We have property in Southern Ohio and the Russian Olive "bushes" are sprouting up everywhere and are quite invasive. For us they are holding down slopes, but do take over.
Yes, they do. Sweet olive is not related to the invasive Russian olive. My brothers in Mississippi planted autumn olive on their properties many years ago as forage for deer. It was a decision that they have regretted many times. Here's a link that is informative.
I only returned to this site today. It is already January. I probably have the Autumn Olive; not knowing there were several species. There are just too many to cut.
