My friend [Tony, in the picture] and I found this [seasonal] “wetland” south of Johannesburg, near a small stream running into the Klip river nearby, full of this interesting flower I though it could be a species of amaryllis, but not sure. Could you kind identify it for us?

jjulio, that looks more like a crinum than an amaryllis. Amaryllis don't usually have roseate type leaf growth.

Moon, isn't that what the old folks in Louisiana call "Plantation Lily?" Don't have a clue what the techinical name is.

Hi Jim. Good to see you haven't washed away...grin. The Plantation Lily looks similar, but it is a Crinum 'Milk and Wine'

Have you ever seen a solid white or solid pink Plantation Lily?
