I thought they were Chipping Sparrows, tho it is a bit late for them. But after Looking at Susan's I am wondering?????

There was a small group of them, maybe 6-8 birds...

nanny, now I'm just speculating, but the nearest one, I think, is indeed a chipper, and the one behind it, I think is a female House Sparrow.

Nope...Chipping Sparrows are very common here during the summer. They are often one of the first to arrive.
