This weed was growing on cleared garden plot in Mexico. Does anyone have an idea what it is? I only have the Maya name for it, which roughly translates as "shoe knot".

It is a Chamaesyce, Garden Spurge. Maybe Chamaesyce hirta.

Yes, that is how you have said . The plant is Euphorbia hirta = Chamaesyce hirta de la Family Euphorbiaceae.

It's a common garden weed in warm environments. It is all over Hawai'i.

welcome to the id forum, anapatty. i do war with this plant also! LOL

i never new the correct name, just knew it was a spurge. now i can "hirta" it and call it by name while doing it!
