Keeping Frost off Windshield

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

What do you find works best for keeping frost off the windshield. I drive a Chevy Blazer to work and it stays parked in our driveway as we only have a one-car garage.
If I cover the windshield with a piece of cardboard will it keep the frost off so I don't have to scrape in the morning or will it just stick to the windshield making more work to remove it?
Thanks for any tips.

I use the cardboard, sometimes a plastic garbage bag. They never stick.
