This is a leaf-footed bug (Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Coreidae), but it is not a squash bug (Anasa nistis - see http://tinyurl.com/fa6cj). Yours may be in the genus Leptoglossus - see http://tinyurl.com/yzlb368 for an example.

I think that is why they are called SQUASH bugs...they come with directions for action...grin

It's hard to kill adult leaf bugs, I think, other than squashing them.
