Plant and Tree Identification: SOLVED: Any Ideas on this shrub?

Author Content gcorrier Lenoir City, TN November 4, 2009 05:45 PM Post #7241715 This is a piece of a cane from a shrub/bush my wife brought home. The berries are reddish purple nearly a light shade of plum. On this piece there are 8 clusters of berries which are reduced in gap between as you get nearer the end of the newest growth. The wife would like to know what it is and what information if any can be given. For instance flowers, color, toxicity, perinial/annual, self seeding, intrusive, etc. We live in east TN zone 7b I think. Thanks for the help. Click the image for an enlarged view.
