| I have had "moses in the cradle "all summer. This is my first time to grow it. I have it in the four corners of a bed in front of my house. Right now it is just beautiful and getting really big. I don't know what to do with it for the winter. Should I bring it in ? Does it overwinter ? I really need help.
To bring it in I have to dig it up and pot it.

| Thanks for your input. I will probably end up digging them up to bring in. I hoped they can continue to be this pretty.I really didn't know what to expect from them. The other pictures I've seen,lead me to believe mine have been happy where they are.

| Your plant does look great... very symetrical. These plants are actually composed of a "mother plant" with off shoots surrounding it. They do not survive a frost. I am not sure how low a temp. they will endure. I suggest you break off an off a shoot stick it in water until it has some roots and pot it up. Keep it damp until it seems to be established. After that it endures drynes if you forget to water it. Put it out in the garden in the spring or what passes for spring in FA. I live in northeastern Maryland and kept my in shade on my deck. I found that mine did not do well in direct sun. One of the advantages of this plant is that if it does not thrive in one location you can always break off an off shoot and start all over again ! | Your plant IS beautiful with it's multi-colored leaves. I live in SoFla and down here the leaves are green on the top and purple below. The plant grows so well here, many consider it almost invasive. But I've left a clump of it (where I found it) around the base of a palm tree in the swale. I also have a couple of it's relatives: a smaller, similar looking plant (spreads even faster) and a tall leggy one whose growth rate is in between the two. All three are usually avoided down here unless one wants a ground cover. But I like their shade of purple so I let them be for the most part. When one or another gets beyond where I want it, It's a simple matter to just pull them out. |

| Sorry I've been offline,but yes it is just one plant. I have three more in the corners of a bed. I love the colors in it. Mine stayed in the corners of a lantana bed. It was mostly sunny,but didn't seem to bother it.

| Hi Everyone,
I have a similar looking plant that I bought as a 'tropical plant' from a supermarket. Do you think this is the same plant as the moses in the cradle? The key characteristic is that it has fleshy/rubbery leaves and the main stalk is not woody. Otherwise, it has the same green/purple leaves.
