Raptors are not uncommon in the area, but I've not seen the ospreys I observe pursue one out of the area with such vigour as they did this one. I wasn't able to get the ospreys in the same frame and they were flying at between 800 and 900'. I thought it may be either an Australian Hobby or a Peregrine Falcon. Any ideas? (second pic, equally as crummy, to follow).

Can't find any pics of the SW Australian Peregrine Falcon subspecies Falco peregrinus submelanogenys so not sure what that looks like. But it does look to match Australian Hobby pics reasonably well.

Why the Ospreys should go for it, hard to know. Maybe it had come too close to the nest earlier, and they remembered it?
