we cut down our elms in the back(i know i have to let the wood dry) and my dad said it's not good to burn elm in the fireplace,he said it coats it.is this true and are there any other woods to avoid?
queenbeez, We use a lot of elm in our fireplace insert and just love using it. Living in Michigan we have many dead elm. The bark sheds off when it is dead or dry thus not leaving as many ashes in your stove or fireplace. It burns hot and clean. We just love using it. Hope this helps you.
