This is a new bird for me, if it is an American Coot. Is it?

I also understand that it is also called a Mud Hen.

Thanks Burd.

If I'd waited a bit, I'd been able the get a pic of an American Coot and a great Blue Heron.

Good capture of the American Coots and GBH Hack. 3 days ago I first noticed the American Coots arrival here locally. Here they'll stay through early spring. I enjoy watching them diving for fish all through winter months. GBH are beautiful and one patient hunter!

Thanks Lily and Resin.

Here is another GBH patiently hunting a stream.

I saw it first. He just stood there for the longest time.

We're lucky to have those GBHs year round. Look at the falling leaves afoot at the stream. It's a pretty time of the year.

You're right Lily, the colorful leaves also got my attention. I see a heron or 2 about every time I visit Cooper Creek Park.
