I can get a House Finch picture anytime from my feeder, but what I,m looking for is the Purple Finch. These 2 bird's were together when I took the pics.

In my field guide they look almost the same, very slight variations...the bill on the female made me think Purple Finch's, here's a pic from the feeder (not great) the other pics are from the marsh.

Yep, House Finches - note the curved top edge of the bill, straighter on Purple Finch.

Burd, I think once you see a purple finch for real, you'll be able to identify readily. At least that's what it took for me. I kept looking and looking at house finches wondering "is that one?" but then when I saw one for real, it's easy now.

Thx Everyone! Mrs_Ed thanks for the pic, I see the difference now, more red (purple) all over the bird.
