungle will be like the Amazon with the wet and the heat, Watch out for Kat's python, it may take up residence. I was looking at gorgeous stuffed animals yesterday in Hamilton. One was a large black panther. Now he would look good in your jungle. but I think his 'fur' may not like the weather.
Better move as I want to see if I can get over the the hairdresser at Coleraine. I hate my hair when it starts to grow too much. I used to have it permed every year to keep it tidy but now I just keep it short. Have a happy day everyone and hello to all I haven't mentioned. I will leave something nice out for you all to enjoy. | Good morning all, just a quick visit today, I am not suppose to be here, but it is not for long, a couple of hours on my day off to help out.
Kat I saw a special on abc the other night on your turkeys, what cows of birds, they never leave once they have found a home, are very territorial and very destructive, my god they were even pinging off snakes, I am very sad to say you have no hope in sight.
Colleen lovely colour, very very pretty.
Jean I hope you find some lovely Iris to photograph.
Elaine look forward to seeing your progress on the chrissy decorations.
Louise I had that verigated Hibiscus, but I could not get rid of this miserable little moth that used to infest it and hatch out 10 million grubs, it always looked awful, so I am afraid I gave it the chop and got rid of it, and I have not had that moth or its babies back since.
I have to go, off to the races, I love this day of the year, get to get dressed up and look like a girl for a day lol. I even wear a dress, which amazes and amuses my kids, I live in jeans and a dress is a rare day indeed lol. They even come over and take photos of the once a year event just to give me heaps, don't you just love cheeky kids :-)
Have a wonderfull day all
Smile and stay safe, and for those having a punt good luck and have a win

Shelly, sounds like you will have had a nice time at the races.
Jean, rain? How nice. Send a bit up here eh? Actually, the drop we had last week has kept the ground moist, but with the hot days, it wont last long.
Elaine, you are so ontop of xmas! I just bought a couple of brain teaser puzzles for the blokes-in-laws, but I have much more to do yet.
I got an email from a friend in NZ today who has her lights up and working already!
Theresa your poppy is magic! Thats the one used for rememberance or anzac isn't it?
Its been hot here too Chrissy, and I had to work in it which was quite hard, but a slower day tomorrow thank goodness. I've had my first dip in the pool for the season, and needed three beers to cool down!
Must be time for desert I reckon. Maybe a rum and dry?

| Good morning all. It is a good morning here after yesterdays cold. Still a bit chilly but will warm up. Chrissy, I don't like the cold but getting around 40C is not good either. Perpetual Spring weather around 28C would be nice. Rain at night and a nice breeze. We can have it here at the Tea Room but alas not in the real world. I will be running off later today for a haircut and posting a few things. Chrissy I am still thinking on how to post your children. They will arrive one day though. I have a few plants to get into the ground before the heat really returns. We never had much rain yesterday , just enough to freshen things up.
Hello g_whizz, are you a lady or another gent to join our male gardners ? Welcome to our Tea Room. You may chat about anything here and we do like pictures of gardens to admire. The weather is always exactly what you want in here. There are usually lots of nibbles unless someone was too hungry and scoffed the lot.
Hello Sue. I bought a new bromeliad on eBay. It is a mumma with 3 pups, one almost a mum size itself. It is called A. gracilus , but I'll have to wait and see if it is. A lovely small one.
Colleen , I like the bright orange fish pond. It will soon blend in with the brom colors. I hope you get lots of frogs. I haven't see any frogs this year but they will be around later when it gets hot and dry. They will want their little bathing pools in the broms.
Hello Elaine, take it easy in that heat. I never worry much about Christmas decorations here as noone sees them. If I don't put any up, I don't have to take them down later. We do go for a drive to see the houses in town with their lights. I often say to hubby that he could run lights up his radio tower, I don't think it would be allowed somehow. Too high.
Picked the Cup winner because of the jockeys name . I have often had a small ( very small) bet on the horses and on that jockey because of his name being C Brown , same as my son. I used to back a very good hurdler called Calvin for the same reason.
I have not been to a Melb. Cup for a long time. I used to love going when I lived in Melb. I have been to 15 back in the 6os & 70s. Those were the days when it was looked on as a nice family day out.
Hello Brian . I am hoping to get over to Mt Gambier soon and will check out that cactus garden for flowers.
Steve, how are your projects going ? How about a picture of our table and chairs.
Shelly, watch the mail.
Hello Kat, don't go liking those baby turkeys when they hatch, you know what they will grow into. My epis are so slow this year. They need more hot weather even if I don't like it.
Hello Louise, are you winning the weed war yet. How is your weather there now ? Love to see more pics of your Florida garden.
Better go and finish the washing before I get sidetracked doing something else.
Have a great day and hello to anyone I missed.
Try this Chocolate Butter Cake and leave some for the new visitor too.

| Good morning all, well let me amend that not so good this morning, but I am at work in body if not spirit.
I had a great day at the races yesterday, probably to good, I lost miserably on the horses, but a group of us went into town last night after the big day and I recouped some of my losses on the dogs. I have not had a drink in a while and feeling the way I do now, realise I probably drank a tad to much, oh ok maybe more than a tad lol.
Next year I think I will take the Tuesday and Wednesday off :-)
Due to me not feeling so crash hot this morning, a very quick visit, to say Hi to all.
I will pop back later when I liven up a bit.
Have a great day all

Trying to arrange for a week off next week. Have bought the finish for the newly built table. It's called Organoil. I will post a picture or two when done. Hope to finish the shed this weekend and the shade house structure has been delivered to Sussex. Got some friends coming down on the weekend so while the ladies go to Milton markets maybe the blokes can construct! All good here. Lost money yesterday by disregarding my long time rule - never bet on the Melbourne Cup. All is blooming and pinched some succulents from an industrial estate yesterday. House looks good but still expecting the dog to greet me when I come home. Oh well. Life goes on.

| Hello you lot. I didn't even realise it was the Melbourne cup until the shops started closing around 1pm! My friends son won around $43,000 by putting $5 on a trifecta! Wouldn't that be nice for xmas! Hell, anytime really!
Steve, sounds like you and your mates will be having an erection...he he. Luckily the ladies won't be there to see it!
Mmmmm, Shelly, I know how you feel. Every now and then I have that 'one too many' and swear I'll never do it again.
Jean, Aechmea gracilis is a cutie. There is a small and large form apparently, but my large form isn't all that big. you'll love the nice flower.
Chrissy, enjoy the time with your brother and we'll catch up when you have your DG time back.
Colleen, thanks for the rainbow. Still rustling up some extras for your parcel.
Sammut, it was hot and windy here also! 2 broms fell over in the shade house, but luckily they are such tough things, so no damage showing yet. Just rememberee I was supposed to restake my tomato plant, guess I'll have to do it in the morning.
One more day of work, then off to a brom nursery, and then the brom show in Brisbane on Saturday. Ahhh, this must be heaven.

| Good morning everyone. Lovely morning with just a little nip in the air. The plant moving is coming along slowly. I have a few that I will have to repot before they can move. The little cactus are putting on quite a show. Brian has some large one beginning to flower but mine only have small buds at this stage. Mine get more shade I think that is the reason. Jean your garden is looking great. It must be wonderful just wandering through there. I forgot to tell you. We went to the Beechworth Bakery. I had a piece of orange almond cake. It was yummy. Beechworth is such a pretty town. Lots of Rhododendrums flowering. I only saw 2 Brugs on my whole trip and neither were flowering. I got lots of Pelargonium pieces to bring home and 3 cacti and one little plant called Lychnis, molten lava. All the other bus people were laughing at me carrying my cacti but a few of them got my address so that they can come and get any spares and to look at my garden. I hope they dont come just yet as my back yard is a bit of a mess with me moving plants to the shadehouse. Noone around at the moment so will come back later to have a cuppa. | Good morning everyone. . It's still cold here but expected to warm up. talk about yo yo weather. How the plants cope when I never know what to get dressed in , I don't know ? My large opium poppies are nearly all out , Again, just the pink and purple. I have thrown around seeds of red and white but not seen any come up. Seeds seem to disappear around here unless they are selfseeding from a plant. I have lost track of the millions of seeds I have tried. I have more packets of zinnias still so will toss them around and see what happens. Is that my plants don't like 'foreign' seeds ? I wonder.
Dalfyre , if the wind gets too bad here and I have iris out , I use the thin bamboo stakes to tie the stems to. Usually the wind doesn't bother them over much . Some are very wind tolerant while others will just faint in the wind. I'm lucky here as most of my iris have always been away from the main wind direction from the north . The new area is even more away and very slightly inclined . We do get shocking wind from the south but the iris aren't growing much at that time of year anyway.
Hello g_whizz, like the rest of us, you will learn about photos etc. I still haven't been down to Tas . I intend to vivsit one day before I leave this earth. It is the only state I've not been in and from what I have seen in photos , it is beautiful. I had lots of ancestors from there.
I have asiatic lilies here, which are about to flower. There are various other ones around the
garden. Do you have one particular type or lots ?
Hello Shelly, I hope you feel a bit better by now. It's nearly the weekend, and you can lay back in the garden.
Sue, hello. Yes, imagine winning that amount of money. I think more plants . ha ha. I am hoping my new brom is A. gracilus but I was reading that there is a bit of confusion about it. I dont care as it looks pretty and I'm not so serious , I worry about it's name. '
Steve, so nice you are nearly finished our table. It sounds as if it will be really lovely and should do well in my lounge or Leisa's. Maybe we'll share with half a year each. I really need a nice cabinet to match now. have you got one on your agenda at all ?
Hello Chrissy, we'll see you later when you have time. Have a good visit with your brother and I hope all goes well for him.
Colleen, I really must get some pics of your little babies to show you . They are all looking well Some have even grown new offsets. I only lost one during the wet winter, It will be nice to get them all out into the new space when we eventually get it all done.
Hello Elaine, hope the weather is kinder for you up there now.
Louise , did you send some of your cold over here ? I don't really want it. Hopefully we will get a few more warm days soon. I suppose by Christmas, I will be complaining of the heat. What are your favorite plants in your Florida garden ? It would be a big contrast in types from your NH one. Better move myself and do something domestic. Ugh.

| I was feeling awful today - sinus pain is a new one to me but wow it really makes you suffer.
Anyway thank goodness for drugs!
I took some cold & flu stuff, a hay fever tablet & some ibuprofen washed down with a can of V energy drink.
That helped me get through work, I was starting to wonder if I should ask for a sick day to try & sleep this bug off.
But 5 minutes after he arrived my poor old boss whacked his hand on a door & peeled off a huge amount of skin.
He was bleeding profusely & I managed to put a dressing on it & suggested (ordered) he go straight to the emergency clinic to have it seen to properly.
It was just starting to get busy & he was a bit reluctant to go but he couldn't work the way it was & I thought I would do better by myself.
He called our manager & she came back to work to help me.
She also jacked up our part timer to come in & finish off that nights shift.
I did say I would do it if there was no other option - I have done it before but it makes for a 12 hour day!
I was glad I didn't have to work that long.
Anyway my boss came back from the Dr with orders to take 4 days off, he isn't allowed to get his hand wet or risk knocking it again...
and with bar work that is an impossible ask.
So lucky me I get to do two night shifts.
But on the bright side I can spend my morning with the dogs & in the garden so fingers crossed for nice weather.

| Good morning everyone. It is too , the sun is out but the temp is only 5C so far. Supposed to be warm into next week. I will get out in the sun and lay out the retic hose for the irises later as that is out in the sunniest part. The garden is looking great this year and flowers are everywhere. It is a real color palette now. I work at trying to keep things in flower somewhere in the garden all year . Even in the real heat, there will be things flowering.
Hello Elaine. I wonder how many screen doors are recycled into garden objects. I , too, had a workbench made from one. I have an archway made from them too. They are great for that. Trouble is, now all the doors are made of aluminium and not so strong.
Dalfyre, I hope you are feeling a bit better. It's no fun with sinus troubles. Hubby gets an attack sometimes.
Steve, I can be persistent when I'm after something . You had better put the cabinet back on the agenda so Leisa can have the table and I'll have the cabinet.
How are all your budgies going ? Do you show them or just 'grow' them ?
You know , of course, that you and Kat and all the others with beach homes are going to be underwater soon, according to the prophets of doom. You may need to work on building a large boat instead.
Hello g-Whizz. a vivsit is a granny moment. My fingers move before my brain or vise versa. I type with 2 fingers and one hand is quicker than the other so I am forever going back to fix letters that are wrong. My meter reader has to struggle past groping plants too but I am putting a gate in the fence a bit closer to the meter soon. Only trouble is, I put the new path in a couple of years ago but the plants have sort of grown a bit and now I have to get the machete out to find it. I suppose , by the time I do get the gate done, the meters will be remotely read and I won't need the gate.
Hmmm
Hello everyone else out there. I am off to photograph a few more irises and see how my Angels are going. (brugmansias for the new visitors )

| Hello everyone on this lovely sunny morning. A tad brisk but going to be a warm day. I was laying out my hose for the iris yesterday and still have to do a bit. I have a lot of small plants to get into the garden today before the summer really gets here. My iris will be finished flowering in a week or two so I will be replanting madly then. The roses are all full of flowers and buds but the heat quickly wilts the flowers. Looking around at the garden now, I can see that most of it looks after itself and needs no water other than any rain we get. My liliums are nearly out and look twice the size of last year. I will post photos on the garden thread as they open.
I hope you all have a great weekend and don't get too tired out in the gardens.

always hibernate over winter... especially this one it was absolutely freezing!
i love that hollyhock and mine is just coming out in flower too.
those cuttings that you sent me (cannot for the life of me think of their name) - one colour i haven't lost one but the other colour all died. i haven't had any flowers as yet so can't tell you which colour survived. i just put each colour in a different pot (so several cuttings in one pot) and it was very weird how one pot had every cutting survive.. whilst the other pot had none.
that variegated one that i brought is growing in the garden and once it gets a little bit bigger i will be able to grow a cutting for you. it too hasn't flowered as yet.
all my angels didn't survive the winter unfortunately. i still have all them in pots though and am thinking that they are all gone but will leave them there and see if any reshoot. i will be extremely surprised if they do though. if i am going to have angels (which i would dearly love to) i am going to have to put them in the bottom section of my teired garden where no frosts hits them. i think they actually got too wet over the winter - we have had nearly triple our normal rainfall and i did end up losing a few plants due to rotting of the stems. i think in hindsight i should have put the angels in the garden instead of leaving them in the pots. i think they would have had a better chance of survival.
chat soon,
shelly xx

| Hello all. I am not staying long as I want to get things done outside before the heat gets too bad. I have lots to do and must get the washing out first. The poor roses are all burnt after spending all that time coming out. They were going to be a lovely show but all done now. Pity the poor little buds looking to come out over the next few days. They need training to bloom in the winter now I think. The Asiatic lilies love the heat though and the Angels are going well. Most of the plants are well used to roughing it here now so the garden still looks good. It will be a dry brown place by the end of summer though. I must get going as the sun is well up and I can see it moving over where I want ot work. Have a great day and stay out of the sun . Sorry about the flood Sue. It seems you are getting everyones water there. Definitely need that long ditch down to here.
Hello everyone else. Hello Shelly (V).

| Hello all! Did you think I fell off my carpet? Well, in some ways you might say so. Hank and I have been adopted by 2 lovely little puppies, 8 weeks old (sisters) who didn't know that we were going to wait until next summer to think about getting another fur child. Well, they came looking for us and our hearts are smitten! I want you to meet Bailey and Carli. I'm afraid I have had no time for gardening, cleaning, cooking, laundry or anything else since they arrived on Thursday afternoon. It has been 22 years since we have had such young pups, but they are just the most lovable and good little girls! Exhaustion on our parts doesn't say it yet, and Hank just said to me, " I need to go into my crate and rest a bit." LOL Our girls are being crate-trained and love their nap in their crate.
I hope all is well with everyone. Jean, I'll get back to your question about my favorite Fla plants once I can be spared for a few moments here.

| Good morning everyone. It's hot already here this morning. The boys have a student free day so are busy outside in the shade. Louise beautiful little additions to your family. Animals are just like little children aren't they? 1 of my cats fretted while I was away and 1 wouldn't even come and see me when I got home. Dudley always sits on my knee and sort of talks to me but he just made out I wasn't even there. He's forgiven me now. I have just put the A/C on. It's going to be a hot one I think. I'd better go and see what those monkeys are up to. Be back later. Colleen. Click the image for an enlarged view.

| Hi everyone yes it's going to be a stinker here too ...your little balls of fluff are very cute.
colleen you can go sit in the shadehouse now. have fun with the littlies.
It's that time of the year ... there are so many things screaming for attention that you don't know which way to look or where to start ...I think Christmas is probably a lot better in Winter but we have no choice here do we?. I dislike the heat.
jean isn't it rotten when the roses and other things just sizzle off ...you wait and wait. Then Crispy bits :(
I get a bit grumpy when the humidity is high ...the day is grey and it is already steamy.
Oh well never mind ...lots of plants enjoy it as specially the tropical ones.
Nice to see you popping in again shelley ...hope things are getting better for you now.
elaine ...whizzing around as usual, nothing stops you does it? fantastic!

| I'm back inside. nothing much got done out there. It turned hot very quickly and more to come. Colleen, I wish you would stop sending the SA heat here. I would much prefer a little northern rain. Oh well, we have to live with what we get.
Brian, icing ?? I thought cream should be enough for you. You will never get off the chair otherwise.
Hello Louise, your new girls are so adorable. Makes me wish I did have a dog but I am staying firm on that issue. No dogs here with hubby to ruin them.
We did have a large Bluetongue lizard visit yesterday. Hubby had gone to the loo and as men do, was standing contemplating when a sinister looking shape moved out from behind the toilet. He jumped 4 foot in the air and yelled . (hubby , that is) The lizard looked a bit bored actually and sauntered away to the garden.
I think hubby still has bad memories of the tiger snake that got in the laundry last year.
I must admit, the ends of both do look similar .
Hello Chrissy, stay inside and rest while it's humid.
elaine, you certainly are a livewire. Have a cuppa in the Tea Room and rest.
Colleen, your boys will like being in the shade house now. A good place to play in the shade.
I have just been drooling over Sues Brom thread. I want more. My poor little lot seem inadequate after seeing all those. Maybe I could just squeeze a few more in (or extend the shadehouse again) Shhhhhhhh, hubby may be listening.
Going out on the Tea Room patio to relax. Have a great day.

I have not had to turn on my aircons as yet the fan is still enough of a night time to cool the place down, it won't be long though. It is definately getting warmer in the tropics, we did however get a very small amount of rain on the weekend, it was just enough to wet my washing, and then it left and has not come back as yet sigh!

| Hello everyone. I have been out early and planted some fuchsias into the ground. They were getting too big for the pots and will do better out under the ash tree where the sun can't burn them. I managed to get a bit done yesterday in the late afternoon when the sun had gone across. The hose for the iris is laid out ,now all I have to do is join it and add drippers where needed. I am still watching my dyckias. The flower stalks are getting so tall. I can't wait to see the flowers then I may get an ID. I am off out to check on a few plants that may need moving as the sun is getting to them a bit. I would like all the yard under shadecloth like that brom place Sue visited . Imagine shadecloth over my nearly 2 acres. The mind boggles. I think the wind would make a mess of it too.
Hope you are getting over all the rain up north.
Shelly, maybe we need the carpet to catch all that rain and transfer it to your place and mine.
We could drop a bit on Colleen while passing. We are forecast to have thunderstorms over the next few days, but I see no sign of anything like that. Still. it can come up very suddenly. I doubt we will see much rain though.
hello to all and enjoy the week even if you have to work.

| I went out & watered my gardens this morning, we keep being threatened with southerly rain but all we get is a cold wind...
I wouldn't mind if it gave us a good soaking & went away but no - it is just cold & not particularly useful.
And I am feeling miserable with sinus pain - finally made a Drs appointment - worked out that I have been sick three weeks I think that is a little excessive!
the trouble is that I am not really really sick, & taking cold & flu meds has kept me up enough to work.
Well I am off on annual leave for this week & once I stopped taking those magic pills I realise that I am not really doing so well.
I'd like to be able to run my dogs on Saturday at our Champ show & not feel like my head will explode or be doped up on drugs...
I still have to bath the pair of them, wonder how much a professional service costs?
At least dalmatians are easy to wash & dry!
Louise those pups are sweet, are they bichons?
I have met a few at dog training & they are smart & learn fast.
One of the funniest things was seeing a huge man, must have been 6ft & really muscular build with his bichon & he treated it like it was a German shepherd & this tiny wee fluffy just adored him.
We tried to talk him into joining the club & competing because they were so impressive, the dog heeled like a champion, did perfect recalls, shame that he wasn't interested.
All he wanted was a well behaved pet...
he certainly had that.
Have to say that until I saw this one bichon I never thought much of small dogs, since then I have seen them compete at the top levels of obedience, agility & even know of two senior ladies who did tracking & working dog trials with a Cavalier King Charles spaniel & a Papillon.
I wish there was a photo of them lined up with all the border collies, German shepherds & rottweilers in their tracking harness ready to go.
Must have been amazing to see:)

| Good morning everyone. Another hot day. It was absolutely beautiful at 5.30am sitting outside having my coffee but has since heated up. Boys are back to school today. phew. Time to collect my senses again. Got into trouble from the old b!!!!! next door yesterday as she reckons the kids were making too much noise playing in the pool. Really, I thought that kids were allowed to make a noise when they were playing. The moving of broms is coming along slowly. No tadpoles yet. A bit hot to move them yet I think. The boys are putting all their dinosaurs in there too. Will have to find broms that look Jurasic to put around them. I have a Cycad that looks good with them. | Shelly, so glad you are pleased. If you are worried about humidity, just make sure they are where there is lots of air movement . Proabably not the best in the middle of a crowded flower bed in that climate. . Maybe off to one side or in a line along a fence . They should do well for you.
Colleen, B**** tho old witch. Kids are meant to make noise when young. They grow up soon enough.
Dalfyre, I do feel for you. Hope you get something positive from the Dr. Have a great time with your dogs. I love to see dogs at those trials and shows. Nothing beats watching well trained and obedient dogs.

I love the idea of childrens gardens ...I have one even though my grandchildren are grown now ...I have a garden that was set up for children to explore. It's now like a scene from the Jungle Book because it has matured (to put it politely). I love it! Well my secret garden section anyway.
Hubby has pushed me into funny places in other areas but I am adjusting.

| Did you miss me?
Five days at Sussex. Five successful and relaxing days. Got the shade house together and the shed up. My first Brug has flowered (pic on Brug site when I get a minute). Filled the trailer with weeds and cuttings (had no time to fire up the mulcher) put the first coat of oil on the table (which has now been elected as the outside table) had lunch in Gerringong today and friends over the weekend.
Have had a quick glance at the goings on and will read further. Hearts to you Chrissy.
We had bad news today with my father in law. Hard to accept these things.
Jean I grow the budgies. I like the genetics of colour and types and breed for what I like to look at. No time or inclination to show at the moment. Won't say that may not change in the future.
I printed up some business cards and leave them in some of the local pet stores. Get at least two calls a week from people wanting budgies. It pays for the seed.
Will be back later.

| Good morning everyone. Now if the weather would only stay as it is now it would be perfect. It got to 38C yesterday, which is very hot for this part of the state. The hottest start to Nov in 100 years according to the news. The main garden plants are doing okay as they are always on a water diet but the poor roses. sob sob... crispy crunchy.
The iris flowers are a lot hardier which is why I like them. They seem to hold up to the heat very well. Some of the buds will fry a bit but the flowers, once open, still look good.
I had to put out a few swimming pools on the ground for the maggies as they were sitting around under the trees looking very droopy. They love them and the young ones will just plonk themselves in and sit. The bird baths I have around the garden tend to get hot being higher off the ground and in the sun.
I am hoping the heat will make more epi buds open and the Angels seem to like the heat too. They tend to droop and look sad for a while but soon perk up as the sun moves over.
Hello Shelly, I'm like you, I can't stand coffee at all. I just put some in the Tea Room for others. I don't like the smell much either. Check in the back cupboard, there may be some wine left there.
I see Brian is at the cream again. Brian, where is the peach in that bowl ? I'm sure it's just cream there. Lucky we have zero calories here isn't it ?
Hello Steve. Of course we missed you. We love hearing of your doings there. How nice of you to put the table outside for us. It will be a lot easier to load onto the carpet from there.
I like budgies and had a lot when young. An old man who used to live near us bred them and I was fascinated by the genetics as he explained all the colors to me. I am still thinking of a few birds here but really don't have a sheltered place for them. I may eventually settle on one for the veranda or maybe a canary.
Hello Chrissy. GHA is opening well and more to come. I have lots of scents around the garden and the heat does make them stronger. The jasmine is out and wafts the scent around. Alyssum and still the blue fountain bush. Lots of mixed perfumes , so nice.
I did go down to smell Aphonse in the evening and his scent still hangs around in early morning.
Hello Colleen. You will be able to sit in your shade house as I do and enjoy the plants all around.
Hello to everyone else. Elaine, Louise, Sue and our other Shelly . Time for me to get out and do something before the heat really hits again.
Enjoy your day and your gardens.

Yes, Colleen, they are just like little children, aren't they? I laughed when I read about yours giving you the cold shoulder because you were away. Bichons are famous for doing that. They get over it though!
Jean - your blue-tongue lizard story is so funny!! I hate to think how I would have responded!
Hello Chrissy and Shelly. Chrissy, I too hope you feel better soon.
Elaine - Thank you for your sweet words about my little ones! I wish you could feel their softness!
Dalfyre, yes, they are Bichons. I've had 3 other rescues over the years and love the breed. Thank you for that lovely reminder of those who sacrificed so much for us! Those are such gorgeous bright blooms...love those hot colors!

| Hello Louise. I don't take my hippies out of the ground. I just let them do their own thing. Sometimes they don't even die back very much. I found out about the fire risk. Because we had large fires to the Nth-West, Nth- East and Sth-West of Barmera last year the CFS say that the school is in the line of the fires. So is the whole of Barmera for that matter. We only live a couple of hundred metres from the school so if they send the boys home I will have to pack all the animals, chooks, galahs, duck, cats and dog and get out of here. How does one go about catching a heap of frogs as well? [haven't got them yet]. I just hope it never comes to that. The school said that they would be able to notify us the day before. I think that the CFS is being very cautious because of what happened in Victoria last year and it could happen anywhere. Better to be safe than sorry. Love your little pups. Colleen . | Good afternoon all, it is pouring rain, and this is a very good thing on Rememberance Day - Lest we forget.
Louise those little girls can make thier way to Australia when ever they want, I am sure they would love living in North Queensland, although in saying that I would never get anything done around the house I would be to busy spoiling puppies.
Jean it is very nice of you to put coffee in the tearoom for the guests to partake, I must admit I have coffee at home even though I do not like it. I have never seen a blue tongue lizard in the wild before, it would be amazing, I have had a frillneck on the side of my tree once, that was really cool, it is amazing to see all the blood rush to his frill to flare it out, he was cranky with me as I got to close, so I backed away to get my camera, by the time I got back out he was gone :-(
Steve sounds like you had a great couple of days of very productive. I have to work again this weekend but then no more, I will be back to having my weekends off again, can not wait.
Brian I missed out on peached and cream, I am officially now sulking lol... it looked wonderful, do not listen to anyone I saw plenty of peaches in that heavenly bowl of cream.
better get back to work
have a wonderful evening all

| well I feel a bit better but the antibiotics gave me an upset tummy for a while.
Fingers crossed I get over that as I need to keep taking them for a while.
The sun finally came out here & from bed I could see the bumblebees visiting the rhododendron over the fence.
it is a pretty pink & must be about 8ft high so I get to enjoy the blossoms too.
I am hoping when the clematis grows it will run along the top of the fence giving my neighbours some pleasure as well.

| Yea they looked about the right balance to me. Odd pieces of peach floating in the cream, the sugar is dissolved of course.
Re the fire risk it is utter Bull initiated by the ignorant. This whole area is an irrigation area, there is oodles of water for fire fighting with outlets along the roads for filling tanks and of course decent sized pumps for the irrigation . On top of that a big proportion of the planting is grapevines and stonefruit that don't burn very well when green. Our towns are all ringed by the irrigation areas and although we do have house fires and grass fires we don't have those horrific fires like Ash Wendsday, The Canberra fires or those Victorian ones of last year. The mallee scrub that will burn very fiercely but is very sparsley populated. Some years ago there was a bushfire burning on a 200 mile front and it was left to burn itself out with only the station homesteads being protected. Yes that is 200 miles not metres.

| Hello everyone. As usual on shopping day, I am rushing in and out again. The door is now open so help yourselves. Its going to be another hot day today so we are off even earlier. I may find orphans after the heat so have fingers crossed. I need a plant fix urgently.
Enjoy the day and this lovely Rhubarb Tart. ( sorry, no cream left, someone ate it all )

| Good morning everyone. Looks like another HOT day coming. It was still 35 at about 10pm and was 28 at 6am this morning. Enough is enough. The poor plants. Even some of the softer broms have copped it. I should have left them where they were under the pine tree. Oh well I'm sure they will come back. It's not fair is it Jean when some people eat all the cream and there's none left for anyone else? I love rhubarb but haven't had it for a long time. I love sago as well and bread and milk with vanilla essence and sugar as a cereal. Boiled meat and vegies. Yummo. [with white sauce of course] and tripe the way Mum used to cook it with mashed potatoes and carrots and peas. Gosh my mouth's watering. Hope you find some orphans Jean. Are you feeling better Dalfyre? hope everyone else is well. I'm going for my swine flu shot this afternoon. None ready for the boys as yet. It's only suitable for adults and kids from 10 up. Hopefully it wont be long. Well everyone have a great day and keep cool. Colleen. A pic of the Catheadral at Bendigo. Beautiful building. Click the image for an enlarged view.

| the sun is shining & I managed to weed out some elderberry from the back garden.
I only went out to hang a load of washing but you know how it is once you spot a weed...
while I was out there I spotted a new baby lettuce plant coming up in the river stones under the line.
Too close to the lawn to leave it so I will have to transplant it to a real garden.
No idea where the seeds came from but I am doing very well out of this :)
And I still feel off colour & had to sit down & rest after doing the breakfast dishes but definite improvement from yesterday.
Kordana rose Patricia.
was a mini - or patio rose but i think it is changing, Eric the Red did & now is much bigger in leaves & flowers.

| You need to eat yoghurt after anti biotics ...hope you feel better soon.
I do a mean tripe in white sauce colleen, also crumbed brains in white sauce ...liver and bacon in tomato and onion gravy ...with lots of creamy mashed spuds. Home cooked corned beef and cabbage with home made pickles and boiled carrots and spuds. Sigh I mean I used to ...after so many years of being married to an Italian born Australian my food is almost veggie leaning heavily on the salads ...veggies and fruit, not that there is anything wrong with that, but I do get nostaligic for stodge in the Winter (stodge is the Italian description not mine). My background is English/Scot/Irish and French (grandparents) so I grew up on that sort of food (the "stodge").
That reminds me ...I am starving! ...pass me a salad roll will you (sigh!). |

| Hi Colleen. Thanks for the hippy thoughts! I think I'll put them into a pot in my patio garden area. That mammillaria is so pretty...totally unknown plant for me...lovely flower on it! That cathedral is also very pretty!
Sorry, Shelly...we've already grown way too attached to them to send them your way! LOL!
Dalfyre - I am glad to hear that you are turning the corner. I agree that antibiotics require yogurt, but make sure it has no sugar in it. Sugar exacerbates the problem. I hope you continue to feel better and stronger each day!
Hello Chrissy and everyone else out there! Thanks for those yummy treats and coffee, Jean! Tootaloo for now!

Am guessing there is a bit of sugar in it.
I will have to check the label.
May need to get a probiotic one to help my recovery.

| Ugh. ladies, ladies. I come back for a nice sit down and you are all talking yuk food.
Now real food is steak and chips with salad, a good roast dinner, cornbeef with boiled potatoes, carrots and parsnip, curried sausages etc. sweets are of course. ice cream with anything, pancakes with apple sauce and icecream, trifle, lots of luscious fruit except some of the tropicals like pawpaw and the like. I do like a feed of calves liver or kidneys and am not averse to cold stuffed ox heart.
Yoghurt is something that is left after good food has gone off ...
Hubby eats it by the bucket full. uggghhh.
I put cream in the same boat, sorry Brian, can't abide the stuff.
Now if asked what my very favorite food would be , it would have to be fresh cooked crayfish (lots) closely followed by the real old fashioned hamburger with the lot or a steak sandwich with the lot. I know, I'm a piggy but thats what I like.
Now back to gardens, Hello all. I have no orphans . I am sad, I have no plants to plant. I did however get a parcel in the mail . A lovely large brom from eBay, billbergia "Hallelujah'. Yes I know I bought one earlier in the year but this one is bigger, near 30cm tall and was only $6, a bargain.
It is so hot here too. and the cloud cover has gone so the sun is now exerting all it's heat on the plants.
Colleen, your poor broms need a swimming pool .
Dalfyre, I know exactly what you mean by getting sidetracked. I am always doing it. Go out to do one thing and end up never doing it as you go off with other jobs.
Louise, you must be having a lovely time with those two little cuties. They will have you well trained in no time.
Better go and see what hubby is up too.
have a great afternoon and keep cool.
Beautiful rose. I never remember if its News or Great News, I have both, one single , one double. One of the best purple roses I have seen.

| I'm with you Stake. If you can't swim them peaches in wine then why not have a peach with your cream? (King Island Cream)
Storm reached the coast at 5.30pm and went beyond by six Chrissy. Had a sprinkle of rain and some thunder but that's it! The witch (wind vane) turned west and stayed. Dropped a few degrees to a balmy 24.
My dad was a butcher so brains, tripe, lambs fry and corned beef are all in my good book. However, living with a vegetarian, I don't see them on the plate unless I cook it. (becoming more frequent). He used to lament the fact that out of 3 daughters in law two are vegetarians. I guess that means he played up in a previous life! I have some Italian Chrissy - Cassera. One of them was a butcher also. Would have been nice to know him!
Anyway - off to other things. Back later.
Cheers

I like asian cooking, tropical fruits, seafood, medium scotch fillet steak, chocolate and a handfull of cashew nuts! Thats just for breakfast! he he
Theresa, I hope you are feeling a bit better. elderberry is a pain! The more you pull it out, the more it suckers!
I've had three paralysis tick bites this week, and one each week the prior three weeks! Hubby reckons they could use my blood to make the antidote for the dogs that get struck down with them. I just wish they didn't itch like crazy, and that they wouldn't bite me on the forehead!

The big storm rumbled in lightening big wind and it just kept going.
brian I am high ... on Angel love ...true
steve I am a boring 90% veggie these days ...no particular reason really except that meat seems to sit heavily in my tum and I was scared by a truck load of dead animals on hooks being unloaded in front of me as a small child.Mum was yacking to a neighbour and I had nothing better to do than stare up into this huge cavern of carcasses, it's always only been sporadic meat consumption on my part.
I have a shocking memory of mum plonking a whole pig's head down on the table because it was free from the butcher ...in the old days and with 7 children to be fed, offal was a cheap meal.
Crikey what a subject! ...we had cheese rarebit on toast with a side salad tonight followed by peaches. It was too hot to be fancy and it was very tasty.

| Hello everyone . Happy birthday to the Tea Room. We have reached 50. Any excuse for a nice cake . It is a lovely cool morning here but will soon heat up. I am going to get a few hoses sorted out before it gets too hot. Washing to get out and morning rounds to do. I love to go around and talk to my friends. There are so many plants from different people , so I can have a chat with them all. Hubby thinks I am mad but don't we all chat to our plants ?
I can threaten or encourage as needed and who's to say it doesn't work. Feels good anyway. I can tell my Angels about Chrissys opera singers and how I expect similar or ask my broms when they are going to look like Sue's . Colleens prickly friends are there and Elaines mandevilla. .Waynes ladies are out there and lots more. Much better than just sticking any old plant in. This way I know everyone.
Hello Chrissy and Steve , I hope that storm did no damage near you.
Sue, you poor thing. you must have tick attracting blood. So many in a short time , please rub repellent all over yourself. I was complaining about miniscule midge bites here. Sorry, I won't moan any more. (but the b**s do itch) Brian, my small peach tree is full of fruit. It never did much until about 3 years ago when I threatened to cut it down. It suddenly started growing and now fruits every year. Not big but at least I get a taste. The nectarines are not as full of fruit this year. They are all being overshadowed by other trees. The best fruit trees we have here are the apples but as far as I am concerned there is not one good variety worth eating among them. Just ones hubby planted willy nilly and of course they grow the best.
I never had to eat any of that awful food when young as dad wouldn't have it . Mum was a good plain cook but I like to experiment with lots of herbs and spices. I do like asian food but not Indian. We often eat rice with our food and although hubby says it is torture to feed him vegetables, we do have a lot. We have changed eating habits now though due to "ageing" stomachs and have our main hot meal at lunchtime with just a snack at night. ( plus a small KitKat from the packet that hubby buys for me ) I think it's meant to be a bribe for no vegies, but it doesn't work.
Better go and od something domestic. Hello to everyone . We went over to here..

Good thing the lawns were mowed yesterday.
I was going in to drop some stuff back to work but that can wait until this blows over!
Not going out in the garden until it calms down & the sun is back!

Here it is finally cool and fall-like. Not much gardening is getting done here...maybe some tomorrow. And yes, Jean, you are correct about the pups training me instead of the other way around!

I hope the weather cools down a little for their trip up here. I have a lot of cacti flowers out now. They're really pretty. I had a bud on one that I took a pic of and didn't look yesterday as I thought that it would take longer to come out and guess what? It's been and gone. Oh, well maybe it'll get another bud. I hope you're feeling better Dalfyre and Leisa. I went to have my Swine flu shot yesterday. No swelling or side effects, thank goodness. | Thanks all for the nice wishes. (re the tick) Chuckle chuckle Anthony!
I think my back and neck pain might be realated to the ticks, as its been pretty bad the last few weeks and my treatment hasn't helped much. I did have repellent on, but theres not much you can do if they drop in from above and crawl through the hole in my straw hat! I used to use a soap made from citronella, but I cant get it anymore.
OMG, its raining here again! I hope its a nice gentle shower, but it seems that when it rains here it is usually quite torrential! I have to keep fertilising as I think alot of the goodies are leached from the soil with this kind of rain. The sea weed around here must be well fertilised! Uh-oh, definitely not the gentle reain i was hoping for. Might go inase the power blows. Oh well, at least the plants appreciate it
